Finally, a decently priced pure mineral sunscreen that I can use around my eye area. Only con is how thick it is, pretty hard to spread. I kid you not, this stuff is thicker than toothpaste. Took one lippie off for that. A white cast is to be expected with mineral sunscreens. I remedy it by adding a drop of cover fx custom cover drops. If you’re a fan of weightless, thin sunscreens that apply clear, this isn’t for you. Stick with chemical sunscreens made specifically for the face. However, my skin cannot tolerate those, so this is a winner in my book.

I brought the green mineral fragrance-free version. I was looking for a decent sized mineral sunscreen and most mineral sunscreens were 2 ounces or less, which is awfully minuscule. Pros: hygienic squeeze tube, spf 30, generous 4 ounces, and no breakouts experienced while using this sunscreen. However, i’d recommend layering this under a foundation since I found it made me look like a clown, by itself and use moisturizer before hand since the zinc oxide and titanium dioxide dried out my skin.

Thick and white. My kind of sunscreen. Emollient in that it won’t cause the skin to become dehydrated and emollient in that it will keep a sheen on the skin unless your skin is dry to very dry. I don’t mind it. It is tenacious, and works as a makeup primer for powder foundation. It’s affordable. If I had any complaints, it would be that it is so thick that applying the recommended amount is not easy. If someone with darker than my NC20 skin was applying this, they may consider it to be ghosty on their skintone. Does not cause breakouts and appears to have wonderful ingredients.

My dry skin beauties who know the struggle during cold months. THIS PRODUCT RIGHT HERE is all I’m gonna say.
What the name implies is EXACTLY what you get, with added benefits of course bc I wouldn’t have it any other way! Yes it’s loaded with added benefits, such as antioxidants that help your skin repair itself and better guard against the harmful sun rays.
These added benefits in my mind are like a little army whose sole purpose is to protect and serve my skin, do you see now why I said I wouldn’t have it any other way!
This does not irritate my sensitive skin, not even around the extra sensitive eye area.
It layers BEAUTIFULLY under powder and liquid foundations. It makes my dry skin look so healthy and luminous with and without makeup.
My kids who are acne-prone, dry and sensitive are also enjoying this without any issues or reactions whatsoever.
I HIGHLY recommend this for the colder months.
During the summer I go back to Kiss My Face SPF 30 as it is not as emollient but just as awesome ( I reviewed this one too)

I like the texture of this sunscreen (moisturizing, but not oily) and it seems to work well. It smells like sunscreen, but I don’t mind (some people might, however). This product is fragrance-free, which I like, and the broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen seems to protect my skin well. However, it is not really “all-natural,” depending on how you define “natural.” The only “natural” active ingredient is titanium dioxide, a physical sunblock which blocks both UVB rays and some UVA. Titanium dioxide is what is responsible for the white cast in photographs. The other active ingredients (homosalate, octocrylene, and exthylhexyl salicylate) are all chemical sunblocks, and so they are not completely “natural.” Homosalate absorbs UVB, octocrylene absorbs UVB and short UVA rays, and ethylhexyl salicylate (aka octisalate) absorbs UVB rays. With all four active ingredients together, you get broad-spectrum protection. I might buy this again if I completely ran out of sunscreen, but I also want to try out some other sunscreens to find my HG.

I dont know what’s up with the bad reviews for the green version, but it is one of the most lightweight and natural sunscreens I ever used. It does not make my combo skin oily or leave a white cast. Once you rub it in, it becomes invisible. It contains shea butter, jojoba oil, and grapeseed oil which are great for oily skin because they dont clog pores. I like it so much that I decided to replace the clinique city block spf 45 for the alba botanica one. However, the clinique one has a lighter finish and slight light beige tint, so some people might prefer that more wearing it under their makeup. On the other hand, $7 is a good value for a mineral sunscreen with 4 ounces.(zinc oxide 14.5%, titanium oxide, 2.5%)

