You can easily use a powder from Rimmel or another drugstore brand to set your under eyes. And guess what you saved a lot of money have exactly the same ingredients and it looks the same! And just in case you feel the need to spend so much money on a worthless product, think again and spend the rest of the money to a charity.

I have been putting off writing a review for this because I am not excited about this product yet, but it deserves 5 lippies. It does everything it says and more. It is a great under eye setting powder, especially for those tackier concealers and/or those of us with aging eyes. It does subtly brighten the under eye area and looks soft and refined and not too heavy. And here is my favorite part about this product. It is white, but disappears on the skin, with a soft sheen (not glow or glitter, just a soft sheen). This makes it a great travel powder in both size (smaller than a face powder, bigger than an eyeshadow) and function. When I go on vacations, it is usually quite warm and I am always applying sunblock or just sweating like crazy. So I don’t wear setting powder on my face or foundation…just SPF & use blotting sheets or a hanky to dab sweat. Also when I travel, I usually bring a small simple eye palette like the ND Mini Nude or just a Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream eye shadow pot in Malted. While these are great and simple to use in the hot sun or on the fly, neither has a “wash” that I can use to brighten, possible subtle highlight the brow bone, or just to set the primer. But with the Blurring Powder, it is my wash, my highlight and my setting powder for the entire eye area. If your makeup quad doesn’t have a the “wash” shade (a soft skin like shade that you can use to set primer, clean up messes, or use for a subtle browbone highlight), this powder is perfect for all of that! So while I am used to having a great setting powder for the face as a whole when I was using MAC Careblend, I never used it all over when travelling or in the hot weather/travel. Now I have this great small packaged powder that is an all purpose eye setting powder for me. And if I needed it in a pinch, could work as an all over setting powder. But I do need to continue the search for a MAC Careblend replacement for the face. The Laura Mercier Blurring Powder has taken the urgency off of that search and allowed me time to be patient. As I age anyhow, I am trying to use less powder, so this is also a great transition item.
Disclaimer: I say I am not “excited” because it seems I am just adding another product to my regime, when one used to do the trick and it is expensive. But as I mentioned above, I may be cutting down on face powder anyhow, so perhaps this is a natural transition. This is expensive and I am glad I tried it. I did not return it and it has been very useful for summer and travel. It works better than a typical eye shadow or a more powdery face powder. I also like this better than the loose LM Translucent powder. All that said, I probably won’t replace it if I find an adequate replacement for my Careblend. As a dry skinned, mature woman it is hard to find powder that doesn’t age and accentuate lines. If you are younger, less dry, I am sure any old drugstore item would do the trick.

While it is technically designed for your under eye, you can easily use this powder all over the face and it does a great job at “undetectable” setting.
Say you have a blemish you just concealed and you don’t want to add any extra coverage to it, only set everything in place and blur at the same time – use this powder. Have oilier skin and need a good lightweight powder to set undereye? Use this powder.
Friendly price-tag and portable size make it a great on-the-go/travel companion. Plus it has no flashback, which is another great thing about it. I have dry skin and often use this through my T-zone or to further blur any problematic skin areas.
