Heavy, thick and greasy white cream. Difficult to rub in, and gives as strong white cast. Smells like vitamin C citrus and natural waxes, which I wasn’t fond of. Terrible under makeup as it slides off and wears off quickly. So thick its difficult to completely wash off even with double cleansing and I found it got stuck in my larger pores. Broke me out when my skin was oily, but as my skin got drier it was fine. I prefer their SPF 16 Age-Defying Treatment Serum which has a lovely light texture and works well on its own or as a primer under makeup, and smells nicer, like vitamin C without the waxy smell.
Ignore the reviews from people are saying its “tinted” and has a light easy to rub in texture. The only tinted product they sell with SPF is a BB Balm SPF9, a completely different product and formula.

I bought for my mature, combo skin to avoid sun damage at the beach or when outdoors for extensive periods. I found that I didn’t make it to the water or pool very often but when I did apply it, found it to be so heavy, greasy and thick, with a white residue, that I looked blanched if I didn’t wear makeup over it, and if I did apply cosmetics, they slid right off. I will keep it until it expires in case I make it to the beach or spend more time exposed outdoors, but I can’t say I liked this product or will purchase again. It wasn’t cheap.

This was an alright sunscreen. I bought it because I’m looking for a sunscreen without as many chemicals in it. This one had a good review on the EWG website, so I tried it out. It didn’t make me breakout, but I felt like I could feel it on my skin. There was no fragrances and I felt it provided decent sun protection. I’m used to the Obagi SPF 50, which I can’t feel and goes on matte. I ended up returning this.

The way I would describe the texture of this is a “mousse.” It’s like whipped dessert in your hand, and then when you spread it on your skin, it’s weightless and powdery. Not greasy-looking like most sunscreens! And as far as I can tell, it works great. Was recommended the product at a facial spa.

Living in Miami, I must wear sunscreen every single day. Mineral sunscreen is the only way to go for me; chemical SS irritates my skin and eyes. I tried this on the advice of my dermatologist, and bought it at her office. I have since found that it is fairly hard to find at real stores; you have to get it online or at the derm. This is my HG SS. It is very cosmetically elegant, as it just glides over the skin, with zero absorption time. It is not greasy at all and also does not dry me out. It has the tiniest bit of pigment that ever so slightly blends skin flaws. I have gone through 2 tubes, and it is a keeper. With every day use, it lasts 5-6 weeks. It is definitely pricey ($39 at the derm, about 30 with shipping online), but I do not mind paying for a product that gives good protection and is non-irritating.

From reading some of the previous comments, I wonder if we’re talking about the same product (mineral fusion SPF 40 F/M). For me the product is very heavy and greasy and even a small amount takes forever to absorb into my skin. It still feels greasy. It does have a nice smell though, but I will not buy again.

Update:
Still loving this stuff years after I first tried it. After reading some of the reviews about greasiness/layering makeup I’d suggest that those users *might* be using too much. It’s something I occasionally do with this product; for some reason, maybe because it’s tinted, it’s hard to tell if you’ve covered certain areas. If you use too much it can feel greasy for a little bit. I’ve never had any problems putting makeup on top of it like right away. It has become even more expensive on Amazon (now $38 for 1.5 oz) I wish there was another sunblock I liked, but this is still my favorite. Luckily, a little goes a very long way so I only every need to buy 2 or 3 tubes a year and sometimes I use clinique’s city block. Hope this helps!

I’ve just finished the sample my dermatologist gave me (so can’t comment on packaging) and I really loved it–so I’m purchasing a full size 1.5 oz bottle.
The color was a brown/tan and it felt very dry. I liked it much more than the Jan Marini face protectant and the Clinique City Block I’d used in the past. I didn’t notice any grittiness. I love the way it blended into my skin. I didn’t find the need to put foundation over this, but I wouldn’t say the tint provides any coverage.
After 3 days of use, this has not broken me out and I have highly clog-able skin that is prone to breakouts. At $30 for 1.5 oz (on Amazon) it’s a little on the expensive side, but I think a little of this stuff goes a long way.
Will update if anything changes.

I got a sample of this at my local spa and loved it I had to buy a tube of it. Yes a bit pricey but last a long time. The only sunscreen that does not make my face irritated and greasy. It is kinda like tinted matte makeup but yes I still need to use a foundation if I want all my flaws covered. I will buy again…in fact I will be going to get some more this week!!!!

I love the consistency of this product. It must be the silicones, but it’s got a great smooth feel, not like a traditional sunscreen, more like a mousse as one reviewer said, but a bit more substantial. The tint is a nice touch for my medium asian skin, though I still need to wear foundation to cover acne scars/blemishes. I like that it’s a mineral sunscreen as well, and doesn’t use chemicals. And it doesn’t break me out either.
The only thing I don’t like is the price. About $40 for a fairly small tube, but you don’t have to use a lot to cover your face. I use another type of mineral sunscreen for the neck/chest/ears area, and just leave this for the face.
It probably lasts me a few months though.

I didn’t know what to think of this when I first got it, but now I really like it. It seemed kind of thick and difficult to spread, but finally I mastered my technique! It’s not like a cream or lotion…I would describe it as more of a mousse consistency. I apply it while my lotion or serum is slightly wet, dot it on my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin, and blend. Once it soaks in, I apply a light dusting of mineral foundation over top. Then I’m good to go for the day! I love the slight tint…it tones down redness. I will definitely repurchase.
