   I was very excited to see this product in ULTA because I can’t use 99% of foundations because of the silicone ingredient. Juice Beauty had no silicone in their foundation which is a rare find in a liquid foundation. I immediately snatched it up in the lightest shade. The shade selection is minimal in that there are only three shades. The ivory shade I picked up is a good shade for neutral or cool toned girls. For reference I’m MAC NW25. So this product is certified organic and includes lots of different plant oils and such. I had read somewhere that if you’re not used to these ingredients, you may break out. And they were right. But I won’t skip ahead. The application is fine, nothing special but leaves a very sticky finish. I would say it dries to a not too matte not too dewy finish. I would say this foundation is good for normal to normal to dry skin. The application and finish didn’t bother me so much as the four huge zits along my jawline after two times wearing it. Ugh, I was so disappointed. And $35 is a big price to pay for four big bumps underneath my skin that took forever to go away. So I returned it to ULTA and will be more careful to assume that I won’t break out just because the foundation doesn’t have silicone in it. For those that don’t have weird sensitivities, it would be a decent foundation, medium coverage, not too heavy feeling. But the downside would be the lack of shade selection. If you’re really fair or fair with warm tones, there will be nothing for you here. If you are medium or light-medium with cool undertones, there is nothing for you because their medium is very yellow-toned and rather dark for a medium. I can’t speak for the darkest shade because there was no reason for me to try that one. And one last con, it doesn’t buff in that easily, once its on there you have to work quick! I found that stippling worked the best.

   All in all, there are much better foundations out there.

   I was very skeptical about this product. There was barely any reviews on this product so I took a leap of faith and ordered it online. I live in Canada and was able to find this quite easily on website that offered a guarantee with their products for 30 days so I was convinced about purchasing it because even if it was terrible I could get a refund. I ordered the colour sand and on the website it doesn’t look overly dark. My skin is not pale or fair but it is light with a yellowy tinge to it. When I got the foundation I was horrified about how dark it was. There was no way I was that shade. The first time I tried it I was discouraged, I had just done a chemical peel and my skin was peely so my dry spots really stuck out. It looked too dark for my skin and I was pretty sure I would return it. After my dry skin went away I decided to try again. I used my home made primer, used my Ecco Bella concealer on all my scars and then put a squirt on the back of my hand and used some mineral mist to spread it around on the back of my hand then dab it on with my fingers. This stuff dries fast (probably because it is so natural) and you have to separate it into sections. I do my one cheek and eye, next cheek and eye, chin, forehead, nose. I was amazed at how good my skin looked. Keep in mind my skin is dry combo, sensitive, cystic acne prone. I have a lot of acne scars as well. I was able to work with it to make it less dark on me. It is very concentrated so using a full pump the first time was a mistake. I only use a 1/4 of a pump…very tiny amount and it works perfect when spread with a little water or mineral mist. I am amazed I have usually had to use tons of foundation to cover my scars.I also finished with a powder so it did match my skin tone well, I looked a little sun kissed but nothing noticeable other than by myself. Also, this stuff lasts! It was still on very good after 12 hours. Could have used a bit of touch up of powder but that is it! I will definitively repurchase. It is all organic and natural, it is around $40 which I consider cheap for a foundation of this caliber, and it works! It has improved the way my skin looks and provides very good coverage. It is build-able so for those who like to cake on the foundation it works and for those who barely used any it will also work. My complaints are of course the colours, there are only 3. The first shade would have been way too pale, sand was a bit dark, and tan is super dark. If I was able to afford the first shade and sand it would have been perfect for me. I really hope they add 2 or 3 other shades so more people are able to use this product. I also would have liked to see it in a glass jar.

   In short, I really liked this product. It is the only foundation to date that has not caused severe instant breakouts to my skin. Instantly, my acne-and-broken-capillary-riddled face looked really smooth and clear. My face didn’t get the feeling that it had been wrapped in saran wrap – aka blocked from oxygen by ingredients which sealed off my pores. For this reason, it didn’t give me irritation bumps. Also, there are no chemical ingredients that I’m allergic to in it. My face stayed very smooth-looking for hours, and the color seemed to wear well. I got the medium (sand) color, purposefully a tad dark for my NC 20 skin, because I look like a corpse if I match my neckline color. The color match for Sand is probably NC 25-35, but it ended up blending well for me and giving me a slight warm glow. At first it went on an alarming shade of orange, but after a few minutes it seemed to settle in and was a really nice, believable color. The undertones are neutral-warm; probably a yellow/orange base. I would say this is light to medium coverage, but had a really smooth finish. This gave my skin an (unexpected) slightly airbrushed look. Very nice.

   While this foundation is not perfect, this is a HUGE breakthrough product for me, which is why it’s getting a 5. As someone with CRAZY sensitive/rosacea/acne/aging skin, I literally have not found a foundation that doesn’t break me out terribly (either with acne or allergy bumps). I have tried every sensitive/combo-skin foundation available from every major brand & “organic” company – lancome, sheseido, clinique, shu uemura, estee lauder, merle norman, biotherm, vichy, dr. brandt, skinceuticles, whats-his-name roth, dr. haushka, eco….etc etc….and YES, even Bare Escentuals breaks me out. I’m not sure when BE became the go-to cliche answer to all skin problems (everyone asks me, “But have you tried BE?” as if it’s the holy grail of sensitive problem skin), but mica and bismuth oxycholoride (two of BE’s main ingredients) can be extremely irritating to the skin. I guess marketing has done it’s job.

   That being said, the CONS of this product are:
   1. The price…a little high for what I wanted to pay, although not terrible compared to most department store brands.
   2. The pump is a great idea, but dumps a lot out at a time (so you get wasted product). Needs more graduated movement.
   3. Color selection is terrible. Three shades only.
   4. Consistency is a bit runny, but not any more so than other natural products (I’m used to it). If you’re used to more mainstream, chemically-engineered-for-perfect-consistency products, you’re in for an adjustment.

   The PROS:
   1. Organic. Doesn’t contain chemical/synthetic ingredients which irritate my skin
   2. Fragrance free
   3. Medium coverage
   4. Smooth, airbrush finish
   5. Didn’t immediately break me out (with acne or allergy bumps)! That’s a first.

   NOTE: this product contains many plant-derived extracts and organic oils – if you have botanical allergies, you should check out the ingredients label carefully. Also, my suspicion is that if your skin is used to synthetic base products, it may not react well immediately to this. I use Dr. Hauschka skin care, which is organic/botanical-oil-based, so this makeup was complimentary to my regimen. Your skin may be confused or react if you are mixing chemical/synthetic skin care & organic/botanical-oil-based makeup. Or vice-versa.
