love my essies, love the bottles, love the colour selection, love the brand
this, however, is a streaky finicky SOB of a polish
the colour at 3 coats is a beautiful soft milky nudey pinky white, the nude and pink blush stop it from being too stark on your nails, very feminine, very classic. That said, its got dupes in every brand of nail polish and I’m sure you can find this same colour for less money and in a better formula elsewhere.
As others have stated, its streaky, it gets bald patches, you try doing one thin layer and no matter how careful you are, you get inconsistent coverage and have to do another layer and another layer – its a 3 to 4 coater with dabbing on the bald patches for me. Then its a slow drier. I’ve put a quick dry top coat on mine about 40 minutes ago and I’m still trying to avoid letting anything touch this polish and mess up my mani. (previous mani’s using this polish have resulted in bubbling the next day for me as well)
The brush is one of those thin Essie brushes, beloved by some, hated by others. The formula is not 3 free, but I’m past child bearing age and couldn’t care less:-)
Others may decide to purge, but not me, I’m a sucker for punishment and I will persist with this SOB until the bottle is done. I won’t have to rush out and buy another bottle of this simply as I know I have several other polishes in my stash with the same or very close in colour.
That said, it is a pretty colour and I do like it.

Love this with one coat — it’s a very sheer milky nude, more on the peach side than pink. It makes my nails look naturally perfect (and not too shiny) and it dries very quickly. I get streaks and inconsistent depth with two coats, though. It’s nice as a manicure but too neutral and sheer for my taste in pedicures.

Pretty color but very inconsistent application. On some of my nails it looks great – no streaks, relatively opaque in 3ish coats. However on some of my nails it looks streaky, patchy and just not nice. I spent a long time trying to make it look good, but this just doesn’t really work for me. I’ll probably try again in a little while because the color is really nice, but only if I have a lot of free time to do my nails.

PROS:
– color (white base w/ slight pink tones)
CONS:
– not Big-3-free
– brush/bristles are too narrow
– horrendously streaky (even after 3 coats)
I’m definitely returning this ASAP. I’ve never dealt w/ a polish soooo streaky. Ugh… =(

I knew I had to have this polish from the moment I heard of it and saw bottle pics-I love that it’s named after Real Simple magazine, and so appropriate for an Essie sheer! But for some reason I just kept avoiding it-I wanted to try Mademoiselle and Sugar Daddy and all the other popular shades. Ironically this turned out to be my favorite Essie sheer out of every one I’ve ever tried (a fair amount!) I’m definitely warm, although I’m pale, and all of the popular Essie colors and sometimes it seems, all nail colors are just plain too cool toned for me. Too much pink looks sickly against my yellowy skin. If you are like me and need a sheer with a warm or neutral tone, try Real Simple. It’s a lovely peachy color, but it manages to be warm/neutral toned while having a little bit of pink and not just being flat out tan. (Like Essie Fed Up was on me) In fact even someone who is cool or neutral, but not too cool, could rock it. LOVE it! The only thing is, with three coats it gets very white, it’s definitely very milky. Sort of the warmer version of Vanity Fairest without the shimmer, or the slightly pinker version of Fed Up. The application was awesome for an Essie, no streaks, I was amazed. HG, HG, HG, total rave.

Real Simple (yes, named after the magazine) came out with Essie’s 2006 Anniversary collection. It’s a typical Essie colour: a sheer pink creme intended for French manicures. I find Real Simple to be streaky, although at 3 coats it is opaque and matches the colour in the bottle. The colour itself is a light creamy pink that I think looks okay on my warm skintone, though it is more of a neutral-to-slightly-cool pink.
