   I love CeraVe Lotion and Cream. But their other products have not faired well with me and this in no exception. I am sure the SPF is effective…it worked for me. But this is one of those SPF’s that leave you white as a ghost. I always use physcal SPFs, but not all are created equal. This was thick & pasty and left a horrendous whte cast. It also left sunscreen everywhere it touched. I gave it two lippies because it had decent sunscreen protection, but the rest of it was awful. I wish I had my receipt I would return it. I am pretty sure I am just going to throw it out at this point. I was lured in by the promised of of the hydrating and good skin ingredients it touts, but it just is not worth it. Save your money and skip this one. CeraVe, I love your lotion, cream and ointment, but your face products are not cutting it for me.

   It’s wicked thick and takes some rubbing in. You’ll look chalky until it warms up to your skin. My makeup applied fine on top, but looked dry. This has a strong white cast (for anyone not fair) and definitely will adhere to your skin. Not bad, but not great. It’s also $15 for 2.5 fl oz. If you apply the proper amount to your face daily, you’ll fly through it. I’ll finish it, but won’t repurchase.

   In general I’ve had pretty good luck with CeraVe products, and because of that I thought I would try their new Hydrating Face Mineral Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 50. I always keep my eyes open for a good sunscreen so this sunscreen looked like it had potential. The CERAVE Hydrating Face Mineral Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 50 is a high strength, mineral, fragrance free, denatured alcohol free sunscreen for your face. This contains a fair amount of zinc oxide: 7% and a slightly larger amount of titanium dioxide. The new CeraVe Sunscreen also contains some beneficial ingredients in the form of ceramides, vitamin e, and sodium hyaluronate.
   Overall it sounds like it could be the perfect sunscreen, until you actually try it on. This sunscreen is thick, takes some effort to apply, feels VERY drying, and has one of the more noticeable white casts from a mineral sunscreen that I’ve seen. After applying this my face just started to feel itchy, and to be honest, I couldn’t wait to wash my face. I guess I’ll probably re-purpose this into a body SPF?
