I actually love and prefer a lot of things about this affordable SPF 50 for face product to many more expensive SPF for face products BUT the problem is that once my face sweated my eyes would start running.
What I like:
Matiffying
White colour goes away
Absorbs well
The packaging- good control
The colour of the packaging
The amount 50ml – not too much to ‘go off’ when you live in a less sunny country
Very faint faint sunscreen smell- matches summer right?
I will be using this up on my neck and rebuying it for my neck next summer.

I love it,the best sunscreen I’ve ever used on my face.I have oily skin,but all the sea salt really dries it out.The matifying version just dries the skin even more.This one is much more nourishing and calming to the skin.I’ve never used make up on top of it.

This is my new favorite sunscreen. Most sunscreens I’ve tried tend to feel way too oily on my face and/or leave a horrid white cast. Even the ones that claim they don’t. So when I find a sunscreen that really works well with my skin, I praise the gods.
This one is pretty thick as you first apply it and it goes on very white. Fear not though, because after mere seconds it melts into the skin beautifully, with no leftover white traces, and it goes completely and nicely matte. It feels like I’ve only used moisturizer, skin looks and feels velvety. Now that’s my kind of sunscreen.
It does have a strong-ish scent, but I really don’t mind it and it also goes away very fast. Makeup goes on just fine, no issues that I’ve noticed. SPF is high enough so I feel protected.
I plan to keep buying this for as long as it’s made.

Just bought this.it s good.it leaves the skin very soft.and not dry.but it s not heavy either.it was on sale and it was at a very good price.i m not sure if i ll buy it again since i havent worn it in my daily heavy routine.but i m confident it will perform well.it has high spf which i really want.i would recommend it.doesn t leave a white cast.
I ve worn it for a few months. It is very greasy for the summer time, especially when it s worn without any makeup. And foundation doesn t really do well with it. I will use it again in winter.

As a facial sunscreen, it doesn’t sink in at all. It leaves a very obvious white cast (and I’m fairly pale), and attempts to gently blend or pat it in cause it to ball up. Combining or layering with other sunscreens was also fruitless. This sunscreen is really only suitable for use on neck/body.

Please note that Vichy has reformulated and rebranded its sunscreens under “Ideal Soleil”, its no longer “Capital Soleil”. I have found my HG sunscreen! Ive used LRP Anthelios, Shiseido, Hada Labo, Biore and others before… but this one is my new favorite. I use SPF 50 daily. I have very fair, sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts. This is a lovely moisturising cream, yet feels very light and elegant. Has a faint floral/coconut scent, which I love. Works beautifully under makeup, in particular under my Vichy Idealia BB. I even use this on the eye area, so far no reactions. Can leave skin a bit shiny (which I don’t mind that much, but some might). I layer this over essence, serum and moisturiser but the sunscreen alone has so much moisturising power that I could easily see someone using just this as a moisturiser.
How does Vichy compare to other SPF 50 sunscreens? Compared to LRP Anthelios 50 (mat fluid) this cream feels silkier on skin, I always disliked the “grainy” feeling of Anthelios on my skin (although I have no other complaints on Anthelios, I did not get burned once during the 3 years I used it). So far I’ve not yet tried Anthelios for dry skin, but its definitely on my to do list. In terms of how Vichy feels on your skin, upon application, it reminds me more of Shiseido wet force SPF 50 360 cream (the yellow and blue one). However, Shiseido sinks in or melts into your skin faster, even though it has a lot thicker consistency. Vichy and Shiseido both leave a similar dewy finish, Vichy being slightly more shiny than Shiseido. Comparing Vichy Ideal Soleil to two other Japanese sunscreens Ive tried lately is like comparing night and day. Vichy has a thicker consistency and is more moisturising than Hada-Labo Koi-Gokujyun Perfect UV Gel SPF 50 (which I found to bee far tro drying on my skin, left my skin looking dull and grey from dryness and irritation). Same goes for Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50, which I preferred ovver Hada-Labo, but still I did not find it moisturising enough. In sum: if you prefer the lightweight japanese sunscreens, Vichy Velvety Cream might not be for you. However, if you are a fan of Shiseidos classic blue and yellow sunscreen, then Vichy’s Velvety Cream might be something to try out.
