Notes from fragrantica: banana, pear, bergamot, cardamom and pink pepper; middle notes are champaca, orange blossom, plum and milk; base notes are sandalwood, amber, musk and vanilla
This is beautiful, but if you’re looking for a foody banana-dominant perfume, this might not be what you have in mind. Most people see banana and think “going to smell like pudding or laffy taffys” (and yes, those fragrances exist). But this is more fresh, slightly green banana with the peel. The blend of champaca, banana, milk and cardamom is simply delicious. This perfume is literally like nothing else I own. Slightly fruity, very creamy, warm, spicy, heady but not heavy. Perfectly unisex and great for all ages. Moderate sillage and longevity, but it’s very affordable so I feel ok spraying with abandon. A warm base of amber, sandalwood, and plum complete the fragrance–I might need a backup bottle in my collection, it’s so beautiful.

Normally I’m not a fan of florals, but I do enjoy this unusual one by Patou. Champaca is the main impression I get: a big narcotic floral with a unique salty note. Crisp pear and a suggestion of sweet, cooked banana balance it out and the whole thing rests on a creamy, milky sandalwood/vanilla base. I was expecting something more gourmand, but Sira des Indes is definitely a floral: huge and hypnotic. As it settles the sandalwood becomes more apparent and SdI starts to remind me vaguely of Samsara in that rich floral, lush sandalwood kind of way. While I enjoy wearing this eccentric beauty, I’m not really sure it’s for me and probably won’t repurchase.

I wanted to love this so badly. The notes sounds amazing and India evokes amazing perfume pictures to my imagination.
On spritzing it smells fruity sweet and boring. I only made out the barest hint of bananas. After a few minutes the white flowers came to the fore. I love ylang ylang and jasmine and I could definitely detect them here, but only for about half an hour until the boring fruity sweetness came back.
I won’t miss this one when I am gone but in the meantime I will wear it as background noise to the office.

This is a really fun summer fragrance, but by no means a teenybopper fruit cocktail. I wear it on hot summer days, and it really blooms in the heat. Yet it remains fairly close to the skin, so it won’t annoy anyone nearby. The fruity opening is tempered by some spice, then there are florals, then a floral/musky drydown which lasts about 24 hours. Can be found at bargain prices. Don’t fear the banana, it’s a green note, and very light.

I can see why some would call this a gourmand, but it’s a pretty light gourmand–sort of the summer salad plate version of a gourmand, if that makes sense! To my nose it’s a spicy floral that is perfect for a summer day–there’s cardamon up top, which gives it the spice. Basenotes says there’s also banana leaf in the top notes, but since I haven’t a clue what banana leaf smells like, I’ll just have to take their word for it! Floral in the mid notes and vanilla, amber, musk and sandalwood in the base–but all in light-ish versions so that it’s not that wrap-yourself-in-a-heavy-sweater vanilla-amber-musk base, but more a wrap-that-cashmere-pashmina-around-your-shoulders-as-the-summer-sun-goes-down kind of scent. Very nice, and cheap as it shows up on discount shelves pretty regularly.

To me Sira des Indes is a passionate affair evocative of Gauguin paintings with the most unexpected colours, warm skin, curves and unruly hair. It is also a great lesson for me as it contains everything I avoid from indolic white flowers to slightly feccal notes. Nevertheless, it is so beautiful. The banana in the top notes is neither super fresh nor over ripe but is so natural, lush and inviting. The floral notes are soft and gourmand notes are not cloying at all. It is great during summer sunsets and cold but bright winter days.

You can find this rather fun take on an oriental for dirt cheap. It’s not a masterpiece but it’s fun, not too girly and not too serious. Just right and I don’t know why I don’t wear it more often. Heard it might get discontinued though :/

Sira isn’t a WOW fragrance, but it’s a very pleasant one if you can ignore your preconceptions and come to it without gourmand expectations. It isn’t a rich, sweet, amber/vanilla-y fragrance dripping brown sugar covered bananas. I wouldn’t even call it a gourmand fragrance.
Sira is a floral/spice fragrance, small sweetness, dry spice, lightly vanillic and wood base. It opens with aromatic floral waft — frangipane, ylang-ylang. There’s some sweetness and an odd aromatic top note that can smell a little like airplane glue and a little like bananas, depending on which you parse for. The banana is NOT a creamy rich one, it’s the top aromatic brush of banana you smell as you peel them. There’s a light waft of spice — cardomom plus the internal “spice” feel of ylang-ylang — that deepens as perfume dries down. In the early part of drydown there’s also a dry, light wood note, sandalwood to my nose. As Sira continues to dry down it finishes in a cardamom, dry, slightly spiced floral, with an underlying light sweetness. Overall the fragrance has very light sillage and is a good summer “spice” fragrance when you’re too hot for anything rich and gourmand.
I would like to qualify by saying I’m reviewing edp, not the parfum. There may be a much deeper, more gourmand feel to parfum since that concentration highlights basenotes.

Tastefully done; a floriential frag with a modern twist due to the banana accord. Lush and drop dead sexy. If you’re not a fan of white flowers, you won’t like this.

This is intense; be careful on how much you apply. When I first tried this, it seemed like altogether too much fruit. However, I am trying it again, years later, and I’m picking up much more of the nonfood notes. However, it should be said that as soon as I popped that vial, my dog came over and wanted to eat the vial, lick my arm, etc. When I wouldn’t let her eat the vial, she started crying and begging for it. LOL! Notes: magnolia champaca, banana accord, bergamot, pear, red berries, cardamom, musk, amber, vanilla and sandalwood. There’s a foody richness to this I really like. EDITED: I finally obtained this in 2016, and it is a pale, worthless version of its former self.
