Such a shame that this has been discontinued… it was the perfect consistency of cream/gel… as someone who has dry flaky red skin, yet gets pimples from anything that’s “deeply moisturizing” it is hell for me to find a product that can sooth, moisturize, yet not give me breakouts. Also that amazing La Mer glow! (As a mom with young kids I look a lot better than I should; and it’s thanks to La Mer) Absolutely worth the money… one jar lasted me half a year, took away redness, flakyness and I had a glow even without makeup. Unfortunately, this has been replaced by the ‘cooling gel cream’ which has a different, longer ingredient list (a lot more fillers, junk, etc.) And yes… caused breakouts. So once my last jar is used up… that’s it. Upon speaking to a La Mer rep, she suggested that I try the Treatment Lotion for the summer… so we shall see.

Unfortunately this fantastic product is discontinued and replaced by The Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream as of February 2018.
The Moisturizing Gel Cream is a very light and refreshing, yet deeply hydrating gel that absorbs fast leaving a very elegant silky finish on the skin without any (oily) residue.
Excellent for the summer/warmer months but can also be worn as a “serum” under a richer moisturizer in the winter/colder months.
The replacement, The Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream, is a much heavier version that is more like a cream than a gel. Devotees of the Gel Cream might not find this newer version as elegant and flattering as the original.
I personally find that the The Moisturizing Gel Cream was preferred by people with oilier/combo skin, while the new version will be more suitable for combo/dry skin types or even very dry skin in the summer months or humid climate.
A very close replacement would be the new Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator.

I don’t know what is in this gel cream (right, it’s a secret), but it is ASTOUNDING. I used a sample, thinking that its backstory was a bunch of nonsense. I went about my business, and happened to glance in a mirror a few minutes after application. I did a double take then just stared. My skin, which had been red and slightly irritated just moments before, was even-toned and somewhat “glowing.” !!!! I thought it had to be a fluke. But same results again the next morning.
The product leaves my skin incredibly soft, a little goes a very long way, and it ALWAYS makes my skin look better. Even on days that I’m having some uncomfortable kind of rosacea or allergic reaction, this usually clears it right up. (If it’s a really bad day, I put some hydrocortisone cream on after applying this.) As my sensitive skin often has a reaction to fragrance, I’m amazed that the lovely fragrance in this doesn’t bother it at all.
I’m gobsmacked at the exorbitant price, but am clear that I *always* need to have a jar of this on my makeup shelf. It is the best moisturizer I have ever used, bar none. The only drawback is that, as a gel, it’s quite light, and not enough for winter months. I just put another moisturizer on top of it, so I get the “glow” even in winter.

Broke me out into painful cystic acne on my chin and sides of my face within 1 day of use. Whenever I put this on, I felt a warm, flushed feeling and my skin never felt completely moisturized. Shame as it does give off a very subtle glow. Skin is sensitive and acne-prone.

Started using this months back till now, and am still contemplating if I will be buying it again (definitely yes!) Love the subtle hint of rose (or is it just me?) and the product does help to moisturize my combination & sensitive skin. I’m glad that I do not get any sorts of reactions nor breakouts, which is great! However, do not get this if you are experiencing the cooler seasons. I traveled out over the autumn and it did not help. My skin was left overly dry & patchy no matter how much i applied it. But I’d recommend it to anyone who is keen on using it over the sunny days.

First, I think it’s important to say that it’s been like 10 years since I am searching for the perfect moisturizer that would give my skin everything it needs. I tried lots and lots of creams but each of it was having more cons than pros, or would make my sensitive skin break out like crazy. I tried Avene, Vichy, Skinceuticals, Paula’s choice, Clinique, Estee, Chanel, Erno Laszlo, Lancome, Dior, La Prairie, you name it. I have tried lots, but always avoided La Mer because of the negative reviews that supposedly didn’t justify the high price. Anyway, I took a chance and bought the big version of the Gel de la Mer (60ml) and OMG I am thrilled. This is perfect for my combination to oily skin, that is also super sensitive and breaks out immediately. I apply it both AM and PM by following the application technique provided on their website and it works like a miracle. I don’t know if it’s the miracle broth or whatever , but this moisturizer makes my skin glow like no other. It also heals my breakouts and I swear my skin is baby soft and it never been like this before!
I only used it for a month now and I don’t think I will ever get back to anything. Even if I use it regularly, and sometimes I put on my fingers more cream than I should (From time to time, I love making that extra gentle massage and for this you need a tad more) I think it will last at least 3 months.
I must be honest I was always skeptical about the story behind this cream and about the fact that some celebrities swear by this, but now that I am using it, I must say I understand why some people rave about it. For some it may not work, but for me this is truly a miracle in a jar. I will definitely repurchase when I am out of it! ❤️

I tried a sample of this product in a little container which lasted me 2 weeks, so a little really does go a long way. I wish I could afford this product again 🙁 my skin is a little sensitive and goes dry in winter, I look for moisturisers that will make my skin soft, glowing, stay hydrated. I used this product on its own and it was a bit light but I mixed it with Avene Rich creme and I swear to god this is the perfect combination!!!! My skin was softer and dewier, my friends also commented. I think this product would be perfect for people where dryness is not too much of a problem.

My new holy grail moisturizer! Just 3 days into Gel de La Mer and my face has already started glowing. My face definitely looks much more radiant and it looks even better with a bit of makeup. Will definitely repurchase!

A little ex for a moisturizer but a little goes a long way. In any case, this doesn’t just moisturize, it leaves the skin kinda baby soft just after one week of use. Wish it came in a pump bottle instead of a tub but no biggie.

I tried this cream when I stayed over at my cousin’s place but did not find any difference after application, so I decided not to buy it.
However, I tried this product the second time and my face looked and felt amazing the next day.
I applied Lancome Vissionaire serum and continued by applying gel de la mer. This combination worked sooo well for me.

Diminish small acne scar
