I had such high expectations for this deo given it’s popularity. I only had one issue with it that was an unfortunate deal breaker and has left me in a bad spot. After using this deo for several months, it started to darken my underarms. I’ve used natural deo options for years now and never experienced this. Prior to switching to natural deo in 2006, I had used a lightening deo that worked wonderfully and knocked out all my hyperpigementation issues in that area. Now I’m back at square one and anyone that has ever had this problem, knows how outright frustrating it is to have to correct. Tossing it.

On my quest to find an all natural deodarant without all of the nasties i had read up on PPP and reading mostly positive reviews decided why the heck not? I bought the jar in the jasmine scent. It smelled nice and since it was my first time trying a deodarant in a jar I was definitely curious to see how it would do. It started on a good note but ended on kind of a not so good one for me as with the most that i have tried sadly:/ First thing i noticed.. living in a colder climate when i first got it, it was difficult to emulsify since it was so solid. I decided to try it out when the weather got much warmer and found that it was easier to do so since the product came out way smoother makig it much easier to apply. I liked how it just melted into my skin leaving a hint of the scent that wasn’t too overpowering but just right. I also noticed that despite following the pea sized amount directions it didnt last through out the entire day. But no biggie, i would reapply mid day and still it kept my summertime funk at bay.
As with all or most natural deodarants not having the Aluminum/antiperspirants in them means you will more than likely accumulate bacteria more frequently that will of course cause a bad smell in your underarm regions. However this isn’t necessarily the deodarants fault but as directed a good washing with antibacterial soap prior to applying or re applying natural deodarants will usually take care of and help this problem. Also, be aware that it has a rep for staining your clothes. But wait, there’s more! now on to the really bad thing that made it a deal breaker for me… after the honey moon stage of wearing this deodarant which only lasted about a week, i started noticing the dreaded and painful red swollen rash that i got witht trying most of the other natural deodarants. I was super bummed because i thought i had finally found my HG but sadly i did not:( I could have made peace with the usual little cons that come with wearing a natural deodarant that i expected with this product as well and I don’t usually wear white so i didn’t really get the bad stains from it either but rashes are red flags (no pun intended) I ended up doing some more digging online in some other beauty forums and had found out that in recent years (if not bearly last year) they had changed the formula.. boooooo…. needless to say it made me wonder if all of the rave reviews came from the older one and not this “new and improved” formula? I guess I will never know… *le sigh* I wanted to love it so much but obviously the rash thing automatcially makes it a no go. One last thing, I also noticed that the rashes tend to appear when you get really sweaty With this product but not when you are not perspiring as much so what the heck is the point of it? Anyway, when the rash wasn’t as swollen it left me with yet another unpleasent surprise: A super dark pit stain. I just used shea butter and coconut oil to heal it and lighten it back up but this took me almost a week to do so. I read that they have a sensitive version but im not so sure if I’d want to try it anymore tbh.. i don’t even have sensitive skin to begin with but to all of you that do you have been warned!
Another one bites the dust.. ._. Womp womp womp

Yep, I’m in love! This stuff works. Enough said!

I got the unscented pot for $7. It’s so moisturizing as shea butter is the first ingredient and melts very well upon skin contact. It doesn’t cause any irritation even when applied after a fresh shave but that could be due to the fact that this is unscented and has no essential oils. It keeps me fresh all day without any wetness or odor which is amazing since most natural deodorants only cancel out odor but not sweat. The fact that it’s in a pot is very travel friendly as well and you don’t have to worry about a stick breaking when you have only packed one set of deodorant. Great find for a great price.

I have the Royal Rouge scent (love) and the Lavender. I like both but the RR scent is the one I love most. Good packaging, spendy ($9 but I have had mine since Dec and it is now nearly March and still half full). I have not had any issues with staining. I feel it works better than the Schmidts, but I have only tried Schmidts in stick form not pot. I thought I would hate using a pot but it is easy, and actually a lot neater than using a stick. The paste is very fine (not as gritty as Schmidts) and it absorbs quickly on me. I haven’t noticed issues with clothing but I have also only used it in winter time so far. I love the scent of Royal Rouge!

