I have been a pretty loyal Superdefense user for well over ten years now, and the few times I have tried replacements, I have been disappointed and gone right back. Superdefense is on the pricey side for me – about $48 for the jar – however, they do last me several months will daily use on my face, neck, and chest. I like that it lacks a fragrance, sinks into skin, and doesn’t affect my makeup. I am disappointed to hear that Clinique tests on animals in China and that is making me rethink repurchasing when I run out, but I have yet to find anything that works this well for my skin.

I am normally not a fan of Clinique moisturizers. I purchased this because it was on sale and I thought it would make a good winter day time cream, especially when I am exercising out. Since it is SPF 20 (mine says 20 not 25 on the jar) I thought I could get away without using sun screen on those rainy, cloudy, not sunny days of Istanbul.
It has a very thick consistency, unusual for a combo – oily skin product, but I guess it was all right because I didn’t detect any breakouts due to its formula. It is one of those creams that leaves a thin film on the skin after applying. Not many people are fan of jar packaging but I don’t mind it.
Overall it is an okay product. I am not impressed, definitely wouldn’t repurchase this particular cream but I will keep on looking for a good moisturizer with sun block.

I like this product. It feels rich going on but absorbs really quickly. It is a winner for my combination skin and a little goes a long way.It is expensive but you get a lot for your money. The only thing I don’t like is the jar packaging but I would still buy this again

I have sensitive oily skin that is intolerant. This product absorbed very quickly and did not break me out. It doesn’t have much of a fragrance but it does kind of smell like sunscreen. I have received compliments on the way my skin looks. It does a great job moisturizing and hydrating my face. I would reccommend.

Where to start? This product is a serious waste of money for people who have oily skin, in my opinion. Although Clinique indicates this moisturizer is for oily skin, this is just awful for that type of skin. This product had great reviews online and I honestly love Clinique, but I’ve never been more disappointed. I can’t use it in the morning or I’ll spend the whole day looking like I’ve just got out of a sauna. I can use it at night before going to sleep because I’m not going anywhere, but I will need to clean my face very well when I wake up for sure. However, I came to realize (even at night) it’s not good for my skin as it helps creating more oil over time.
Another bad thing about it is its price. We all know Clinique is not exactly a cheap brand, but if the products are worth it, I don’t mind the high price all that much. Not the case of this product: it is not worth the price.
The packaging is ok. It’s a simple jar and easy to use. Nothing special.
As to those who have mature and extremely dry skin, I would maybe recommend you try a sample. I tried this moisturizer on my mom’s skin and we both thought the result was good (not the best though). Her skin looked fresh and shiny (in a good way, not in that “sauna” way). However, we used other products before that (all by Clinique) such as a liquid facial soap (daily routine), a scrub (this should be done from one to three times a week, depending on your skin) and a toner (daily routine). Just using a moisturizer without a clean face won’t do any good.
Overall, I don’t like this product, I won’t be buying it again and I don’t recommend it (specially if you have oily skin).

A sure fire way to give yourself dermititis. Never suffered perioral dermititis until i used this and moisture surge,
As others have mentioned. Red, itchy and then peeling skin EVERY time i used these two products.

I.ve bought this product when it came out. The clinique seller told me that this product was perfect for my skin type. I told her that my skin was very sensitive and she told me to not be worried because all clinique products are allergic tested. Yeah right.
The morning after I applied my new moisturizer, minutes later I started to feel my face a bit itchy which made my way to the bathroon to wash my face. But it was too late. I have to see a doctor who prescribed corticoids. Three weeks later … I wasn.t so sure if it was the moisturizer that had provoke that allergic reaction afterall clinique is a well known cosmetic brand.. So I give it a try and applied it again. BIG MISTAKE. This time my skin went so itchy that i wanted to pull it off. It was the worst situation ever. I went mad with that intense itchy feeling. I went immediately to the doctor and this time I got a cortisone injection.

This is the perfect way to start the day. Antioxidants, a good spf, oil-free moisture. I slap it on and it sinks right in. The only thing I don’t like is the jar packaging. But Cliniques City Block has better tube packaging which maintains ingredients and I might try that after I’m through with this jar. I’ve never broken out from using this and it’s been a good 3 months. Really good product.

Love the product! It really gets along well with my oily skin, makes it feel moistutrized, yet it soaks in, clean and healthy. I would not mind if it was in a tube though.

I have combo-sensitive-oily skin, but I don’t really react to things usually, if anything I’ll get dry and have some breakouts that stop after I stop a product… THIS product, along with Origins Better By Nature moisturizer with SPF both have given me an allergic reaction within an hour or two of using it – I have even tested a tiny amount on my arms/hands to make doubly sure. I am just now starting to recover from the overall red, bumpy skin, and THEN an acne flareup afterwards, and it’s a week after I used it.
On another note, it wasn’t even particularly good as a moisturizer – it felt pretty greasy when I had it on.
FYI for people allergic to this product, I have a feeling that because Clinique and Origins are both owned by Estee Lauder company, and both products that gave me this allergic reaction were moisturizing lotions with SPF, that the Estee Lauder company must have some base ingredient in both that caused a reaction. I don’t know exactly what, but I am not buying anything from an Estee Lauder company brand again…
