i can’t believe all the bad reviews this product has. it’s a beautifull product, applies like a dream, no white cast, NO peels at all, feels velvety mat but not drying and it is smooth on the skin, like a luxurious moisturiser. i have the eu version with the pa++++. i don’t know if the other version is any different.the price is what it is, it is a la prairie product, so i didn’t downrate the price.The overall performance is exceptional.

I bought this product for the second time after I given up on their all other very expensive face creams. This sunscreen as much lovely as it looks like with beautiful smell peels off on my face, I v tried to use it alone, on top of La Prairie face creams etc but doesn’t work. My recommendation is always get a sample before wasting your money on £150 cream.

I really really wanted to love this product. I am a true believer in both sun and environmental factors aging skin and the science behind this product was so compelling. I use several la prairie products so I thought this would be a good fit for my daytime routine.
Unfortunately I found the product to be thick and sticky like a cheap mineral sunscreen. The scent was pleasant but both spreading and tapping onto my skin did not result in a smooth finish-but rather a shiny and sticky finish. I would let is sit for a while. After about 30 minutes it would become more matte, but as soon as I put foundation on (skin caviar foundation) it would get weirdly clumpy and some areas would slide off.
Sadly this is a terrible product for everyday wear to work, under makeup, full day wear. On a positive note, sitting at kids sporting events all day in the sun did prevent any burn so it’s probably a good weekend, beach, pool spf.
Went back to the counter and I’m testing the anti-aging day cream spf 30 which is a chemical filter so hopefully that makes for a better makeup base.

There are two versions of this product.
The US version, marketed in North-America (that contains UV-filters: Octinoxate 7.5%, Oxybenzone 5.0%, Titanium Dioxide 1.9%, Zinc Oxide18.6%).
The EU-version, marketed in Europe and Asia, is based on Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Titanium Dioxide, Tinsorb S, Uvinul A Plus, Polysilicone-15 and Ethylhexyl Tirazone. And rated PA ++++ (that also corresponds to the EU recommendation for the 1/3 UVA protection. That will equal to PA 17.) The base of the formula for the two versions is almost identical though.
Although the US-version is more like a fluid lotion, while the EU one is a somewhat thick cream that sinks in the skin fully and leaves a very pleasant matte finish on the skin. The EU-version (that I have tried) has an exceptionally elegant finish despite the high amount of organic UV-filters. It also feels more like a “regular” moisturizer than a highly efficient sun-care product. (All that’s said, it still does not justify the hefty price.)
Note that both formulas contains powders that enhance this kind of elegant finish.
Both formulas are intended for everyday UV-protection and not for beach use. None of them contain waterproofing agents nor traditional film-formers. This will make them inadequate if in contact with water or sand and in case of perspiration.
Both versions will provide inherently photo-stable broad-spectrum protection.
