This is actually a very good brush cleaner. It does the job and cleans brushes very well, and it also conditions the brushes, leaving it soft when dried. I have the beautyblender solid pro as well but it doesnt leave the brushes as soft. In terms of performance, the sephora one is comparable, maybe even better as it conditions very well. Obviously there is a huge size difference between the 2, but if you need to save some dollars, this is a good alternative. Unfortunately, it is now discontinued.

I have repurchased this solid brush cleaner several times after it was suggested to me by a Sephora SA. I love this solid cleaner and this is such a good product to use. My brushes get clean within moments and I no longer have to dedicate an hour to cleaning all of my tools. Love, Love,LOVE!!

This speeds up my brush cleaning process before I purchased this I dreaded cleaning my brushes because I had to use olive oil and baby shampoo and it was such a hassle. $19 Can.incl.tax seems like a lot for a bar of soap but it makes such a difference!!! This product lasts a really long time I used it once and there was barely a dent.It has everything you would need to clean your brushes in a jar, it’s super compact so it is perfect for travel or then the small version for $10 is travel-friendly as well. The texturized piece of silicon is very helpful as well and the smell is amazing! This is how I wash my brushes using the Solid:
1. wet brush under cold-ish water (doesn’t loosen glue)
2. wipe brush over soap to load soap (don’t scrub)
3. gently rub in circular motions on the silicon pad
4. rinse gently and repeat if water doesn’t run clear

You can totally reuse container after you run out

I’ve only been using this for about a week but since I wash my brushes and Beauty Blender every day, that counts, right? I learned some time ago that not keeping my brushes immaculate was the quickest path to breakouts for me. Once I started cleaning things every day, my skin improved immensely. True story.
I’ve tried lots of other cleaners (MAC, which I do still like; Sephora spray, homemade, etc.), but I honestly think this is the easiest.
I pop the soap out of its little dish, dampen it, then dampen my brushes and swoosh them once or twice along the top of it. I work the soap in with my fingers, rinse the brush head with lukewarm water, then give it a little scrub on the pink scrubber disk, and rinse again. Then i blot them all well with a hand towel, gently squeezing the water out, reshape them, and lay them flat to dry.
After all this, I do rinse the soap bar off and put it in the slotted soap dish I use for artisan soaps so it can dry completely. I also pop the pink disk out of the lid so it can dry too.
Does it sound like a lot of work? It’s not, truly, takes less than five minutes, tops, and makes sure i’m not letting little nasties grow in my brushes…and that i’m not transferring them to my skin. (Blech) Well worth the few precious minutes, imho.
If you don’t get the soap rinsed out cleanly, your brushes will be hard the next time you use them. Don’t ask how I know. 🙂
So…will I buy again? Yeah, I think so.
I don’t notice a strong scent with this at all and it looks like it’s going to last quite a while.

I have the mini version of this. I believe it has a different scent to it. $10CAD for 0.6oz vs $17 1 oz (for the full size). Price works out to be relatively the same price.
I was blown away by how effectively this solid cleanser cleans my brushes!!!! It also shortens the drying time as well – I don’t know how, but it does. Also, the mini version lasts a long time too!!
The scent is nice and pleasant…best of all, it doesn’t ruin/dry out my brushes!!!
This solid cleanser works well on all sorts of brushes: natural/synthetic hair, fluffy/dense brushes etc.
Love that it comes with a little scrubbing pad!
I will definitely be re-purchasing this!! I will most likely be purchasing a backup!
***UPDATE*** I have already purchased 2 back ups of this solid cleanser! After using this on a daily basis for a month, I do notice that it does leave some residue on my brushes. This solid soap definitely doesn’t replace a good washing. I wash my brushes thoroughly once a week with anti-bacterial soap.

price is great! cleans brushes wonderfully and they dry fast. my large kabuki usually takes a full day to dry with soap and water but with this cleanser, it will be dry in a couple hours. love, love!

I bought this cleanser after I ran out of my beauty blender solid cleanser, I decided to try it out, and boy! I’m glad I did. I can compare it to the BB solid cleanser and say this does a great job, if not the same. I’m about to buy my third one. I like the silicone pad included, how fast I clean my brushes/sponges and how great it smells. I really recommend you to give it a try.

I am a big fan of the bb solid cleanser, but thought this might be better since it has that pink silicone pad for dislodging debris on the brushes (the grid at the bottom of the bb solid brush cleaner container just doesn’t do it for me). It’s a couple of dollars cheaper ($14 versus $16), so not exactly a huge savings. At first, I was really impressed. It seemed to clean my brushes quickly and effectively. But then, I noticed I could not get some brushes, such as my Sigma flat top, clean with this. That may be because the pink silicone pad isn’t designed to get deep into the brush. In addition, this cleanser doesn’t work well on the beautyblender, which is a must. And now, with about 1/3 of it left, the entire bar keeps falling out of the container. Although this is Sephora’s best selling brush cleanser, I won’t be repurchasing it.

Really happy with this product! Washes brushes effectively without being too harsh and I love the scent!
