   My hair: dry, thick but fine, long, wavy, straight and ringlets, schizophrenic hair.

   I recently decided to trial some of the Palmer’s shampoos, without conditioner, I don’t like faffing, the shampoo must show me what it can do on its own first and this smoothing olive oil shampoo left my hair soft, moisturised, shiny and swishy plumped with volume.

   I knew the matching co-wash was wonderful and this, it’s shampoo match by Palmer’s, is up to the same standard, as much as any shampoo can be, that Palmer’s olive oil co-wash transforms from dead looking, dried up haystack to voluminous satin with repeated use but one must properly cleanse sometimes and this shampoo does so beautifully.

   I never choose hair products by scent, I don’t want scent in my hair, it’s drying & usually smells cheap & to me & soon becomes sickening & offensive. Of importance to me is the effect of a formula on my hair & on that basis alone I rate these things.

   I use this shampoo with the matching co-wash alternately and when I can find the will, apply the co-wash to the lengths whilst the shampoo is on the roots.

   I’ve bought expensive (£15-24) shampoos, organic all natural, no nasties, should be gorgeous but left my hair dry and curls frizzy, so i’ve returned to Palmer’s, as though it’s always inexpensive, it has better formulas than most at any price. From body lotions to hair care, I always find I wasted money if I didn’t try Palmer’s first, used their ranges since my early teens & it surprises me to learn, considering the prices & modest marketing, image etc, they’re still the best.

   This is definitely not a sulfate-free shampoo that I would purchase again. I normally use Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat but I happened to run out the day before wash day. I really needed to clarify my hair, and since I follow the curly girl method, I didn’t want to just run out and purchase any old shampoo. I have heard a lot of natural curly girls rave about the Olive Oil line for Palmers on blogs, websites and youtube videos. The one that I hear people carrying on about most is the Olive Oil Formula Conditioner, but I’m sticking with my conditioner for life until it is either discontinued or they reformulate it. Shampoos…nothing I’ve found has really made me fall in love since I stopped using Organix Tea Tree Mint Shampoo (it smells like a peppermint chocolate cookie-SO GOOD).

   I went to purchase this shampoo, which in my area is only sold at Walmart or at random drugstores like CVS or Walgreens. I purchased it at Walmart for about $5.00 a bottle. I will say this-you get a good amount of product for the price you pay. The first thing I noticed about this product is the smell. It smells very chemically for a sulfate free product. I’m used to sulfate/paraben free shampoos smelling excellent-like coconut or flowers, like mint or ginger or pomegranate-in essence with a fragrant scent that puts me at ease. To me, this shampoo smelled like straight up chemicals.

   The other thing that bothers me about this shampoo is that it is EXTREMELY drying. Even while I was washing my hair, it just felt like it was stripping every single natural oil out of my scalp and flinging it into my shower-water. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a shampoo that was this drying. I know it’s meant to remove build-up but my goodness. When I was done shampooing I deep conditioned for twice as long and had to sit and detangle for twice as long to get rid of the tangles this left behind. My hair felt very stripped and squeaky clean. When my hair is that stripped, it is very difficult to detangle and it doesn’t feel healthy.

   I was anticipating that this shampoo would be a gentle sulfate free shampoo. It is not gentle, by any means. This shampoo is more like a punch to the face. I would not re-purchase this shampoo, and I do not intend to use it again. I am thinking of giving it to one of my friends with straight or wavy hair since I can’t see it doing any good for any of my family members or friends who have kinkier or extremely tight curl textures.

   10/29/2015 edit: This is definitely a clarifying shampoo. I should have made that clear in my original review. It deeps cleans the hair, so only use it once a week.

   I still love it.

   Edited to add: Once fully dried, I noticed that my hair looked as if it had doubled in thickness/volume. I love how this shampoo seems to have plumped up the strands. One might argue that the conditioner played a part, but you’ve got to remember I have used that conditioner many times without this result. I attribute the outcome to Palmer’s.

