I have been using this Vichy SPF60 cream on my face for the past 15 years. I loved it and was the only sunblock I ever needed. I have dry skin and I would put this on immediately after I washed my face in the morning. The cream was thick enough that I didn’t need an extra moisturizer. I felt well protected from UV and my face looked nice (not shiny or matte, kind of dewy).
For whatever reason, I started breaking out (from hormones or my skin changed or my face wanted to try something new). The breakouts were all over the face, forehead, nose, chin, just everywhere. I didn’t change anything in my skin care routine.
So I had to try a whole bunch of sunblocks to find the next best thing for me (right now, I like the Mentholatum Sunplay SPF50). I still love this Vichy sunblock alot and use it on my neck and body, just not on my face. Many people have complimented on my skin over the years. I am 38 with dry skin but look 10 years younger.

Goes on matte which is great and I like that it’s fragrance free but the reason I won’t buy it again is bc they use chemical sunblock , not just zinc oxide. Overall it does work well. I have also tried the SPF 50 kids and it works the same.

I bought it on sale. This stuff is super greasy and heavy! It also leaves a white cast on your face like most sunscreen does. I definitely wont repurchase it.. The only thing i like abuot it its that it protects your skin really welll. during summer, i was always outside and i never got a sunburn! but i really cant stand having a greasy and heavy product on my face all day long..

I used this product for a while and wasn’t very happy with it. While it provided good protection, i found it greasy, hard to apply, the packaging is awful, it’s easy to spill. The cream clogged my pores and I couldn’t use powder afterwards cause it glued to the cream. Luckily, the bottle (50ml) only lasted me about 3 weeks (i applied it to my ears and neck too). IMO, not really worth it for 30$.

UPDATE: The Vichy Cap Soleil SPF 60 available in Canada has been reformulated — it’s now oil-based (contains isopropyl palmitate) and uses Mexoryl XL instead of Mexoryl SX. Although it might be an improvement in protection, I expect it would break me out. So much for this find. 🙁
ORIGINAL REVIEW: This review is for the Canadian Capital Soleil SPF 60 Lotion. I really like it! I have no new clogged pores since I started using this, so I think it’s going to be safe for my acne-prone, combo skin. In terms of wearability, it goes on a bit heavy and with a slight white sheen, but sinks in beautifully in a few minutes (although I’m a PPP, so YMMV on the whiteness). It has a serious shine from the sunscreen ingredients, but once I’ve powdered over it, it’s gone and stays gone all day. It doesn’t feel greasy at all once it’s sunk in; the shine is all chemical, not oily. Also, I use this around my mouth and eyes and it hasn’t bothered me at all in terms of irritation. Basically, once I’ve put on some powder, wearing this feels no different than wearing a lightweight moisturizer. I wouldn’t recommend it for no-makeup folks, but if you don’t mind needing to powder in the morning, then it’s great.

I got the Asian formula of this which is SPF 50 PPD 20. Unfortunately it gave me an angry rash everywhere I applied it – practically ruined my vacation. I had to see a doctor to get a hydrocortisone shot – it was that bad. I did spot test a few days before that on my arm – no reaction. I suppose the chemical buildup is cumulative. One other gripe is that allergic reaction aside, this stuff was SO sticky unlike the Shiseido formulas. The stickiness never went away the whole time I was wearing it. Also, in spite of the high PPD, I was exposed to evening sun (about 5 onwards) for about 2 hours on and off, and I STILL got tan. If you have sensitive skin, DO NOT fall for the claims on the box and do ensure to spot test for at least a week before wearing full body.

It is as good as the creme, but %50 cheaper since it is in a 100 ml tube.

I don’t like this sunscreen at all. I give it 2 points as it has high protection. I don’t think it is perfect for sensitive skin since my mom who has sensitive skin is irritated by it. For me, it does not irritate my complexion but it masses up my make up. I am sure that my make up malts and then, leaves white cast becaues of the sunscreen.

Once again I’m hoping I have the right product. Canadian Vichy Capital Soleil SPF 60 PPD 15. Worked well, no white cast, trouble matting the finish even with powder throughout day. I’d buy it for my body again but want something with fewer hassles/higher pdd for face.

This is also for the reformulated Lait-Gel Ecran Corps (PPD 28). it really isn’t a gel or milk, more like a gelish cream. Like the Icran Creme 60, this would not be good for everyday wear, especially under makeup, because it really does mess up your makeup. It has the bad tendency to look greasy AND dries out our skin at the same time (the alcohol!) It is also bad for swimming because it is not water-resistant. When I wore it for swimming it melted into my eyes and they stung like hell! I switched to my shiseido super duper water resistent sunscreen for swimming and it worked much better for that purporse.
But why did I still give it 4 lippies? well, for sun protection, it REALLY does its job. My husband and I climbed Mt. Fuji in Japan last weekend. It is the highest mountain in Japan. At such a high altitude (we were above clouds for a few hours), the sun’s rays are STRONG. I SLATHERED on this sunscreen everywhere on my face and wore long sleeve/pants, and reapplied a few hours into our hike just to make sure. We were out in the sun for about 6 hours and I didn’t even get a tan! But my husband, who only put sunblock on his face, neglected his neck, ears, hands, and legs—and sure enough he was burnt like a LOBSTER. His hands were so red that they looked like red gloves and he has the funniest burnt line along his ear/side of his necks–but his face where he put on this suncreen had absolutely no burn.
So I although I can’t wear it on my face on a daily basis, it does come in handy when you know you will be out in the blazing sun for many hours!
