   OK, this did not impress me. Its ok sunscreen it does not break me out BUT, it is very expensive for what it is. It has Octocrylene for UVB and Avobenzone for UVA protection, which is not enough considering that avobenzone is not stable enough to ensure prolonged UVA protection because it degrades the moment you put it on, which means that you have to reapply constantly. I think that there are far better options- more affordable and more effective.

   I need to write a review about this product. I grabbed this product on a whim when I was in France and really like it. However, I feel that I need to share some important information about this sunscreen, as its claims are so misleading:

   -This product is not mattifying AT ALL. It leaves my face shiny and looks a bit greasy right after application.
   -It will leave a white cast in your face.
   -It is one of a few Bioderma products that is fragranced.

   Overall, I really like this product. It doesnt cause breakout, easy to remove (with a gentle makeup remover) and has a high sun protection, depite it does not deliver what it claims.

   UPDATE: I started to love this product and bought a second tube. It doesnt cause me acne at all. Yes, it will leave a white cast on your face but Im quite pale so what I get is a glowing kind of look. Also, once it sets, which can take some time, it will leave you a weirdly-looking sheen on your face that is matte-ish but still reflecting some light. So I wouldnt call it completely mattifying, but at least I can see its effort.

   I bought this product for my husband. I wanted to try it out and opened the lid, product is so runny it squirted out. It is not oily, but when you put it on your skin, it doesnt leave a dry feeling. I applied this without needing any moisturizer underneath and for a surprise all day it kept me matt. I think I will buy another one for myself.

   I have used this religiously for a a few years and I think that overall it is not a bad sunscreen. I think the texture is good, although you have to rub it in a bit, the finish is matte and it didn’t break me out or cause any whiteheads (which usually happens about a month after I’ve been using a pore-clogging product).
   I would actually give it 4 or 5 lippies but recently I have noticed that the sun protection I’m getting from this sunscreen is not that good at all although I apply this generously every morning. In fact, it has not helped with my hyperpigmentation. I think if you live in a sunny climate this cream needs to be applied frequently, which I can not do when I’m wearing make up.
   So this is a good product if you can apply it more frequently or if you use it in the winter/fall. A big plus for me about this product is that it has not caused whiteheads, which most good sunscreens do and I like its nice matte finish. However, as of now I will start using mineral/physical sunblocks as opposed to chemical ones because of my hyperpigmentation concerns. So, today I have purchased Skinceuticals Sheer Mineral defense UV 50. See how that goes… but I think I will still keep a spare tube of Bioderma Akn sunscreen in case I run out of the more pricey Skinceuticals.

   Only 2 days in and just no. On the box and website this is described as “Prevents the appearance of blemishes” ; “longlasting matifying effect”; “colourless on appliction” and “No white traces”. Well a possible, 2 out of 4 is the result.

   UVA 13 – great
   The UVA protection is my main aim as I already have hyper-pigmentation issues.

   Mattifying – yes
   I have combo oily skin and if I was able to wear this on its own I would’ve had to have applied an oil free moisturiser underneath. Its that dry. Which means application can be a dragging issue to try and get in to blend into your skin. Not shiny at all.

   Non irritating – for my skin no irritation but only 2 days in…no creation of spots and even with the fragrance, not rash.

   Well it doesn’t apply clear. And it leaves my face with a ghostly, chalky appearance. I can only imagine this would be ok only for the fairest of caucasian skin, with blue undertones… because this will effect any makeup you would want to put on.

   Yesterday I put a thin layer on my clean face, let that settle, only took 1 min at the most it dries very quickly, then mixed my foundation in the next layer as there was no way I could leave the house with that bluish ghost white face. My face just looked ashy. I had to dig out a darker foundation and buff around my face to take off the worst. I ended up wearing more makeup than I would on a night out.

   Today I put on a thin layer let it ‘bake’ for longer. This helped with the ghost face, but still very much there. I then buffed in a mineral foundation.
   Mask like is all I can say. I have to wash it all off and startded over with the darker foundation, lighting it up with lighter colour a-la highlighting. Took a photo with my don 90mins later and the flashback almost broke my phone.

   During my sons violin recital (along with the rest of his class. They are new to the instrument) I was distraced enough to fire off a complaint to Bioderma for false advertisement, and do a search for another sunscreen I could pick up locally. (I got 2 for less than the price of this one so tomorrow is covered).

   This is unusable for me… can’t even give it away, and I hate throwing product away.
