I have the Hydramucine Optimal Cream. It is amazing. It is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used and one I will keep buying though it is pricey. I have had problem skin for much of my life – oily, yet flaky, prone to acne, it’s just been a headache. But, this moisturizer provides instant gratification. I stopped using it for awhile because I didn’t make it to the spa that sells it (I now buy it online) and my skin went back to being horrible. Every time I would try to apply make-up or a BB cream, my skin would be flaky and it would look horrible. But, with this moisturizer, flakiness is instantly gone and my face is smooth and soft. I think the G.M. Collin line is really great (and I feel like I’ve tried everything….). Highly recommend!

I have been using this moisturizer for a month, and I think it is my favourite one I’ve tried so far, so I intend on sticking with it for a while. I have usually combination-oily skin and hate using moisturizers because all the ones I had tried before have made my face greasier. This one has the benefit of both hydrating my face AND keeping the oils at bay. I am always surprised to see my nose matte when I use this product because it had never happened before! I usually always blot at least once a day, and since using this moisturizer I seldom take out my blotting sheets package anymore. One thing I’ve noticed that bugs me a little bit however is that if you rub the product in just a little too much, it starts clumping! I just dust the clumps off but I find it a little strange. The smell is also a little strong for my liking, but it doesn’t linger so I am not too put off by it. It’s definitely expensive (nearly CAN$80) but worth it for me if that’s the only thing that will not break me out or make me oily after an hour.

UPDATE 2012/05/24: I’m bringing the rating down on this one. While this product worked really well for me at first, in the recent months my skin has become a little more sensitive and doesn’t respond to this moisturizer anymore. It seems to just sit on top of my skin and my skin remains flaky, which makes make-up application really difficult. Also, I’ve noticed how many ingredients there are in this product, it’s quite off-putting. I’m glad I won’t have to repurchase it due to the price, too — I’ve switched to La Roche Posay Toleriane Fluide, which is much, much better for my skin.

UPDATE 2012/10/11: I’ve now been able to attribute the pilling/clumping problem to Kiehl’s Herbal Blue Astringent and not this moiturizer. But my previous update still stands!

I looooove this moisturizer! I have very oily skin normally but during the winter my face can get pretty dry and dehydrated. I never really liked using moisturizer just because they all seemed to make my face more oily than it already was. This moisturizer doesn’t do that at all.. nor does it cause breakouts for my acne-prone skin. It feels light, not heavy or greasy, and feels like I don’t have anything on my face. It also has a nice smell. I don’t think I’ll be looking for another moisturizer.. this one does everything I’d expect a good moisturizer to do, leaves my skin supple, and feels nice on my oily skin.

This moisturizer is amazing. It has taken me a VERY long time to find something that works for my dehydrated combination skin. Oily skin moisturizers are not nearly moisturizing enough and dry skin ones are too greasy. The optimal gel is the perfect balance and it has really smoothed out those dehydration lines on my face. I use it along with the puractive cleanser and puractive treating lotion. I love it!

This moisturizer is very nice–Moisturizes my combination/oily skin without making it too oily or causing breakouts. Smells really nice.
If I hadn’t found something even better, I would repurchase it, but I prefer Paula’s Choice over this, even though it is very good.

I have the Creme hydramucine optimal cream– I don’t know if it is the same as the gel. I am on Retin A micro (every other day) for acne (in the summer but have to stay on it all year) and now anti aging benefits are an added perk. I used to use La Mer because my skin would get so dried out and irritated, La Mer definitely improved my skin problems and I could even use it in the summer without breaking out (changed my cleanser). Unfortunately, it didn’t absorb well (even with the warming tips given in the directions) but I was willing to overlook that as it was the only moisturizer I could find that hydrated my skin enough— and I tried many.
The cost of La Mer was just getting out of control $134 for a 1 ounce pot of the cream??? Even my dry, flaking skin couldn’t justify that any longer. I received a sample of the GM Collin Hydramucine optimal Cream from an aestician and low and behold— my skin is hydrated and not breaking out. An added boon– it absobs quickly and smooths out the surface of my skin without feeling oily- all for less than half of La Mer and almost twice as much product (I picked it up for $59 for 1.7 oz.) !!!!!! YEAH!! If I don’t breakout in the summertime— I am 100% sold.

Love this.
I tend to shower in very hot water, leaving my skin very dry.
I also have oily skin, but this moisturizer is wonderful! My skin absorbs it, doesn’t feel greasy, and brightens my skin.
My aestician (spelling?) reccommend it for winter (for me)

This is now my HG moisturizer. Nothing leaves me skin glowing like this does. It’s light weight and readily absorbed into my skin. Awesome stuff. Smells lovely.
