I grabbed this in #33, as it was on sale and I love red lip colors. The quality is decent, but the SMELL IS AWFUL. It smells so strongly of chemicals that I can’t stand to use it.
The pigmentation is great – it slides on with full color, and that’s awesome. It also feels very comfortable. But I just can’t get over that smell. If you can handle that, you might like this lip gloss. I, personally, am just going to throw it out.

i bought laque 02 in barcelona, spain recently and am in love. Gorgeous color, scent and packaging. Another holy grail by Sephora.<3

Lip Laquer #4.
This is a coppery/bronze color. Very metallic.
Very smooth, needs only a little to fill entire lip area, feels very light, I forgot several times I even had it on.
The color’s bold, but not overwhelming. Could easily be toned down or to make a statement.

Picked up natural 3 on sale. Previous reviews are right – it’s a lot more opaque and paler than expected. But for only $5, not a bad product. Good staying power. I use a bolder lipcolor and then go over it with a bit of this and clear gloss to tone it down.
I think they discontinued this product anyway.

I thought this would be sheer, since most gloss pens are, but this is thick and opaque. Naturel looks beige-white and washes me out. I have to mix it with clear gloss to make it look half-way decent.

From what I understand, this is comparable to the Stila lip glazes at a fraction of the cost. I have this in #5 and it looks wonderful. Has a slight shimmer to it which I love, and looks very natural. The brush applicator is neat, would definitely repurchase.

This is a much darker product than I anticipated! I thought it would apply as a sheer gloss, but it is more like a liquid lipstick. I have 16, a very peppy red. I found if I blot it and mix w/ some clear lip balm it helps tone the shade down to a more wearable color for day. The endurance is excellent, this takes quite some time to fade. Would repurchase in a more neutral shade!

It hurts my heart but I didn’t like this. I got the color 01, which turned out to be frosty, which is the reason I didn’t like it on me, so it’s a shade issue and not a product issue for me. It is highly, highly pigmented with just a little amount, so this will go a long way. The brush is workable in my opinion, it smells like caramel heaven, and Japonesque has one of the prettiest packaging on the market. I’m willing to try other shades but have to find out if those frosty, too.
Pro:
– pigmented
– amazing smell
– goes a long way
– most beautiful packaging
Con:
– frosty shade
– highend pricetag

These come in such beautiful colors but they are incredibly finicky to apply. Despite how they’re listed here on MakeupAlley, these aren’t actually lip gloss- they’re more like pigments. Unfortunately that doesn’t give you a lot of room for error, and they take a while to set up and dry. Until they dry you are at high risk for smudging, and because they’re so pigmented, there’s a good chance that if you’re not careful you’ll end up looking like the Joker.
Also, the lip brush included is very prickly and kind of uncomfortable to use. Overall I probably wouldn’t repurchase.

This was a big disappointment. I chose a vibrant shade (#6) of what I thought was lip gloss, but it turns out to be something else. I was surprised that the applicator was a brush rather than a sponge, so it went on a little messy at first. But I can work with that. Then the color, which was already bright in the tube, turned out much brighter on the lips. I figured I could work with that too. But what I can’t work with is that fact that it goes on glossy but dries up very fast, leaving you with dry, stained lips with the color bleeding out onto the skin around your mouth. This one is going back. (BTW, Laura Geller’s Berry Crush is a good color dupe for Japonesque #6, but in a good formula.)

This is another one of those products I tried so hard to love, but just couldn’t. Although I do love the packaging, the actual product was pretty disappointing. It was so, so sticky. I have nightmares about wearing this on the beach and getting a gust of sand to the face. The texture of it makes it very difficult to put on with a lip brush too, although once it’s on it does get slightly less sticky (but still *very* sticky). The smell is fowl, to me it smells of a mix of medicine and paint 🙁 such a shame, but I definitely wouldn’t repurchase.

I own the dark pink the (fuschia) one, it’s awesome, i use a akeup brush to put it on, because I don’t want to getmy finger’s all greassy and messy. I gives me this mysterious city (urban look) i baught it from sephora and most sephora items do rock

This was way too gloopy and sticky for me…very very uncomfortable. Worst thing is it comes in a pot and you have to apply it with your fingers so not only do your lips get sticky, so do your fingers. Unless of course you can be bothered using a lip brush.
I bought it at Sephora when I was travelling in NYC and then a few years later when I mentioned it to an MUA at Mecca they said that this lip lacquer is used in photoshoots as it just doesn’t budge. Not really for every day use or if you want to drink, or kiss someone. 😛

i didn’t like this lip lacquer at all, and i’m surprised to see so many good reviews! the product was extremely thick, heavy, and sticky, so i could feel it sitting on my lips like glue. when i smacked my my lips to distribute it, my lips were stuck together! i also didn’t like the colors i got (chelsea girls, sweet charity) because they looked waaayyy too light, like an alien’s lips.
i reallllyy wanted to like this product because i am very pleased with the pure matte lipstick.

I love the colors of this gloss. I have Butterfield 8, which is discontinued — it is a chocolate brown shade. I also love Sweet Charity and Chelsea Girls, which are very pretty.
The only drawbacks are 1. The smell…which I found to be a little off-putting and medicinal (I do not mind the lack of fragrance / waxy smell of NARS lipsticks and glosses — this is different), and 2. It was sticky and difficult to apply and blend with my fingers – I definitely recommend using a brush. If this came in wand form, I would like it more.

i love this product! i bought it in capucine and it gives a light wash of peach on my lips. it look like a very bright orange in the jar but comes out really natural. i’ve tried dozens and dozens of lip products and this comes out one of the top. the smell is unpleasant but fades quickly in my opinion, so no big deal. some would find it sticky but that suits me because i find that non-sticky products ‘spread’ and i end up with white gunk inside my lips, if u know what i mean.

