Little pricey for what it was.
I love mood lipgloss and lipsticks – I had toofaced’s mood lip glosses about 8 or so years ago and they were sticky but fun.
I have Angel Tears and Unicorn Tears lipstick and they both perform the same: blotchy and uneven. Even when I pre-moisturise my lips, it goes on very uneven: heavy blobs of colour then streaks of sheer undercoat.
I was miffed at how much I spent on it to get such a poor performance.
I gave the Unicorn one away, and kept the angel one out of buyer’s remorse.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews where people complain of blotchy coverage, yet others don’t seem to have the issue.
Be wary – you won’t know which way it falls on you till you wear it.

Ok. So. I went to Ulta to purchase the Too Faced Life’s a Festival eyeshadow palette (freakin’ awesome) and I got a little splurge happy, and purchased this.
The packaging and container are awesome. I wish they had amped up the tube a little more, but it’s very classy looking as all Too Faced lipstick tubes are.
The Mystical Effects line (Mermaid, Fairy, Unicorn, and I can’t remember, Tears) are all duo-chrome, dual-shift, sheer with underlying lip-stain that takes a few moments to take effect.
Unicorn Tears starts as a light blue iridescent that quickly gains a gorgeous underlying dark pink stain. It’s supposed to be used over long lasting liquid matte lipstick to give it a 3d quality. I use it over Covergirl 24hr long lasting matte liquid lipstick, or Maybelline 24 hour super last in reds & pinks, after I let the matte lipstick dry, I dot on lightly, then coat with the included Covergirl or Maybelline gloss.
I did find it a little drying. Impossible to wear alone & heavy, without looking like an alien, and will gather in creases if worn by itself. Takes time to get used to, but certainly is a showstopper when you learn to use it right. Just like their highlighter, less is more, even less is just enough.
It’s freaking IMPOSSIBLE to swatch the color shift!
Only said I wouldn’t purchase again, because I want the Fairy Tears color, vs the Unicorn. ????????????
