After many years of searching, and trying sunscreen after sunscreen, I have found my sunscreen, one that I will use. This is the best sunscreen I have ever used. It’s a step above Neutrogena dry touch. I absolutely love it, not greasy, shiny, sticky, a nice matte finish, I even use on my face, highly recommend.

I LOVE this sunscreen and that’s a big deal to me – I am acne prone all over (face, back, chest) and I hate the white cast, the sticky feeling of sunscreen and often the horrendous smell (no I’m not hitting the beach this morning, as much as I would like to!). This amazing piece of sunscreen technology eliminates all of that, has a FANTASTIC SPF rating for the laser-like Australian Sun, but reapplying is really pleasant and I have never had a breakout due to reapplication (or first application) – would want to know if there is a face version of this? If so, take my money! Fragrance may be an issue to some, as it is fragranced (but I personally love it as I don’t have any allergies) – face version & non fragranced version please Banana Boat! 😀

I recently purchased this sunscreen at Target for $7.59 (I think it was either on sale or had been reduced to a lower price from $7.99). The tube contains 6 fl oz (177 mL). I think that this sunscreen is reasonably priced.
I don’t know how long this product has been out in the market, but the label on the tube says “New” so I take it that this is a new product in the line of Banana Boat sunscreens.
The print on the label makes the following claims: (1) UVA/UVB protection; (2) Broad spectrum SPF 50+; (3) Helps you feel dry & fresh; (4) soft matte finish; (5) skin breathes easy; (6) water resistant (80 minutes).
Active ingredients are listed as follows: avobenzone 3%; homosalate 9%; octisalate 4%; octocrylene 5%.
I have to say that I do like this product. First, it does not contain oxybenzone. While there are mixed views about oxybenzone, if I can avoid buying a sunscreen with this ingredient, I will. Second, I like that the lotion is easy to spread, absorbs quickly, and dries to a soft matte finish. I also have no issues when I apply my liquid foundation over it. In terms of application/feel, the Dry Balance formula feels so much better than Neutrogena’s Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch SPF 50 sunscreen (the Neutrogena sunscreen isn’t sheer). The Dry Balance lotion also has a tropical fruity scent, which I like and don’t find overpowering. However, if you are sensitive to scents, you may not like how this lotion smells. Compared to the Japanese sunscreens that i have tried, Dry Balance isn’t as lightweight in texture; but Dry Balance feels more lightweight than many of the other US sunscreens that I have tried.
One thing that I do find annoying is that this tube does not list the expiration date (this appears to be the norm with Banana Boat). Rather, it lists a product code of 170063951. I know that some brands will have a key to their product code or an explanation as to how one can tell when the product was manufactured. I could not find such an explanation on the Banana Boat website but I am hoping that the “17” that was in the beginning of the product code means that it was manufactured in 2017. Banana Boat does state on their website that the shelf life of their sunscreen is 3 years from the date of manufacture. Nevertheless, I think Banana Boat shouldn’t have to inconvenience consumers by having to guess the expiration date of their products so I docked off one lipstick in my overall rating.
