I like many of the Algenist skincare products but not this makeup product. For me, this foundation accentuates my fine lines and pores, and does not provide enough coverage after two coats. I do like the serum texture that makes it easy to apply on the face.

I absolutely adore this serum foundation. It applies beautifully on my skin and it has remarkable, long wearing, buildable coverage. One can apply on the sheerer side or add more product and enhance the coverage. The formula itself is watery and one dispenses it drop by drop. But, it applies easily and a small amount goes a long way. The color is very flattering and natural to my coloring, I got the medium shade and it does lean towards a yellow based foundation. I have an oilier t-zone and it holds up totally all day, without moving around or disappearing. It looks so natural on my skin, and almost undetectable. I would absolutely repurchase when I run out, but luckily I was able to get a duo from QVC, and I only use a very small amount of drops per application. The only thing I would change is the dropper applicator to a pump style dispenser. I hope they keep making this foundation.

This is a totally different foundation than I have ever tried. I have fair skin with lots of redness so I have tried tons of foundations. First off the formula is super super thin…almost watery…I kind of like that. It doesn;t feel heavy on your face and the bottle lasts a long time. This does not have full coverage as it does not cover all of my redness which is a bit of a bummer but it also looks more natural. I have this in the shade light/medium and the color is way more yellow than I thought it would be. Because of my redness it works…but it is always a bit off-looking when you first put it on and blend. THe lasting power really gets me since I have oily skin….this stuff stays put! I’ve been using it on and off for a few weeks and plan to continue using it…Worth a try if you are looking for something different.

I have tried this and several other products from this brand and return them all , hate to do it because of the shipping charges
( bought at QVC) but none of them deliver what they promise , my recommendation is to stay away from this brand , I bought all the hype about the algaes etc . It just was not worth it . In this case the coverage is poor and the texture is not good .

I bought this foundation from qvc uk and i have to say it is a beautiful foundation,it blends well, stays on till you take it off, never cracks flakes oxides or seeps into lines and wrinkles,it does everything you would want a foundation do.
i have dry skin with a oily t zone which will shine no matter what foundation i use but a blot after a few hours fixes that. The bottle is glass and quite heavy with a pipette type dispenser which i dont mind but it is heavy to travel with.
This is in my top faves of foundation which currently to date are EX invisiwear-cheap and excellent,SUQQU-expensive so saved for special occsns,Rimmel 24hr cheap and great everday wear, and Loreal infallible matt another good everday super performance foundation, all of these mentioned are longwearing last all day and do not oxide on my skin which is why they are in my top favs,i have loads of others in the “meh” box.
I have thrice bought this Algenist foundation and would not be without it,my shade on nc30 isl light medium.

I have officially found my holy grail and I hate to say that but its true.
I am addicted to the brand now. I have been using their GENIUS moisturizer and Vitamin C+ Serum for 4 months and now the foundation for one month. They all give me a great-skin-day every single time.
The foundation applies effortlessly and evenly with a damp beauty blender. Gives medium to full coverage. Is easily blendable and buildable to as light or as heavy as you like, yet it dries down quickly. Does not enhance fine lines. Does not become greasy. Does not move ALL day – and I work 12 hour shifts in a dirty, noisy, environment ( I am a nurse in an Emergency Room) none of your 8 hour office day tests here! It does not transfer and it still looks great by the end of the day!
After my last 12 hour night shift (staying awake for 24 hours makes no one look good), someone on the morning shift came in and asked if I had just come in! She said I looked amazing!
This foundation is expensive, but no more so than any of the other popular brands these days. But more importantly I feel like it is no nonsense, effective and flattering, made for normal women who have to work and who just want their make up to just damn well stay on for more than 4 hours! Absolutely worth the money for me.
I have never been tempted to buy or wear anything else since I bought this, and that’s saying something..

