If you’re anything like me, you’ve never heard of this person or this brand. Issac Mizrahi is a fashion designer and recently started delving into the world of cosmetics/skincare. I got this lipstick in a gift set from QVC for Christmas. I’ve only been using it for a few days but lip products are one of those things I don’t think needs to be used up entirely before being able to write a well thought out review.
First off, this lip crayon smells like straight up chocolate. It’s nice to smell a choco-scented lip product rather than vanilla, which is what many companies go with. While I did get this as a gift, online I’m seeing these lip crayons going for $18 each. I do love this product, but not enough to repurchase and the price is the only factor in that. If this thing was $10 or less I’d buy it for myself once I ran out, but I digress. As a gift, it’s much appreciated. But back to the review.
I got mine in the shade “Liz.” It is the PERFECT sheer red. It’s not a sheer bright red but rather a sheer, muted red. When I first applied it, I was shocked by how it felt. The application is so smooth… almost too smooth. When I looked this up online to get more info I found out that it’s a gel formula, which makes sense. I’ve never had a gel based lip product before and I love it. I’ve never owned a lip crayon before either but found this to be very easy to apply. The finish is semi-matte. I wouldn’t describe the formula as particularly moisturizing. It contains essential oils and shea butter but I applied it this morning without using a lip balm underneath and my lips do feel sort of dry. Using a lip balm underneath makes it a little more comfortable for me. Staying power is good. I apply around 7 AM and only need to touch up around 1:30 after eating lunch.
Also, this line is cruelty-free which is a huge plus for me.
