I am particularly keen of perfumes that aim to focus on a particular flower or fruit, like this scent has with rose, (also one of my favourite flower scents). I am not so keen on raspberry normally but it works well in this scent. Very classy, yet beautifully soft and sensual as well. The perfume itself could have slightly better sillage, but it’s definitely a keeper either way.

Got this with a free gift I love it it’s the only perfume I can wear my husband and I have allergies this is a great scent I love it

I requested a sample of this scent after loving it at the makeup counter. It’s very feminine, strong but sweet, and seemed to have a great staying power on the sample strip. Yes, I know smelling a perfume on a strip of paper is not a good indicator of how a scent wears on your body, and it certainly didn’t wear well on me!
If you are sensitive to “heavier” scents, this might not be for you. After a few minutes, this scent smelled very heavy, chemically, and gave me a headache. I sprayed some onto my sweater, and it was horrendous! I love this in the bottle and on others, but this is definitely not for me or those who are sensitive to smells.

I don’t have anything bad to say about this fragrance, but I don’t have anything great to say about it, either. I like it a little better than the original Modern Muse (which is so utterly generically “fresh” that I imagine it as fabric softener). Le Rouge adds some deeper rose notes, sweetness from blackcurrant and vanilla, and your standard woodsy Oriental base. It dries down to a perfectly pleasant berry-vanilla thing, maybe a high-end version of a Bath & Body Works lotion. It smells “nice,” but staggeringly common. I have absolutely no desire to sniff the other two flankers (Chic and Le Rouge Gloss) because I already know they will be safe and predictable. Yawn.
Apparently the MM bottles are supposed to be a “modern” take on the Youth-Dew bottle, with the glitzy gold bow replaced by a streamlined plastic one– and the juice inside sanitized of anything that could offend anyone. I think I’ll stick with Youth-Dew.

This is amazing!! I got a small bottle in my EL GWP. It smells so luxe kind of fruity floral but mature with a strong raspberry note accord. It smells very feminine & im not sure I would buy this because I don’t love it enough to spend $75 or something on a bottle. I prefer (from the house of Lauder) Bronze Goddess & Youth Dew. White linen in the body cream is amazing thou! This isn’t fruity like a youthful exuberance such as juicy couture or Victoria’s Secret or bath&bodyworks. Classy, classic, timeless, lovely. <3

When I first bought this, I really loved the smell. To me, it has a very cool vintage yet modern appeal about it imo; both the bottle and the scent. Modern yet vintage, slightly sexy but not overtly sexy, sophisticated but still approachable, if that makes sense. Can be a little heavy, so one spray I think is enough, two sprays max, will more than get you through the day.
I have read some reviewers describe this as heavy on the rose scent, and I do not pick up on a heavy rose scent, which surprises me, because usually I typically do not like heavy rose scents. However, I can barely detect a rose scent in the background, but it mixes with other scents to put off a complimentary tone/scent, not overly floral. This to me is sophisticated and that has the ability to make you feel confident.I think this is a pretty bold perfume, not for shy types.
The notes from the Lauder site say:
BULGARIAN ROSE
ROSE CENTIFOLIA FIRABS
RASPBERRY
BOURGEON DE CASSIS
PINK PEPPER
SAFFRON
VANILLA MADAGASCAR SFE
PATCHOULI
VETIVER
JASMINE PAYS FIRABS
MAGNOLIA
Again, I am shocked that rose is listed as the two top main accords, as I am not a fan of rose-scents, and yet I do love this and to me it is not the traditional rose scent, or at least it is mixed well with the other notes to compliment the notes nicely. One thing I did notice, is that this seemed to change scent after owning this for about 3 months. I bought this when it first came out, from Ulta, hot off the presses, so to speak, so chances of it being bad or fake are slim to none… But it is disappointing that it changed scent after owning a mere 2 or 3 months. I store my fragrances in a dark cool bedroom closet, in their boxes.
At any rate, to me this is a fairly unique perfume, and a little ‘different,’ that I appreciate it in a world where it seems so many scents are too girly or overly sweet. To me this is definitely more of a “grown up” perfume.
I almost gave this a full five stars, however, I had to take a lippie off because of the price: Hear me out on this. I feel this is a hefty price tag for a Lauder perfume. I bought the 3.4 oz. size and it was $120.00USD from Ulta. I feel like that is steep for a Lauder fragrance. So while I enjoy this well enough, and yes it does last all day for me, I feel it is pricey, this is getting up there with the high end perfumes, and I just don’t see how Lauder can justify the cost. This also would have been a re-purchase, but again, because of the cost, I will just enjoy the fragrance this time. There are other scents out there that I like just as well, and at similar price points or even not the hefty price tag. This is even more than two of my all-time favorite perfumes, Coach and Michael Kors. And to me this perfume just does not merit the hefty price tag. I hate bringing up price points, but when it factors into whether or not I would re-purchase… I feel the need to point it out. So I still kind of like this perfume, but won’t re-purchase simply because of what I feel is an overpriced price point and also due to the quickly changing scent after owning it for a few short months. Plus there are other fragrances out there that I would rather have or try as opposed to repurchasing this. I liked this very well when brand-new, but imo a fragrance of this price point should not ‘change’ within a few short months, and seemingly so drastically.

