After using Cerave Foaming for a couple of years, it was just getting to be too drying and wasn’t the easiest to rinse off in our very very hard water. Vanicream rinses like a dream, very quickly and completely. I find it too be only minimally foaming, with a soft, almost slimy texture. No redness at all. I was using it in the morning but have switched to using in evening after a good wipe to remove makeup and sunscreen with Bioderma Sensibio H2O.

I actually never intended to like this cleanser but i am so glad i got it on a whim since I was almost out of my Cerave one. I am happy to say I am not going back. The Vanicream one cleanses and rinses off so well. It doesn’t leave a residue and doesn’t dry out skin either. It really surprised me. I have oily combo sensitive dehydrated skin. This is cheap and effective! My other favorite is Acne.org Cleanser but this is easy to get at the drugstore and works just as well. I do like the Acne.org more because you get a bigger bottle for the same price. Vanicream is more convenient though. This is a great drugstore find!!

I just tested out this cleanser and am giving it a trial run, so will update if the situation changes. What I noticed though is that my face did not feel dry or tight after using this cleanser, and that is something that nearly all gel cleansers failed miserably at. My favorite gel cleanser just got discontinued, and was an all natural health food store type of gel cleanser. Amazing product, but it got discontinued because its a niche item.
Anyway, Vanicream gentle cleanser does foam, but it does not get super sudsy, as that is a characteristic of having sulfates or betaine in them I think. I like the way Vanicream feels on my face while washing, and it suds up just enough to effectively remove my makeup. Have not tried it yet on waterproof mascara.
Should mention that I am allergic to Cetaphil, as in my face immediately burns when it comes into contact with Cetaphil cleanser, and although I loved CeraVe moisturizing cleanser, it eventually began to break me out after about three or four weeks of use. I will update this review in a month or so after I have used this cleanser for a while. So far though, I really like it.

I wasn’t expecting this to be a gel foaming cleanser, I was expecting it to be more like a cream cleanser, the kind I like to use in the AM. So instead, I’ve been using it at night, after using my Hada Labo Cleansing Oil. It’s a tiny bit more stripping than my other gel cleansers, such as Aveeno Ultra Calming or Cerave. My face just feels a little tighter after washing with this one. I’ve noticed no irritation or breakouts as others have mentioned. Probably won’t re-purchase, though. There is nothing that great about it.

I used this for about a year. I had continual whiteheads on my chin during that time. A dermatologist looked at my skin and said that my skincare was too rich.
I stopped using this, and switched it for a La Roche Posay cleanser.
My skin cleared up and the breakouts have not returned.

I took this on vacation with me. Brought a cetaphil bar as backup. I used it one morning & noticed bumps on my cheeks. Theat weren’t there before I washed my face. At the beach my skin usually looks flawless too. So I went back to cetaphil & had to extract the bumps. Just clogged pores. Didn’t turn red or anything. Been gone since I stopped using. So turns out nothing is better than my bar soap after all. Bummer. Want to find something more beneficial for my skin than a bar.
Hopefully not too soon to write a review. I’m just so excited about this cleanser. I’ve been using cetaphil bar, since I had an allergic reaction to my longtime cleaner bar (Clinique) or olay cloths at night. My dermatologist gave me the bar & lotion.
My routine for years has been cetaphil bar & cerave pm. Recently went back to cerave lotion, bc my skins been dry. I remove makeup w hemp seed oil first at night.
I’ve also been on the search for a dif am cleanser, as cetaphil bar is too drying & just noticed they added masking fragrance a long time ago. I’ve tried cerave moisturizing (left a film & felt so icky), cetaphil gentle foaming (still felt a little bit of film, & got a few breakouts. My daughter loves this one tho) cerave foaming (left the film & I was sooo itchy all day. How do you get dry AND greasy skin at the same time?) Cerave baby was was the best, but I ended up w blackheads. I don’t usually get these bc my skin is dry & pores are small.
I’ve also tried some Paula’s choice & dove sensitive. My skin just seemed to hate everything. I did better using plain water in the morning. But I wanted to remove all the products i use at night.
I saw this while getting sunscreen at target. And I saw Dr Dray on YouTube rave about the brand.
I tried first night forehead only. NO FILM! I was thinking all liquid cleansers did this. Skin felt soft, but squeaky clean. I actually like my skin to feel rinsed clean tho.
They say it takes awhile to show a breakout from a product. But I can tell within days or overnight sometimes. I tried on whole face the next morning. Skin felt & looked better. Actually made it more clear! Than my precious cetaphil?? No way.
Used that night bc I loved the softness of my skin. I never use anything other than my HG at night. I woke up & skin is glowing. Not dull like usual. Leaving for vacation tonight & I will take the bar as a backup, but hope I don’t need it. The cleanser comes in a bottle w an easy open/close toggle. Easy travel. Cleans skin thoroughly, but doesn’t strip. If your used to a moisturizing cleanser, it may be too drying for you. But if you just want to clean your skin, & have moisturizers to use afterwards, this works beautifully!!
Oh, & the foam. It feels so elegant! Soft, luxurious. Hard to describe. But feels nothing like the others I’ve used.

Love this cleanser, so simple and non-irritating with very simple surfectants. I don’t hate the smell as much as others do, it’s definitely medicinal but I find it really mild honestly! It’s nice that it lathers too, but I don’t consider that a must since I’ve learned to appreciate the moisturising effects of non-foaming cleansers like Cerave hydrating and Cetaphil gentle. I should note that it is not strong enough to cleanse makeup/sunscreen on its own, but again I wouldn’t expect a gentle cleanser to do that anyway (I always double cleanse with either mineral oil or Bioderma sensibio micellar water and personally think that’s the way safer way to remove sunscreen and makeup).

I was hoping for the best but I’m pretty sure that weirdly enough, I’m allergic to something in this cleanser. Rinsed it off and got a huge red itchy spot right above my lip. Love the moisturizer though!