The Algenist band caught my eye at Ulta because I have always liked brands that incorporate some kind of skincare into their makeup. At this point, I was looking for something to replace my Teint Idole 24h Wear Ultra. I like that foundation because of its thin texture and longevity – it lasts all day on me. Unfortunately, they don’t carry my color in the US (01 Alabaster beige – quite more yellow than the US colors).
There are not a lot of colors of the foundation: 6 in total – from about NW15 to about NC45. As I have very yellow skin, the color Fair didn’t suit me – it was too pink. The next color up is light. This is something between NC25-30, which was a much better match color wise, as it had much more yellow. However, it was a shade too dark for me. After reading some reviews about the foundation (the staff probably was wondering why I was just walking around there for half an hour, buried in my phone 😛 ), I decided to buy it. It was a pretty big bonus that the price was quite good… $38, compared to what I usually pay for foundation ($50-70). It is the regular, 30 mL/1 oz size. I also liked that it had no alcohol and quite a lot of interesting ingredients that are supposed to be good for the skin. There’s quite a lot of silicones in there though, but they have never bothered my skin, as far as I know. This foundation doesn’t *feel* silicon-y though. The foundation was also advertised as long-wearing, which I believed it could be, as there are polymers in this that tends to prolong the longevity of such products. This also applied pretty well on my, without sinking much into small wrinkles.
The foundation has a dropper-type of dispensing mechanism. I must say I’m not a big fan of this, but at least the bottle ismade in such a way that it doesn’t get messe when taking the dropper in and out. It says that one should start with 4 drops of this and built the coverage up as needed. I have used 3-7 drops and the coverage has varied between light-solid medium without being caky. I have tried to apply this foundation with a beauty blender and using fingers. Obviously, such thin products just soak into a beauty blender, but fingers work well. The foundation doesn’t emphasize any texture issues on my skin, but it also doesn’t have much blurring action (I don’t need it either though). It is quite moisturizing, but satin in finish. It does oxidize about a shade, but this happens very quickly after application, so you will see quite fast how dark it will get. if you compare it to the color charts above, the color is actually like on the girl wearing Light Medium. I have sensitive skin, and this doesn’t bother it the least, and it really does wear all day. I set this with powder, as I do with all of my foundations, but I believe this isn’t strictly necessary – if you have drier skin or doesn’t use a moisturizer, I think you could skip powder.
Now, to one of my favorite parts: Algenist has something called Concentrated Color Correcting Drops. They come in 4 colors: pink, apricot, green and blue. They are advertised as something that can be used UNDER foundation to correct skin tone before applying the Algenist foundation. However, I tried to mix these with some of the foundation… and it works well this way to! This means that you can change the color of your foundation with those! 😀 As green neutralizes orange tones, I tried to add some of the green corrector to my foundation, and it worked well 🙂 Thus, the colors of this foundation can be modified using the correctors. This might thin the foundation out just a tiny little bit, but it is quite good news IMO. I’m definitely going to buy more of the foundation and the corrector, which might work on other foundations too!
I would recommend this to those looking for good ingredients in a foundation, who look for light-medium coverage, preferrably dry-normal skin

This foundation is the most amazing foundation I have ever tried. My skin is oily, acne prone, with large pores and acne scarring. Basically a dermatologist’s nightmare. My skin is a source of insecurity for me.
Holy grail product! It lives up to the texture, it truly does apply like a serum, light but with fantastic coverage. Also it’s suprisingly buildable. The color matches are a little awful. I’m an NC 20 and the shade light is slightly too dark, but will work with some blending. I just ordered fair and hoping that will be light enough.
My skin looks almost airbrushed after application. It feels light on my skin (which is amazing because I typically suffer from dreaded cake face). This stays on for 5+ hour shifts at work with very little oil breakthrough.
It doesn’t cover my scars perfectly but the texture and look makes them look diminished and much less noticeable. I am truly blown away by this product.
The only downside other than the limited shade selection is the actual packaging. It comes with a dropped applicator as opposed to a pump. This doesn’t bother me that much as it makes it easy to control product amounts but it is a pain to travel with.
Everything breaks me out or bothers my skin and this is a miracle product because my face is not irritated or broken out after wearing this for hours.