This was my go to this past winter.
To me it is an ulta feminine scent– it smells pretty makeup-ey to me– the rose, powdery notes.
On me it is quite powdery. The powder is pretty overwhelming at first spray but dies down fast. There is an initial sharp blast of berries that fades much too fast :/. Then it goes pretty immediately into a heady rose scent.
It stays there for awhile just rose and powder– very feminine and makes me think of makeup. (I don’t personally get a similarity between this and Si. To my nose this smells pretty similar to Valentino Donna. I prefer Donna).
Patchouli arrives in the drydown with a bit of musk. The powder and rose is still there as well, which keeps it from being overwhelming or dirty smelling.
To me this is a heavy hitter. I spray about half as much as I would normally. And I’m careful not to get this on my clothing bc it can easily turn cloying.
That being said this lasts ALL DAY and becomes a beautiful skin scent in small doses so I do use this for daily wear.
This doesn’t seem to get compliments on its own, which made me think it was either bad smelling or underectable. I asked my mom, DH and a friend their thoughts when I was wearing it (knowing these 3 wouldnt lie); and they all 3 had a response like ‘oh yeah. You do smell good’– like in an afterthought sort of way. Which confirms my suspicions that this dries down into just a pretty and feminine skin scent.
I like this a lot, and will continue to use this– but probably just in colder weather. It is one of my top 3 most used currently and in 2015

I tested Modern Muse Le Rouge for the first time today and really liked it. It could easily be a unisex fragrance…..or even a flat out masculine scent. It isnt to floral and it isnt to fruity. The floral, rose note, comes out a little but not too much. The longer the scent stays on your skin the more floral and rosey it gets. I love berry notes in fragrances and the raspberry note is kind of flat but is nice. It’s not tooty fruity…..it’s more like a real raspberry. The vetiver, i think, is what keeps this fragrance on the unisex, masculine side. Definitely full bottle worthy.

A wonderful mix of vintage and modern. The EL website claims the feeling for this perfume is “EXTROVERTED. GLAMOROUS.. SOPHISTICATED.” And I completely agree with that summary of this frag. I adore the art deco inspired bottle as well.
At first, the Bulgarian Rose is dominant, along with a tartness from the raspberry. It’s sweet but not sugary sweet on my skin. Then it morphs into a slightly peppery/patchouli/floral mix. I sense a bit of powder and jasmine, but it’s warm and inviting, not harsh and musty. After a few hours, on my skin this settles into a soft rose/fruit scent that I would enjoy for spring or summer. I refer stronger “bigger” scents for winter. “Knowing” by Estee Lauder is an example of a rose-based scent that I wear during the colder months.
Dare I say that there is a slight sharpness/tanginess to this frag that, at least on my skin, is not harsh by any means, but it keeps the scent from getting too fruity and juvenile. Too “grandma’s rose”. Sexy but not sultry or mysterious/exotic like vintage Opium. Fruity and young but not like Victoria’s Secret or BBW bodycare.
When I wear a scent, I like to picture the type of woman who would wear it.
For some reason, the first things that popped into my mind was a that woman who wears this is outgoing and not afraid to noticed for her sex appeal, but maintain a sense of vintage glamour about her, perhaps in the form of suggestive restraint? A bold red, tight, curve-hugging dress with matching red pumps and lips. 100% sexy but she shows no cleavage or very little, because it would ruin the air of sophistication about her. Maybe a female entrepreneur who refused to be stuffed into standard corporate wear?
.The other image that came to mind is a woman who is dressed as living pop art- black and white with 1 or 2 bold color accents. Always fun, energized and unique jewelry, not basic pearls and diamond solitaire type gal. She can rock patent leather shoes or a biker jacket, she can mix and match prints and accessories that are crisp and bold, and it never looks bad on her. Maybe a pixie or asymmetrical hairstyle in a platinum blonde or raven black? No matter her age, she has a youthful spark about her that conveys youth as fun energy as opposed to innocence or softness. Her sex appeal comes from her lively, spunky character.
I deducted 1 lippie for staying power, as it needed a midday touch up. I will repurchase, this is a lovely scent and I know I will enjoy it more during the spring and summer months. HTH!
