I got a box of this as a gift. Key point which allowed me to possibly find out why some reviewers felt dry and others happy about this product on other sites. First time around I did my usual simple routine, cleanse, BHA, mud pack, oil cleanse/massage/grits, toner then mask. Mask 1, Me 0. Huh?? When I took it out of the package, the inside was dry. Although it seems it’s supposed to be that way. The mask consistency is like Salonpas gel sheets. Hello stickiness. I put it on for 30min. It sticks like a second skin, awesome to finish some chores while you mask.
Now the results….. Someone was not kidding when they complained about it being hydroDRY. I think I ended up being dryer. Few days later 2nd try. Mask 2, Me 0. Holy parched land!
I wasn’t about to give up tho I had 3 more left. I couldn’t imagine the jart series would merchandise a product mask that PARCHES faces… I stopped for a while trying to get my thoughts and gather any info if any tips regarding this mask. Sadly none. But I remembered one info on Reddit, something about not leaving mask sheets till they dry on your face because some can suck back the moisture on your face. So in that logic whatever’s dryer has the stronger suction…. *gears turn in head*
The first 2 times I used the mask, my face was plumply hydrated and waiting for the mask, like any of my OTHER sopping wet masks. Needless to say I dried out then.
3rd try! Cleansed in the shower, and put nothing on. This is the time my face dries out and screams for my shiseido eudermine. I deny it, and go straight to the hydrogel mask. 30min…. Mask 2, Me 1. My untampered dry face has won in the moisture tug of war. (seriously?) I even noticed the mask itself sorta thinned out compared to the first 2 tries. My face was indeed hydrated.
Now I’m not sure if this is the way it’s supposed to be done… maybe my skin is just stubborn. Or this product could be leaning towards people with exceptionally dry skin pre-toners/moisturizers. Either way this is how I made my hydroDRY into the proper hydrogel. >,>

I really prefer hydrogel masks to regular cotton sheet masks. Whereas cotton masks are sopping with serum and feel kind of gushy on (and can flop all over the place) the gel base of this mask contours and fits the face perfectly. It’s very comfortable and even pleasant to wear (which I do not find to be the case for cotton sheet masks, even the high-end ones at a similar price point to Dr. Jart). As for formula of this mask, it did leave my skin feeling nice and plump, filled out and refreshed. That effect didn’t really last, though. Which bring me to price- these masks are EXPENSIVE. I’m just not one to pay $20 for a single mask, especially one that doesn’t really provide any more than passing effects, which I can get from much cheaper masks. Also, hydrogel masks aren’t swimming in serum (the treatment is in the gel) so it’s not like you’ll get multiple extra serum treatments from the package. Final analysis, way too expensive for what it is.

Mine seemed dried out. It did absolutely nothing.

Please DO NOT waste your money on this. This is a very expensive mask ($25CAD/use) and it does less than nothing for your skin. I have heard great things about this line of sheet masks, and I really wanted to love this product. The packaging is beautiful and the mask itself is made of a very high quality cotton backing with a 2-part, easy-to-apply gel side that really stays put as long as you have it on. The ONLY problem is that this mask does nothing for your skin. In fact, my skin very a bit dry afterwards.
