My skin is very oily and somewhat sensitive – I’m 35 now, and it’s been that way since I hit puberty at 11, other than a year on Accutane. I’ve tried a few times to get on board the gentle, minimal, natural skincare hype train, thinking that it’ll somehow sort itself out with more delicate treatment. Yet I always come back to this cleanser. Frankly, it’s the only thing that gets my face completely clean without making it tight, red, or flaky. I usually dislike fragrance in skincare, but the clean orange creamsicle scent is so refreshing. It’s great on its own, or with a skincare brush. If I’m going to be oily anyway, why not use something that makes me feel clean and is enjoyable to use? I did the math, and realized I’ve been buying it for at least 12 years; it’s been around for 15 years! Despite the bad reviews, there’s definitely something about this product that hits the spot for some of us.
(I should note that I never wash with hot water – usually lukewarm, sometimes cold. I wonder if some of the bad reactions might be due to using very warm/hot water.)

great orange scent, thick/rich lather and truly controls my greasy/acne prone skin without irritating it or causing any sort of pain as I have terribly sensitive skin. for the price this is my go-to cleanser.

I love this product, I was given this for free to try in the beginning of this year (2017) and I never thought it would work. And at the beginning it kinda didn’t but this may just be me because I was using face washes and scrubs and toners and Diys along with this. My acne stayed the same. Then I go to Europe on vacation for 15 days and only bring this and a moisturizer (neutrogena spf 30) . MY SKIN COULD NOT HAVE LOOKED BETTER ! acne scars were gone, large cysts were gone ,redness was gone etc. Now for the last three weeks I have only used this cleanser and moisturizer and my skin feels radiant and Healthy!!

Oh god, this stuff makes me cringe when I think about what it did to my face. I used this in the shower with my Clarisonic (which has never broken me out) and my felt felt coated, dry, and tight. I started to break out as well. It never even crossed my mind that using this is what was causing this reaction. I kept using it to the point where I couldn’t take it anymore and it dawned on me what was going on. I asked my brother (who was also using it as we both have acne prone skin) if his face felt weird and he told me his was feeling dry and tight as well. From that moment, I never used this again and my face slowly started to heal.
This is probably the only Neutrogena product that has given me such a bad reaction (hoping I don’t jinx that) and I’ll be steering clear from it from now on.

Finally!! I found my HG cleanser! I’ve been dealing with very oily acne prone skin, and have tried countless cleansers and spent far too much on some. This product is fairly cheap, and keeps my face feeling clean and oil free all day! Even after a few days of use I have notice my acne quickly drying up. The smell is a candied orange and it’s thick, yet foams nicely, and a little goes a long way. I absolutely recommend this to anyone with oily skin.

I have very oily skin that tends to get oily even just after washing my face and putting on moisturizer. I thought this would be a good cleanser for me because it claimed to get rid of oils and it does live up to it’s claim. I start off by wetting my face with warm water and then by following up with this cleanser. I feel like this cleanser does well at lathering I guess that’s the word. It creates so much bubbles that it can easily remove dirt and makeup. I still recommend using makeup remover before hand as always but I feel that this is a great cleanser to remove any makeup left behind. I like to really press firmly on the skin while im massaging this cleanser in. This way it will remove the dirt and oil deep within the pores. I suggest doing this because if u massage too lightly I feel like the surface of ur skin would be dry but your pores would still be clogged with dirt and makeup. This cleanser tends to dry my face quite a bit to the point where I feel the need to use an extra moisturizing moisturizer. I don’t mind this because I do this anyways at night time therefore I only use this during the night. Don’t let this confuse u tho cuz I used to use it in the morning too and that’s totally fine. I only stopped because my morning moisturizer isn’t hydrating enough for this cleanser and so when I apply my oil control garnier bb cream, it doesn’t apply smoothly because all my products are too dry cuz they absorb oil and provide little moisture (and really after washing my face with theres not much oil to work with). All in all I recommend this only if u have very oily skin and if u have a good moisturizer at hand because otherwise it could dry u up too much and that could cause the formation of lines (wringles) butbut this is still one of my favorite cleansers

I have sensitive combination skin – it’s oily, yet gets aggravating dry patches. Most everything I’ve tried is either too gentle and doesn’t get my face clean enough, too harsh and therefore dry-patch-inducing, or else it works great for about 3 weeks and then does one or both of the preceding. Rapid Clear cleanser is the only thing I’ve used that keeps my face tame all year-round. Only in my native Texas, though. When I go somewhere dryer, it tends to be too harsh. I also really love the clean orange creme smell – it makes me go “ahhhhhh!” after my shower.

Price:
I can’t rate price fairly for various reasons (sale + not my usual thing to buy specifically “acne-prone” advertised face washes although I do have oily skin and blemishes), so 3/5.**
Packaging:
Average. Dispenses product well enough.
Overall:
I used to buy the now-discontinued (in North America anyway) Deep Clean Foaming Facial Cleanser. I kept using it for a while after it was discontinued in NA because I was able to stock up while visiting Thailand. Since running out of that stock, I have only found one acceptable (but not as good) alternative, and this product is NOT it. (Not the worst either, but not great by any means, for me at least.) Superficially, it looks, smells, and feels a lot like my HG cleanser, but in the end it does not *act* like it.
I want something relatively gentle as a cleanser, although I do need to control oil. So I have to strike that delicate balance between getting as much dirt as possible OFF and being as MILD as possible to my combination/sensitive face.
I tried this because it was on sale and seemed (still seems) from what I can tell as though it was Neutrogena’s replacement for my HG facial cleanser. However, while washing with the FFC left my face soft and not in immediate, urgent need of hydration; with this stuff, I’m left instead with a rapidly-drying, often flaking face, and associated irritation.
I’m loath to waste products so I’m using it up while taking special care to keep my face moisturized. I use toner more than I used to now, because it helps even things out. (Nivea “pure & natural” purifying toner with argan oil and aloe is far less drying than this cleanser, so I use it to get rid of every last trace, lol.)
I give this product a 3 overall because I suppose it’s doing that “rapid clear” as advertised via the typical peeling route (not advertised), but I wish all the other info on the side of it didn’t describe it as though it was the cleanser I miss so much!

This product I bought because my friend recommended it and most of the reviews were good. HOWEVER I did NOT like this product. I have oily skin and used this with my clarisonic. The scent of the wash is nice.I do have oily skin. It didn’t really dry out my face but it DEFINITLEY LEAVES A RESIDUE. It controls oily skin throughout the day because the wash leaves behind a film of beeswax on your face. I do not like the feel of beeswax on my face. After I washed with this it made my face itchy red and irritated and most of the irritation went away but my forehead felt uncomfortable the entire day and the little bumps I have still stayed a pinkish tone. It did help control my oil much more but seemed to irritate my skin. I wonder if my skin did not like the beeswax but online it says beeswax can.be positive for your skin. I am going to take this back. It did not do well and seemed to make my skin feel more sensitive when I normally don’t have sensitive skin.
