I really wanted to love this cleaner bc the skin plumping gel works so well with my skin BUT… This cleanser burned my face to the point that it was raw and flaking! Im not for sure which ingredient is to blame but I will definitely never let this product near my skin EVER again! RETURNED

My combination skin loves this hydrating facial cleanser. My skin feels so clean after using this with and washed cool water. My face glistens right after patting it dry. hMy only problem is I need to find a product that can maintain the softness after the was. My face dries up after 15 minutes but I doubt if its the cleansers fault. Compared to other cleansers, this give me the gentle clean moisturizing effect I need.

This is the best cleanser I’ve used in quite some time and I’m pretty sure I’ve found my new HG. I have combination skin leaning dry with age. To deal with the newfound dryness, I’ve had to do a fair bit of trial and error to find a gentler cleanser and find most either: 1. Foam up and feel like they clean really well, but strip my skin and send me running for the moisturizer, or 2. Are gentle and hydrating, but feel totally ineffective and pointless, like cleansing by rubbing body lotion on your face.
This Hada Labo cleanser is the best balance I’ve found. From the moment I first applied it to my face, I was thinking, “oh no”. It foamed up so much and felt like it was cleaning so well that I was convinced it would leave my skin tight and stripped. I was pleasantly surprised when I rinsed and found my skin still felt balanced and healthy, not tight at all. I’m not sure how this cleanser manages to achieve this when so many others fall into one of the two camps I outlined above, but I’m not complaining.
Another important point: I was initially unsure about purchasing this cleanser because the value did not seem great: about $13 CAD for a 100g tube. However because this foams up so well, you need very, very little cleanser for one wash. I keep forgetting and squeeze out more than I need, but I think you could multiply the quantity in the tube x2 (at least) to reflect how much product you will feel like you are getting. This tube is going to last me much longer than I expected.
I’ve also read some good things about the ingredients and pH of this cleanser, which are a large part of the reason I initially purchased it and will repurchase it. I’m not going to write about that here because I’d only be copy/pasting what others have thoughtfully researched and written, I don’t want to claim in-depth knowledge of skincare science that I don’t have, and this information is easily Googleable. I only mention it so anyone reading can check it out if they’re interested.

I have this with the red square logo and cherry blossom design on the white tube packaging. I purchased it from Amazon last July and am just now finishing my first tube in November. I have normal-dry skin with occasional hormonal breakouts. It often feels tight and dry if I don’t apply a moisturizer after cleansing but is otherwise plump and hydrated, knock on wood.
I use this daily in the evenings and like it a lot! It hasn’t been a miracle product for me, but it causes no redness, stinging, or dryness. It leaves my skin clean but not stripped, and I’m definitely going to repurchase and would recommend it to others. My skin feels normal after washing, though I never just leave it (I apply toner and oil, sometimes also some sort of extra serum/treatment and a lotion). This has a slight soapy/white musk scent to it that doesn’t linger after washing it off. I am very impressed that my skin doesn’t immediately feel dry and tight after washing this off, as this usually happens with even the most “gentle” and “hydrating” cleansers. I also don’t double cleanse and feel that this takes my sunscreen off (Coppertone Water Babies) just fine, but am overall pretty lazy in this respect.

I’m on my 3rd tube of this and got my mom hooked to it too! I have sensitive skin and this does not irritate it. It foams very nicely and feels cushiony and you only need to use a pea sized amount. It rinses off easily without residue and my skin doesn’t feel tight or dry after using this either. I like to use it with my clarisonic because of how foamy it is. I used to use the mild cleanser by Clinique but this one by hada labo beats it by a mile in how foamy and gentle/non drying it is.
I typically purchase this for $17 which is quite expensive but so worth it because I haven’t found anything else like it before.

I love this cleanser! It foams nicely, is hydrating, removes my makeup, and has an acidic pH level. I’m on my third tube so can report that this has never caused any break outs or irritation. It also doesn’t leave my face feeling stripped and with that dry/tight feeling.
I switched to this cleanser in early 2016 because my esthetician said my skin was dehydrated. So I wanted something a bit creamy that still foams and I’m so glad I switched.
I have also used this cleanser to clean my foundation brushes. I used my normal brush cleanser two times and could still feel makeup on the brushes. Then I used this and my brushes came out completely clean.

4/15/17 EDIT: I still love this cleanser, but it has been become increasingly difficult to find. Ulta, Walgreens, and CVS all stopped selling it. It is available on both Target.com and Walmart.com, but I have not seen it in stores near me. Thankfully, Target.com offers it as a subscription for $7.99 per tube plus free shipping. They automatically send me a tube every month, which works out great! Also, after I wrote my original review Hado Labo made the tube bigger. I’m now able to get 5 ounces for $7.99!
This cleanser is awesome! I’ve been using it for about 2 years now and I’ve repurchased it several times. It is a creamy foaming cleanser that completely removes heavy duty makeup without any dryness or irritation to my skin (I am only the oily side). My only complaint about this product is that it comes in a small-ish tube (3.5 oz) and doesn’t last very long. Also, at around $11.99 per tube, it’s not super cheap. Other than that, I absolutely LOVE this cleanser!

Lathers well and really cleans makeup off your face, but it was just too drying for my middleaged skin.
