Broke me out. I prefer the 2% hyaluronic acid b/c it doesn’t break me out and it works better with my dry skin.

Probably one of my favorite products from TO. I was looking for a cruelty free and more affordable replacement for Biotherm Life Plankton essence that I love and tend to splurge on during bonus reward redemption days at my SDM. Enter Marine Hyaluronics. This feels like water but once absorbed leaves skin feeling silky smooth and ready for my next skincare steps. I find this with Vichy Mineral 89 serum overtop is a winning combination. It has a permanent home in my morning skincare routine which is primarily focused on hydrating my dry skin so it won’t feel tight or dehydrated during the day. If you apply too much it will feel slightly sticky but this is definitely a very watery, make that extremely watery thin consistency compared to many other hyaluronic acid serum products. I’m thrilled I no longer have to spend $$$ on Biotherm which is also not cruelty free.

That’s a lovely hydrating serum. Very light, but it definitely makes a difference. I didn’t like it that much during the winter since it was too light to help my skin then. However, during the summer it’s perfect for my combination skin.

I bought this product with high hopes, in hindsight, I should have done more research before I purchase. Actually I just blind purchased a lot of products from the line and I am regretting it now, this is one of the regrets.
This product didn’t do anything for me, it is like salt water (the same feeling when you just dip in beach water), it is watery and when it dries, my skin feel tacky…and it stays that way until you layer it with another product… It has no hydration, no silkiness, nothing, nada!…
I am using it now on my neck, my elbow, my knees and my ankles, anywhere, just so I dont waste it. and top it with the plant based Squalene – another tacky not-for-me product.

As far as Hyaluronic Acid goes, this is one of the better ones I’ve tried in comparison to many others.
When I initially tried it, my skin literally felt like water being poured on barren land. It drank it up and it was very comforting for my dry skin. But as I worked my way through half the bottle, it lost that hydrating effect. Maybe my skin was better. I also like this formula because it’s light and not tacky/sticky.
I’ve read feedbacks that the smell bothered some people but personally I didn’t get that.
I would repurchased because it’s really performs better than the other brands I’ve tried so far.

This isn’t a bad product at all, but not that great either. I see no difference with this and their usual 2% HA serum. I think is a good product for those with very oily to combination skins, who want to moisturise with something that isn’t a lotion, gel or a cream, not even a serum, this is more like a liquid moisturiser and perfect for the summer months.
I used this religiously for one solid month, enough time to know if a skin care product is working for you or not and I must say all it gets from me is one big “Meh!”.
I will not be repurchasing but others may enjoy this.
P.S
I feel The Ordinary is making too many products like this, that feature too many “novel” ingredients. They need to stop using us as guinea pigs and stick to research proven ingredient which is what made them famous.

Cheap and good. Some may say it’s hydrating, but it’s really good for me

As another person put it “my skin drinks this!”. Yep! I’ve had the same feeling, my skin is plumped and refreshed when I use this. It’s not heavy so perfect for my combination skin in the summer. It hydrates without making my skin congested. Yes, the smell is funky. But it disappears and I’m not someone who tends to get fixated on that. If something smells heavenly to me, I can’t help but translate that to “packed full of irritants”. TO products seem to be hit or miss with most people – for me this one is a definite hit and one I keep reaching for this spring/ summer.

My skin is dehydrated, oily and flaky my pores are very big and at 27 I start to see some very fine lines under my eyes
I always searched for the perfect light product that does not make me oily or sticky during the day but will really hydrate my skin. My skin is funky after washing I NEED to put something on quick bc it feels sooo thight and dry and would start to flake (I always use gentle cleansers) and usually my skin only feels relaxed when I use something a bit richer that leaves a slight barrier on my skin. But as my skin gets oily during the day that product starts to get sticky and my makeup slides around.
I used a few korean Lotions but I dont like fragrance in my skincare.
And then I found this bottle filled with everything I ever wanted in my skincare. This is my HG for several months – I used 4 bottles up and always have 3-4 backups. I wash my face, dry it with a towel and then I use 4-5 drops all over my face inkluding eyes (I go close to the eyes till the lashes and I use it on my lids) and lips. Then I follow with the rest of my routine. I switched most of my products to the ordinary and NIOD with great results.
I will forever buy the marine hyaluronics! I can use it on its own with or without moisturizer and I started to mix it with other serums to make them thinner and absorb better. 1 drop Niacinamide + Zink PCA and 4 drops marine hyaluronics is my go to morning combination.
And I mix it with the L ascorbic acid powder on other days.
I dont mind the smell and I gave it to a few familymembers and friends (it is affordable and I love to gift my loved ones beauty products I enjoy) and everyone still uses this and we all think that this is such a great product that we dont mind the smell :).
Sorry for my english it is not my first language 🙂

MY SKIN DRINKS THIS.
After cleansing and a chosen serum, I place a few drops of this in my palm, rub my hands together, and pat it on areas of my face: forehead, cheeks, chin, neck…. Before I’m finished applying it to the next area, it’s disappeared on the last one.
How much I use depends on the demands of the day. Sometimes one pass is enough; occasionally, it takes two applications. At times, it just needs more on a specific area. When my skin looks and feels properly hydrated and plumped, it’s had enough to drink and I’m done.
The clear liquid is whisper-light. It has no scent I can detect. The product absorbs immediately into the skin. No itching, burning, swelling, tingling, reactions or redness whatsoever.
The results are instant. Fine lines disappear and skin looks refreshed. While the suggested use is morning and night, I have also used this whenever my skin seems dulled or thirsty. I have experienced no down-side to using this product whenever necessary, sometimes several times a day.
This product can be used alone, added into an already existing routine, or folded into other products (foundations, lotions, oils or creams) to give an extra boost of hydration. I’ll use this year-round; however, with the warming seasons, it’s the perfect moisturizer.
I cannot fathom how much money I have wasted on moisturizers and treatments over the years, trying to work with my somewhat dry, sensitive skin, always wondering why none of the products quite worked out. Even though I drink more than enough water daily, it turns out that my skin’s just topically thirsty, and it’s favourite drink (after water) is MARINE HYALURONICS.
You have nothing to lose by trying this and the price point is pennies on the dollar. Its versatility alone is exceptional. Do something nice for yourself and put a bottle of this in your shopping cart right now. Your skin will love you for it.

Above is my review for MARINE HYALURONICS (by EL on 03 May 2018) from The Ordinary website. I order all my DECEIM products directly from their site, so I’ve posted my reviews of their products there. My reviews are listed under EL (although I am not the only EL listed there) but all my reviews follow this format and style, so I’m not hard to find there. As I was not a member of Makeup Alley until today, I’ll repost the review here.
It’s worth noting that, several months later, I am still using this product, alone and mixed in with other products. If I’m really dehydrated, I mist with a spray of filtered water afterward or for a special treat, Caudalie’s Grape Water. Between the lifetime habit of drinking lots of water and this new addition to my routine, my skin stays well hydrated from the inside out and the outside in. Hope this works as well for anyone interested or in need!
