I went to my Dermatologist office on Tuesday for the Vitalize peel. Today is Friday my skin still looks dull, no peeling at all, no redness no fading of sun spots, no improvement in small wrinkles I paid $175 for nothing. What a waste of time and money my skin looks that same as it did before the peel.

I had this peel on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. I had slight redness the day of the peel but nothing since. I did not peel, nor did I have any flaking. My skin shows no difference in texture or appearance. Total waste of money, for $150 I expected results. Save your money and get a better chemical peel. I would of been better off doing it myself with another product purchased on Amazon. I had the peel done at a plastic surgeons office. I love Skinmedica skincare products and use them twice daily so I’m very disappointed.

So I am just now seeing the beautiful results of this peel and I got it done 9 days ago. I would NOT recommend this for sensitive skin. I have very sensitive skin as a result of taking birth control. And I also have very oily, acne-prone skin, which is why I wanted to get the peel. My breakouts are much less now that I’m 22, but I just wanted to get rid of the bumps that were left on my forehead. My dermatologist recommended I get a chemical peel because I wasn’t really seeing major results by applying Retin A every night.
I get the chemical peel on a Wednesday. I feel some pretty intense burning as she is applying the peel but it lessens when she puts the fan on the face and then puts another solution on top to stop the reaction. I leave the dermatologist’s office pretty red since my skin is so sensitive and she did extractions too. I come home–have a yellow tint to my skin from the peel–but nothing too noticeable so after an hour I grab lunch with my friend.
We walk outside for a bit while we wait for our lunch order to be made. This was not a good idea because it was a really sunny day and I was not wearing a hat or sunscreen since I still had the peel on. My dermatologist thinks this may be the reason I had such an intense reaction to the peel but I still think it is because I have ultra sensitive skin.
Anyway, Wednesday and Thursday weren’t bad. Just noticed some redness appearing on my face. However, Friday morning I woke up and my face was so swollen. Like if I had been stung by a bee or had a peanut allergy or something. I went to my derm and she said this was a normal reaction in fact it just meant my immune system was really good. I was still freaking out thought because most people don’t get that swollen from a chemical peel.
Saturday was also hellish. The swelling and redness increased. I looked deformed. I couldn’t even step outside without fear of scaring someone. Thankfully, I was staying with my mom so she could get me food, care for me, listen to me complain, etc. I would definitely recommend making sure there is someone to help you out through this whole process.
On Sunday there were slight improvements, not really noticeable. It wasn’t until Tuesday that I finally started to look like myself again. Swelling was virtually gone but I still had noticeable redness. Wednesday the swelling was gone and I could just cover up the redness with mineral makeup. Thursday–still some redness but not too bad. And today Friday is when the redness is basically gone and I have this beautiful glow and smooth, soft baby skin.
I would NOT put myself through this agony again..especially since my skin wasn’t that bad to begin with but I am very happy with the results. So for all your girls in agony right now…don’t worry it will get better!

Totally not worth it! I have used at home peels that seem to work better. I use Retin a micro.. so maybe thats why but this did NOTHING for me and was a total waste of money I would like back! I had no peeling really at all. My skin is normal with break out a little on the dry side. The only thing I felt with this was SLIGHT tingling then dry skin and tightness, Other than that nothing! If you are thinking about doing this skip it! I have not tried these but I would recommend looking into the VI peel or the rejuvenate peel. Not this one.

Got the vitalize peel three weeks ago — didn’t love it. The price was reasonable and less expensive than the Vi Peel, but it also wasn’t as effective. I had mild peeling but I basically peeled so little that it didn’t seem worth it at all; it didn’t help with my hyperpigmentation either. Unfortunately it also made me have a massive breakout on my chin — it was as though a hundred little granules of sand came out and created little scratchy bumps that made my chin look like sandpaper skin. Ugh. I had to get a facial and extractions so now it’s finally healing but I’d never get this peel again — just not worth the outcome or the breakout.

Had my second peel last week. First took five days for light peeling to stop and seven days to look normal. Left my skin nice and glowing and I was really pleased with the results. I had stopped my Retin -A the week before, so peel didn’t go as deep. The second time I forgot to stop the Retin A and had only two days before I went into the peel. This one went deeper and the recovery still seven days but with the added hassle that it itched like crazy during the peel on days four and five. Distracting and bad. Skin now looks good and I’m pleased. Discoloration fading a bit. I may do a third because I do like how my skin has brightened up but this time will try to remember to stop the Retin A beforehand. I paid $100 for mine.

