Olay Gentle Foaming Cleanser, IMO, is anything BUT gentle. I switched from a higher end brand of cleanser to this (trying to save quite a few bucks) and the result was awful. This stuff seems to be no better than washing your face with dish liquid!! In fact, it has a translucent milky semi-thick consistency exactly like a bottle of dish liquid I saw in the grocery store. After four days of using this product, I had extreme dry patches (where I had none before) and red blotches (where I had none before). I had been using my previous more expensive product consistently for months with no problem. The only things going for this product are the cheap price (I think I paid 4.99 or 5.99, 6.99 tops) and the pump bottle. I’m going back to my old product and this is going in the trash. I do no recommend it and will not be buying it again.

Unfortunately, I experienced a bad reaction from this cleanser. I have quite sensitive skin, and my skin got red, blotchy, and tight immediately after using it.

I’m a no on this, sad to say. I have used about 1/2 a bottle of this (now comes in a pump)… It takes my makeup off and doesn’t irritate… but I feel like it leaves a film on my skin no matter how much I rinse. I keep thinking I’m mistaken and then feel the same way the very next time I wash with this. There may be something in this that has caused me to get a few pimples since I started using it… but that’s a guess. I’m not crazy about the texture either – it takes a bit of work to get this ready to wash. Give this a shot – everyone seems to love it – it’s just not for me for a few small nagging reasons.

I am currently loving this cleanser! There is no irritation or reactions from this cleanser & it removes my mu. I have sensitive, rosacea skin, so finding a cleanser that takes good care of my skin is a challenge. I have been using this cleanser since last spring when I had a skin reaction from another product & just needed a cleanser that did not burn my skin. There is zero fragrance & just foams up slightly for me.❤️

I recently tried both Olay Gentle Clean Foaming Cleanser and Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash, and they are quite similar, except that the Olay tends to be less drying. The Olay formula is very simple, non-fussy and basic, with no dyes or fragrances added. The product is a thin pearlescent liquid which foams with the addition of water. I found it to be relatively good at cleansing without stripping, and it never caused irritation even on my sensitive skin. It is a great gentle, no-nonsense drug store product for normal to slightly dry or slightly oily skin, but might not be strong enough to remove a day’s worth of makeup and sebum. For me, it worked very well as a second cleanse after using cleansing oil to remove physical sunscreen. I would repurchase if I was unable to find my preferred options, and would choose Olay before Simple any day.

I’ve only been using this for a few days but oh man is it fantastic! I was using Neutrogena’s face cleansers previously and they had too many chemicals that were harsh on my skin so I switched over to this and its amazing!! Foams up nicely and leaves your face feeling so smooth and clean! Doesn’t break me out at all and my skin is sensitive and sorta oily. Highly recommend!

Reduced packaging size from 7oz to 5oz at same price. I used it for years after foaming cleanser in the pump, which I liked better, was discontinued. Removes almost all makeup, except waterproof, without tightening or drying. Disheartening, so may look for another product.

I’ve been using this cleanser for several months, and I really love it. I have very sensitive combination skin, and Olay Gentle Clean cleanses well without causing irritation or drying my skin out. I use it twice a day, morning and night. In the past I haven’t had much luck with foaming products. They’re usually drying, but this one is just different. It leaves the skin really well balanced. I really like that it’s fragrance free. It’s affordable and easy to find. It’s an all around terrific cleanser, that I think would work well for all skin types. Even people with oily skin could probably use this, because it’s gentle but not emollient. It’s never made me break out. Great product. I highly recommend.

I used this for years, and considered it my HG cleanser. Removed my makeup, didn’t irritate my skin, and rinsed cleanly. I found that with the reformulation, it was more viscous, and didn’t rinse as well. It also left my skin dry and flaky.
Why did you mess with a good formula Olay? Having to search for a new face wash is annoying.

I loved the old cleanser, but I haven’t noticed any difference with this reformulated version. However, they reduced the size from 7 oz. to 4 oz., so it costs more even though the price is the same. It’s still very affordable, but like everything has gone up in price. I’m combination skin and I break out if I over moisturize. Yet, many cleansers for oily skin leave me with that taut feeling on my skin. I’m also allergic to chemical fragrance and plant fragrance (such as citrus oils, peppermint, menthol, flower extracts, etc.). This cleanser is perfect, not too drying not too moisturizing. It doesn’t irritate my skin or cause me to breakout. It takes off makeup pretty well, although I also use CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser with it. I use the CeraVe dry, mostly on my eyes to get the mascara off, then rinse it off, and follow with the Olay. In the morning, I like to use the CeraVe or Neutrogena extra gentle hydrating cleanser. However, the Olay would be fine for morning cleansing also, I just use a smaller amount.