This review is for the fragrance-free (green) version in an updated formula with 14.5% zinc oxide and 2.5% titanium dioxide as active ingredients.
For reference, I have dehydrated-normal acne-prone skin. I find this sunscreen is one of the few I can use without copious amounts of moisturizer underneath (although I still like a little) as it lives up to the “very emollient” claim. My skin works well with zinc oxide in sunscreens and this is no exception. It doesn’t cause me acne, and it appears to help soothe the acne I have. I’ve seen less breakouts since I started using this 2 months ago, and it also helps with my redness.
This is a thick sunscreen with a white cast, but on my medium skin tone it better helps me cover up my red-purple acne scars and and unevenness rather than make me look like a ghost. The emollients in this sunscreen also work to fill in my pores and give the blurring effect that’s popular these days without the dryness I encounter in primers and finishing powders. There is a slight tackiness with the dry-down which I don’t find affects my makeup application.
I do find the packaging unwieldy since it can unevenly dispense sunscreen, usually in little globs. The tube also has a very round fat base so near the end of the product I need to bend over the tube like toothpaste to get anything to come out. I do have to do that with all tube products, but usually not when there is so much product left so I would prefer a more narrow tube/base.
Overall, this sunscreen suits my dehydrated skin very well and has the bonus effect of filling in my pores and evening my skin tone. I do plan on trying a couple other sunscreens (especially ones I hear a lot of hype about like Elta MD), but I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase or recommend this.

Skin Background: Very fair, combination skin (oily around t zone, normal/slightly dry around cheeks), some blemishes.
Skincare (morning) routine: Burt’s Bee’s Acne Cleanser, Rosewater, Rosehip oil serum, Grapeseed oil, Avon Nutura moisturizer, and Alba Botanica sunscreen.
I know it’s a lot of moisturizing. But in my eyes, moisturizing is one of the key components to healthy, fresh, young skin. I love to moisturize. I love the feeling of moisturizer on my skin. This is part of the reason that I love this sunscreen.
It’s a very thick, white sunscreen. I take the tiniest amount (like the size of a dime) and rub it into my skin; since it is composed of mineral sunprotection, it will leave a white cast for a few mintues. I find that if I keep rubbing it into my skin, it disappears after a few minutes.
It’s also pretty ilbased, which I love since I love natural oils. This being said, your face will look shiny after applying. I usually just blot my skin down with a tissue and I”m all set.
To be blunt, if you love moisturizing and you love thick moisturizers/sunscreens, this is for you.

Love. I wish it weren’t so expensive, but mineral sunblocks always are for some reason.
I use this daily on my face. It’s very moisturizing, it goes OK under my makeup (let it soak in for a while first!). It’s white but not very…I’ve actually noticed that after about 5 or 10 minutes the white cast mostly disappears on my face and I don’t see it. It does not break me out or irritate my skin at all.
I also use this on my body when I’m going to be outside for long periods of time (I only wear sunscreen on my face daily, the rest of me as needed!) That makes it multi-purpose, which I love!
It says water resistant for 40 minutes…I’d say it’s a fair bit longer than that because the stuff is very difficult to remove! It requires soap and scrubbing. I actually changed face cleansers because my old one wasn’t cutting it. I don’t mind that though, because it does its job so well I don’t want to give this sunscreen up.
One word of caution, DON’T over apply this stuff. Too much of it and it’s impossible to rub in! It’s difficult to rub in anyway, for some reason it seems to separate on skin but with a little effort, it applies evenly and gives good sun protection.

I have combination skin: dry cheeks, large pores, oily to normal in T-zone, and acne-prone on my chin. I bought the Mineral Protection Fragrance Free version (green tube) at Target for around $8-9, however, I have not seen it there since.
I try to find reasonably priced day time moisturizers that are made for dry skin, have at least an SPF of 30, animal cruelty-free, fragrance free, and recyclable. This sunscreen seemed to fit the bill.
I added this sunscreen to my daytime skin care routine: Cleansing with Yes to Cucumbers Gentle Milk Cleanser, exfoliating with Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Treatment, and then I applied this sunscreen. I used a quarter sized amount of the product each day. The consistency of the product is a little grainy and oily. I found the oil in the product almost to separate (?) if that makes sense. You also have to really rub it in to get rid of the white cast.
Unfortunately, it often made my face look oily (it does contain aloe, dimethicone, glycerin, shea butter, sunflower seen oil, jojoba seed oil, and grape seed oil), but did not make me break out. It smells like sunscreen, but it is not overpowering. I found it to be very moisturizing for my skin, even in winter.
The tube packaging is convenient for travel. The tube probably lasted my about 3 months.
Summary: Very moisturizing sunscreen that is chalk full of natural emollient ingredients, cruelty-free, fragrance free, and recyclable. However, individuals may not like the grainy texture and oily presentation the product leaves after use. Also, the product is difficult to find in stores, but can be purchased online. I will not be repurchasing this product.