I’m a African American male and had the Skin Medica Vitalize peel done on Thursday and now it is Day 3 and I’m peeling a lot my around my mouth ,forehead and chin. The peeling solution didn’t tingle or anything and my dermatologist said she was going have a Martini waiting for me the next time because some people complain about stinging or tingling but I didn’t get anything she applied the 3 layers of the resorcinol, lactic, and salicylic acid then the retinoic acid after she prepped my skin.My skin is really soft and clear underneath because I can see the little areas that are peeling.I’m going to have another done in a month or so but I have 3 more microderms left and I’m loving how this peel went deep in my skin to show my refreshed, healthy looking skin.I will update on how day 4 and 5 go.My chemical peel costed $90 and my microderms were $50 for the V-day special at my dermatologist.

I am 25 years old with a few fine lines on my forehead and from smiling. My dermatologist recommended getting monthly chemical peels to combat my adult acne and slow down the aging process. I got my first Vitalize peel about 6 months ago. It takes very little time and I only expierenced light burning during and after the peel, which must be left on for a minimum of 4 hours (though you can put make up on over it and continue your day as usual). When I received the first peel, I did not expierence much redness or discomfort. By day 3, I had some peeling and dryness aorund my mouth. By day 4, I had some peeling on my cheeks as well. By day 5, my skin was back to normal and looking a little smoother and brighter. A month later, I went back and got a stronger peel, the Rejuvenize peel. At this point, I had begun using a nightly retinoid as well, which makes the peel go deeper. The Rejuvenize peel left me a little red the next day with some light peeling by the end of the second night. By day 3, I was peeling and dry pretty much everywhere. Day 4, still a peeling mess. Things started to clear up around day 5. By day 7, my skin was back to normal but looked much fresher, smoother, and clearer. Five weeks later, I got another Rejuvenize peel (also still using the nightly retinoid). My skin started getting red and hot by the end of the first night. The next day it was very red and peeling. Peeled for about 6 days and then back to normal with skin looking better than before. I got another Rejuvenize peel 5 weeks after that (also still using the nightly retinoid, but not for 3 nights before the peel), and it was Hell on Earth. My face looked like I was a serious burn victim for about 5 days, it was dry and scaly without any peeling for about 4 days. It was so tight, red, irritated and swollen that I could barely move my mouth without it cracking and bleeding. I peeled for a solid 2 weeks this time. However, my skin has never looked better than after that peel. My skin was completely smooth, my freckles were basically completely gone, the fine lines around my smile and forehead had disappeared, and my acne was nonexistent (and my pores were not clogged). So, I’d say the week of painful Hell and 2 weeks of looking odd were worth it. Yesterday, at the 6 week mark from my last Rejuvenize peel, I got a Vitalize peel (not as strong). I had not used my retinoid for 3 days beforehand. This peel is similar to the last one I got (still a lot of burning and tightness and swelling), but not nearly as bad as before. I will probably peel for about 10 days this time. I guess that the more peels you get, the deeper they are able to go because the last time I got this same peel it did little to no damage, but now it definitely has. Ultimately, I think these peels are extremely worth it (yes, even considering the Hell on Earth pain, the ugly duckling stage while you turn bright red and peel, and the $155 price tag for each peel). I have always had freckles, clogged pores, light acne, and acne scarring. In the last few years, I have started to get fine lines (didn’t worship sunscreen in my teens like I should have). Now, after 4 peels, my skin is basically pristine (the peels accompanied with AcZone prescription topical cream and Atralin prescription retinoid). In the end, I suppose it is “no pain, no gain” and I plan to continue getting these peels (though I am going to tone it down to a 8 week regimen). In the future, I will likely alternate between the Rejuvenize and Vitalize, pending on the state of my skin when I go in for the peel.

I am on day 5 of this peel and I still look like a burn victim who was wearing protective eye wear.. how long does this last…and please tell me its worth it because if I had known how long I’d have to hide from the public, I would never have done this.

I’m 45, fair skin with sun damage after many stupid teen and 20s years in the sun. I have some melasma and just not skin I was happy with. Nothing awful, I just wouldn’t go anywhere without foundation.
I had gone into my med spa thinking I needed IPL, which isn’t cheap and requires too many repeat procedures (I had tried it before, with minimal results). Instead, the aesthetician suggested trying a “mid-range” chemical peel (which was Vitalize).
I was SUPER nervous, but pleased with the results. During the 15 process, no big deal – my skin just felt kind of hot afterward, I felt like I must look really pink. I actually looked fine right after and went shopping. About 48 hours later, I started peeling, which was annoying but tolerable. I just used Obagi hydration to minimize the look of the peeling during the day. Peeling was completely done within 4-5 days. I had another Vitalize peel done 4 weeks later – same reaction, same effect.
I am shocked to see that other reviewers paid $350 for a Vitalize Peel. I guess I got some SMOKING good deals through my medspa – only paid $60 for the first one and $75 for the second one! I just got a Revjuvenize peel (the strongest one from SkinMedica’s line) (only $75!) today so I don’t know how that will turn out yet.
