Like you reading this now, I had heard about the ‘amazing’ effects of coffeberry extract to counteract the aging process- even dermatologists are recommending it and I remember reading, off the top of my head, a derm quoted as saying ‘it’s the only thing that works’. It has been shown to pack quite a punch in terms of battling oxidative stress in our skin cells which, of course, will keep us looking younger for longer. Whilst I don’t doubt the efficacy of coffeeberry there are a couple of issues: 1). it balls up- I know, minor problem, but for me it is really annoying. I also wonder, if the product is clumping up how much is actually being absorbed? Therefore, I only apply a single thin layer which stops any balling up. 2). No expiry date on this serum- this really, really bugs me, especially when you are paying quite a price. I want to be assured that the coffeeberry in my serum is still active and working its magic in my skin. The only way to work around this is to look at the copyright date printed on the serum- mine has 2013 and states that the product has a shelf-life of 24 months so an expiry of 2015- right on the cusp. My way forward is to track down a local stockist and buy it in person and check the date. To sum up, I’m not ‘in-love’ with this serum but I am prepared to rotate it with other antioxidant serums (Prevage, Topix Green Tea) on the basis that 1). only a thin layer will be applied 2). I want a fresh product.

After 2 weeks of using the sample I decided to purchase it but here are my considerable notes:
Texture: It’s not as heavy as a cream and definitely thicker than a serum. It’s more emollient.
Color: Gray-brown probably from the coffeeberry extract.
Pros: It does make you glow… and people have commented on how great my skin has been looking, thought I would give an entire a bottle a try, and then come back to report.
Cons: The smell is STRONG, it takes getting used to. It does ball a little when mixed in with the wrong products and you don’t wait in between layers of products. I mainly save it for night use.

I found this product after reading Futurederm.com’s review on it and learning this is a product Futurederm uses herself. I was looking for a mainstay antioxidant serum/light lotion and feel pretty confident about using this one as Coffeeberry’s antioxidant rating is this highest of any single ingredient (I believe), though this doesn’t take into account the potential effectiveness of mixtures of antioxidant ingredients (like Vitamins C and E together). Additionally, the Intensive Recovery Treatment is the most concentrated product in the RevaleSkin line. Anyway, I don’t know of many sources of more scientifically-inclined, impartial skin care product reviews so I started using this product based on the one source (Futurederm.com) I could find.
I like this product so far but I can’t say I’ve seen any long-term effects from it, possibly because I’m still young (in my early 20s). The consistency works fairly well for my skin, which gets oily quickly, as it’s pretty light. It’s about the consistency of a lotion, though perhaps one not necessarily intended for oily skin as my skin does get somewhat sticky with it and it is shiny on me. It’ll probably be fine for anyone with normal skin though. I’d previously used RevaleSkin Day Cream, which was much thicker and less agreeable to my skin, so I consider the Intensive Recovery Treatment a huge step up.
I’ve noticed that my skin looks nice when I wake up in the morning after I’ve used it. It also appears to sink in nicely on the skin on my hands compared to a drugstore hand lotion I’m currently using, even though it feels sticky on my face. I can’t attest to its preventative benefits because I haven’t seen any of the stuff it’s supposed to be preventing (of course) and I haven’t done a long-term usage or split face test with it. I did try using it on the back of one hand and not the other for a while, but didn’t take pictures or anything, so I can’t tell if it did anything. Sometimes I think I see minimized wrinkles, but I might just be imagining it.
I’ll be staying with this for now because it looks scientifically to be one of the best antioxidant products out there and I haven’t experienced any adverse effects with it. Maybe I’ll do a methodical test of its effects one of these days.

I used the whole bottle (great delivery system–zero waste!) of this coffee berry antioxidant serum. I used it every morning beneath my sunscreen. I didn’t see any improvements but I didn’t see any deterioration of my face either, which I guess is the point of an antioxidant.
I like the aroma and texture, though with certain liquid foundations, it caused pilling (little balls rolled up on my face as I tried to blend in the makeup). It did not upset my usually very sensitive rosacea-prone skin. I like it, but as it is very expensive, I will try Prevage with idebenone again before buying this again. I think I actually saw some positive changes with the Prevage.