Not only I wouldn’t buy it again but I tossed it after two tries. Works well as deodorant. No odor. But it STAINS!!! Yellow stains in the underarms of white shirt and white blazer. Very upsetting. I’m going back to my 1:1 mixture of baking soda and corn starch, plus a spritz of my perfume.

This review is specifically for the Coconut Lime Regular Pit Stick.
This is an alright natural deodorant; I sweat a lot so I wasn’t expecting it to do anything for perspiration, but it works okay for preventing smells (but only for a few hours). If you’re switching from antiperspirants to an all natural product, keep in mind that it takes a couple of weeks for your body to adjust to.
The scent is all lime, and I wish there was more of a coconut scent to it because it needs a touch of something sweet (it smells very astringent).
The feel of it takes some getting used to–it’s oil based so your pits are going to feel greasy all day. If it’s cold, it doesn’t spread very easily and you can feel the baking soda scraping against your skin (which can sometimes irritate it).
It didn’t stain any of my cotton shirts, but when I wore a chiffon-like blouse there were dark oil stains that still have not come out after washing it 🙁 So avoid thin, delicate materials with this deodorant.
Overall, I wasn’t crazy about this deodorant, but if you don’t sweat or smell much to begin with, aren’t sensitive to baking soda, and mostly wear heavy-duty clothing, then this could work for you.

I purchased the stick version of the Thyme Lemongrass scent after intermittently mooching off my sister’s Orange Creamsicle stick and liking it. Prior to PPP, I was a conventional antiperspirant user. For the first few weeks, it seemed to work well. It kept me relatively dry and stink-free. However, after that time, it kind of just stopped working. I’d become stinky and damp halfway through the day. I’ve also noticed an issue with it smearing all over the grooves of the screw-on cap, making it dirty-looking and wasting a bunch of product. I’ve since switched to a different natural deodorant and am much happier with it. I never noticed any staining issues, so at least there’s that. It might be the right fit for others, but it just wasn’t right for my body chemistry I suppose!

This product is FABULOUS. I have used it for over a year now. It takes a bit of getting used to- I had to get used to the application method, and I did have a short itchy reaction for a couple of days when I switched off of aluminum deodorants, but I stuck with it because I did not want to keep those toxins near to my breasts. Maybe I should have started with the lighter version. I don’t know. (My friend is fighting breast cancer.) I now LOVE it and my whole family uses it, even my teenage boys. AND IT WORKS. Even against “sports smell”, which, if you have boys, means you have to drive in the car with the windows rolled down all the way home 🙁 So, we all use pit paste. The stick is a bit firm/sticky at first, but after three seconds it softens and goes on just fine. I find I get better coverage with the stick, but my sons have been using the jar. They are both good. None of us have ever had any stained clothing, so I am not sure what the other commenters are talking about. I don’t know what kind of fabric they were wearing, but I wear mostly cotton and my kids wear cotton or those polyester sports clothes. I have worn it with evening dresses with no issues. No one has ever had a problem with staining in our house 🙂 We love the choice of scents. I use the lavender, and my kids the lemon-thyme, orangesicle, and we are going to try the lemonade. This stuff works, you will not smell! You may have to get used to not using an “antiperspirant” as I did- but it is worth using a totally safe product. Trust me! No other “natural” product had worked for me, and I kept going back to Secret, until I found this. Love it.

I really like this deodorant quite a bit, it is currently my favorite. It lasts all day long on me, controls wetness and odor. It is easy to work with, spreads easily and easy to apply. My skin had no reactions to this product. I have purchased a second jar. I purchase it from Amazon. Prior to purchasing the Primal Pit Paste Unscented, I purchased the Schmidt’s, and while that one worked fine, it was difficult to apply.
I read the review below about the product staining clothing, and I have never had that issue. I am not saying that cannot happen, but possibly the company has corrected that problem.