   I’m surprised by the angry reviews on this shampoo. I didn’t pick it for the price point nor because I was in a rush. I actually chose it after going through a bunch of ingredient lists online. I’m a nerd like that, rather than depend on reviews – I depend on the actual ingredients. And this shampoo had a bunch of good ingredients in it with fragrance being pretty low on the list. There’s proteins, natural oils, vitamin e, and synthetic lubricants in it. All lead me to believe it would be beneficial to my hair. I also chose it because I needed something that would cleanse my hair at the same time… and a lot of the sulfate-free cleansing conditioners just weren’t cutting it. I found a few I liked, but hair care is one of those categories I will always continue to try new products.

   So I tried it tonight and followed up with a decent conditioner (tonight in particular I used Nexxus Youth Renewal Cond.) The results have been awesome! There have been a ton of shampoos that have dried my hair out badly, regardless of using conditioner after. Hence why I went on a cleansing conditioner spree. There was actually a shampoo I used the other night that felt as if it *damaged* my hair. But tonight after rinsing my hair, i was immediately able to comb it. My waist length hair feels so soft! Yet the same time, I can tell my nasty greasy roots were fully cleansed.

   I will repurchase and continue to update.

   Ugh this is one of the worst shampoos that I have ever had the misfortune of using on my dry, frizzy hair. This stuff did not moisturize my hair at all and it left my hair a tangly mess that even following up with the matching conditioner was hard to detangle after shower. And the frizz. My gawd, the frizz was terrible! It was the worst frizz I’ve ever experienced in my life. So long story short, this stuff is murder to my hair. Also, this shampoo is not cheap in my country. 15 dollars per bottle. That’s 15 bucks down the drain, both literally and figuratively speaking. I don’t know why this works wonders on other people’s hair. Mine is the sulphate-free version.

   I was recommended by a friend to try olive oil shampoo because she found that it worked really well for her hair and highly recommended it. So, I decided to try it and hoped for the best. I was, however, quite disappointed. This shampoo wasn’t anything particularly special and really didn’t do anything to my hair.

   Palmer’s Olive Oil shampoo and conditioner are both on my list of top drugstore beauty products.

   I’m growing my hair out, and am very picky about the products I use on it. My hair is naturally straight, fine and is color-treated every 8 weeks.

   I tried this shampoo and the matching conditioner on a whim, and was very impressed with the results. My hair was soft, bouncy and shiny.

   This is not a shampoo that I would use every day, because of buildup. I have a whole arsenal of shampoos and conditioners that I alternate to avoid buildup/product fatigue. I use this shampoo whenever it looks like my hair is getting too dry and/or frizzy. I’d absolutely recommend this shampoo and the matching conditioner to anyone – I think it would work on just about any hair type.

   I was quite skeptical about buying this shampoo to be honest. I recently had a new hairdresser cutting my hair and she recommended this shampoo to me. It was under $5 at Wal-Mart and OMG . Its amazing. Let me just add, I have fine hair, but a lot of it. It’s very easily damaged and I am not ethnic. Surprisingly, this didn’t weigh my hair down, it lathers well, the smell isn’t the best but it makes my hair look nice so I have no complaints. Out of dozens of shampoos ranging from the cheapest of the cheap to super expensive ones, this is my favorite and I will continue to buy it. I have long hair and normally, I have an unbearable amount of split ends despite the fact that I rarely use heat on my hair. I think this product has had a part in keeping my hair moisturized and in better condition during these dry cold winter months. I will continue using this product and when pool season comes around I hope this product will continue to save my hair! Totally recommend

   This is my favorite shampoo of all time. I have naturally curly hair and this shampoo and conditioner softens abs defrizzes it like no other. It’s definitely a holy grail for this curly girl.

   It’s a lovely olive scent, a gel like formula but not jello like. It’s green too which I find adorable lol & so is the cabellina shampoo I mention.

   I’ve done everything too my hair. Bleach. Heat. Dye. Bad haircuts & I’m nourishing it back to health. My hair IS relaxed, but I’m Puerto Rican/Dominican. Naturally silky. Fried now. This is crucial! First I wash my hair with my cabellina rosemary chili shampoo, then this. This leaves my hair smooth, soft, silky, just amazing (all still in the shower). I honestly do recommend this, it leaves your hair light, bouncy, clean & silky. 🙂

    I got this as it said to remove product build up and I hoped it would cleanse my scalp. It was just okay and my scalp felt itchy sometimes after use. I would not buy this again
