   Ooops, I did it again. I bought more makeup that I don’t need. This makeup stinks. It’s marketed as a powder sunscreen that doubles as a full coverage foundation, but really it’s just another bare minerals copy cat. Also, it doesn’t cover and yet, you look like you’re wearing a ton of powder on your face. I got golden fair and even though it blended right into my skin tone, you could still see the makeup on my face! Also, it doesn’t cover minor redness or any blemishes. It just leaves makeup dust on your face. Just awful.

   Ladies and gentlemen. If you are searching for an easy to apply, effective sunscreen I think it’s safe to say that you might be one step closer. Dermatologists, facialists, blogs, magazines, your skincare whore of a friend maybe all speak about the importance of SUNSCREEN! At leasts half of the topics on the skincare board end up with it. It bears repeating. But repeating it and actually finding one and applying it as frequently as one should, every two hours, are a different thing altogether. I bet the majority of people don’t. And no one can blame them. Most sunscreens on the market are chemical based, which I’ve noticed tends to favor the oily and acne prone group since they can be formulated with mattifying agents. Sometimes there are others that are just too greasy for even dry skin, and even when your skin would not break out, it’ll force it to react so that it does break out. And don’t get me started on mineral formulas, which are often drying and leave a stark, ashy cast. How is one going to desire applying the crap?! It occured to me to search on the Dermstore for a powder sunscreen, since on my skin it’s a vital necessity. I’m medium dark completed, with obnoxiously sensitive skin that will produce whiteheads if irritated. I also have a tendency to freckle and BURN in the Summer.

   Unlike the Fitzpatrick scale assumes, my skin has NEVER in my life responded well to the sun. I don’t take a nice color or even darken at all. My skin fizzies a little, gets dry and if I stay out too long, I peel sheets of burned skin in a few hours. I don’t have a disease. I’ve been check out. It only happens when I don’t wear SPF or a hat. Yes I’m a brown girl. I don’t know how common this problem is among darker folk, but we’ve seen it on fair people so you are familiar with it. You see it more frequently on them perhaps. It’s been an ASTRONOMICAL ODYSSEY finding a sunscreen that doesn’t leave a cast and actually protects me from burning. I’ve tried most of the powder sunscreen and most mineral foundation on the market. I can confidently say that after 6 months of trying it, I’ve found a happy home in this product. It took me the first two tries to find my shade, I tried the tan and the medium bronze before I found perfection on the deep bronze. But even then, they looked so good and natural I was beginning to fool myself! There’s a few powder sunscreens out on the market, yes, but none has the variety and skin friendly formula this company makes. I respect a company that puts effort in to their product, and they deliver on that.

   Easily the most superlative SPF I’ve ever tried. It has about 12 (more ot less but it is close, I’ve not counted tbh) perfectly adjustable shades and it is waterproof. Since you are supposed to apply SPF every two hours, this makes it easy to remember that. The powder has 19% titanium dioxide and 7% zinc oxide. It doesn’t say it on the container label but it does on the box.

   It has no chemical sunscreen. It provides a beautiful, a nicely luminescent matte finish that really mimicks natural skin texture. The effect is similar to how actresses looked on film noir in the Hollywood Golden Age. Or how Cybill Shepherd looked in the 1980’s TV series Moonlightning (discovered this on Youtube, I was struck by the glitter. And a gorgeous Bruce Willis, yum). They have this angelic, soft focused radiance that makes them look healthy and youthful. This does that. It livens up the complexion but doesn’t erase every single freckle off your face unless you wet and focus it which is a must for me since I don’t look right with a blank slate. That look diminishes me completely and I like how this perfects the complexion but doesn’t cover character. It travels nicely…I think any brush would work, I just use a simple ELF studio one, the buffing brush or the flat one from Wet n’ Wild.

   It is truly waterproof, since you’ll still see a bit on your face after washing. Oil cleansing is a must, but my skin dries too much that way so I delved into micellar waters. Ohhh yeahhhhh. Better. I can also attests to its sun protection. I used it to a family trip in the caribbean this past summer. I went to the beach, napped on a hammock, rode in the back of a tractor or two. Partied like a madwoman. Went hiking. Sand surfing…Adventure is my form of relaxation, and lets just say I got in a lot. In on average 90 degree weather on top of it all…my mom’s reaction will say it all: “Annie…you haven’t ‘lobstered’??!!”. The lobster thing is a running joke in my family, since my English-Italian grandfather is a redhead and two, he turns deep red if the weather gets too hot. He loves his seafood, especially lobster. When mom was a kid she noticed that when some lobsters are boiled, they turn red. Grandpa turns redder. He frequently wears red to enhance the look. Thus the joke was born. I was shocked myself at her reaction because she was the one that would give me healing ointments to help with the irritation. I couldn’t believe it but there it was. I really didn’t change my skin routine, it has been the same for almost three years. I’ve always burned and this past summer, I kid you not, I just sweated in response when I interacted with a strong sun. It was like that everyday. Everytime. For the whole summer. This I apply diligently every two hours and it layers beautifully with no breakouts. It’s pretty much undetectable.

   I feel like Tom Cruise on that Oprah fiasco. I cannot say enough. For me anyway, it’s the bees knees. I also hope this isn’t an annoying read to you, I try to be as true and honest as possible. Somethings just require a bit of Shakespeare to get the message across. It makes me giddy like a kid because I’m a big fan of what I call “McGyver” products. If it says what it does, as easy as it does, constantly, I’ll shriek like a fan girl and hand over my money. If it makes me prettier while at it, I become a fangirl. It’s a HG product for me.I’m glad someone finally made this!