My HG blush, I wear it everyday. I’ve had this blush for probably two years, and it’s still not finished! Highly recommend it for a fool proof blush that gives you an instant lift. I always get compliments on on my ‘glow’ and I think it’s because of this blush. Love it! Buy it!

The worst ever lip product. Application: need to glide off 99% of the liquid/ product off the sponge applicator before applying it on the lip .
Feel/ texture: heavy, tacky , sticky. Like something jamming on the lips. The degree of tacky/ sticky is close to T leclerc, heavier than juicy tube/ MAC.
Finish: glossy, shiny, highly pigmented. like cover girl outlast finishing but cover girl is a lot less heavy but ten times drier than Estée lauder.
Leave an even stain on the lips after eating.
Would have continued
to use it if not for the heavy/ sticky feel.

Tried 3 colours. Bought them at once. Bad choice.
Everything seems to be going just perfect;
Packaging is cute, smell is nice and the texture is amazing. And there you go, happy as a hippo until 10 minutes has past and you realize that its gliding around on your lips, swimming away in lines that werent even there before applying the gloss!
This is my story. The end.

Gee, I love these. No weird taste. Fuchia Shine was my HG summer gloss. A lovely purple pink that did not make me look like I had the lips of death. I pulled out Cranberry Glass today. It is a perfect pink red on me. Wonder if they still make these glosses at all! I like this formula better than the greasy one that goes bad quickly they have out now! 🙁
artisticPretzels7
I have this in Candy Glaze and love the pink/mauve color and the major shine. I like the SPF 15 and how long it stays on my lips. My only gripe is that my hair is constantly getting stuck in it, so it’s not good for windy days.
gleefulHoopoe6
I have this in Fuschia Shine, which isn’t fushcia at all, but a pretty, subtle lavender. What I do like about it – The colour is beautiful and the shine is pretty. What I don’t like about it – The texture is uneven, and it takes a few applications to dispense enough to make the texture even, and it seems to bring out any flakes on my lips, so I have to take it off, exfoliate my lips well, and reapply, seemingly every time. It is a nice gloss, but I doubt I’ll repurchase, because there are many I’d prefer over this.

I love this HighShine Lip Lacquer! I have used up a double-ended gwp wand of the Candy Glaze and 21 Top Coat. This stuff is super shiny and has a nice feel on the lips. I would get a lot of compliments on the Candy Glaze! The clear top coat is nice to wear alone also as a gloss because it has an SPF. Your lips are really shiny with this, I compare the quality to MAC clear lipglass. Enjoy 🙂

This gloss was just too strange for me. I bought it in pink sorbet, a bubblegum bright pink. If I apply it just off the wand, I end up with uneven spots of really bright pink all over my lips. I’ve found I need to brush almost all the gloss off the wand before blending and blotting all over my lips. I’ve also found it works better over a pink lipstick to make the lipstick look glossy rather than on its own. The pigment is just too strange, plus the gloss has no wear time.

SELECTED SHADES: bubble gum pink (bright blue pink), lively hot pink (fuchsia), naked nude (beige nude)
PROS
– pigmented
– creamy
– not sticky
– not drying
CONS
– hard to find in stores
COMMENTS: These are lovely. They’re very pigmented liquid lipsticks that have a creamy texture and aren’t drying at all. I got mine from my local beauty supply store for $3.99. You can also purchase these online.
Will repurchase.

I use in Clear as a dupe to Lipsense Glossy Gloss throughout the day to keep my color sealed and lips moisturized = will certainly re-purchas!

I got this in natural 3.. and it doesn’t look natural. It’s more like white/champagney frosting. It has a sweet smell. I think the product is just okay. I wouldn’t repurchase.

I bought this in #6 – says rouge brun on it (or brun rouge – can’t they give these things normal names?) I LOVE it. It was an impulse buy – for $5. Great color for me (brown hair with blonde highlights, brown eyes, medium to pale winter skin). This color makes my teeth look VERY white too. Wears off kinda fast (all over my coffee cup) but I wasn’t looking for staying power. Not as drying as a lipstick, so I love it. Will definetly repurcahse!
puzzledLemur6
I thought these were going to be sheer like Stila’s lip glazes, which have similar packaging, but they were very opaque. I bought 16, which is a bright true red and 7, which is a deep red along the lines of Urban Decay’s Gash Lip Gunk. They went on very creamy instead of slick (I prefer slick). Very gloppy and difficult to keep inside my lip line… I’d categorize this as a liquid lipstick rather than a gloss. These colors just did not work with my PPP skin. Someone with darker skin might have better luck.
insecurePlover6
What a disappointment. Firstly, very heavy and not moisturizing at all. Secondly, the color is gone shortly just leaving sticky lips afterwards. Thumbs down!
dopeyChile2
I love all Nars lip laquers. Staying power is awesome. Colors are awesome. My favorite is “Chelsea Girls” (the PERFECT opaque, light pinky-beigey-nude). It was the first Nars product I purchased 8 years ago, and what turned me into a Nars whore!

I recieved this in a swap. The color is Capucine. I kind of like it. It’s more glossy than lipstick, but thicker than lip gloss (thus stays longer than lip gloss). Capucine is a little bit too red on me, but it works out perfectly if I top it with a nude lip gloss. Actually, it tingles a tiny little bit. So, I think it also plumps the lips. I only give four lippies because it comes in a jar and it’s a little bit inconvenient for touching up.
