The worst natural deodorant I have used thus far. I have this in the rose vanilla scent which is a light rosewater fragrance. The formula is grainy and simply does not work. I prefer Tom’s of Maine or Lavilin to this product.

My husband and I both tried this product, within a week we both developed multiple cysts in our armpits. Incredibly painful beyond belief!!! I ended up with 6 all at once, had 15 total during the duration. And even after two weeks of not using this product, the cysts have slowly been going down but very much so present. Do not use this product! Neither my husband nor I have sensitive skin, never experienced this before until this product. Be aware. Try at your own risk.

I’ve been trying different natural deodorants after swearing off antiperspirants due to their health hazards. I’m an active person and wanted something that would control b.o. I bought Schmidt’s Bergamot & Lime Deodorant and really enjoyed the scent and it actually worked to keep me smelling fresh for most of the day, even during hot days. However, after a week of use, I noticed my underarm skin turning dark brown and it had a bumpy texture. This was concerning and I stopped using it. After a few days and some exfoliation, my underarm skin became smooth again and the discolouration faded away. I decided to give this product another try a couple of weeks later and the same problem happened again! Into the garbage it went.

My favorite natural deodorant is Kopari Coconut which feels very smooth, almost gel-like in application. In comparison, Schmidt’s is quite dry, almost antiperspirant in it’s feel and the packaging says to not over-apply. I thought I’d give this a try as I was running low on my Kopari and spotted this one at Winners for half the regular price. I purchased the Coconut Pineapple Sensitive Skin version; it does not contain baking soda which is very important to me as it tends to irritate my underarms, plus I really liked the summery scent. I wore it on the hottest days of the summer (so far), with the humidex it was 47C, and it performed just fine, no wetness or odor coming from me so now I have a back up option, yay!
Update 8/28/19 – I wouldn’t call this the most long lasting deodorant because for the first time since switching to natural deodorant a year ago I detected an unpleasant odor while wearing this. I’ve done some research and it has been suggested that the arrowroot is what smells. Well, whatever it is, no thanks. I guess if you need a deodorant for only a portion of the day this is fine but I prefer Kopari. I put that on in the AM and I swear it lasts forever because the next day I am still odor-free.

I have been looking into a more natural lifestyle lately and wanted to try out a natural deodorant. I went to Walmart and found this product and got the lime scented one. I love the way it smelled. As soon as I got home I tried it and it seemed great and I could smell it on myself which I loved. However the next morning when I went to put it on my underarms instantly started burning. I looked over the ingredients and noticed that there is baking soda in this product. I had an incident in the past with a face wash that had baking soda in it and had the same reactions. So I’m guessing I am allergic to baking soda.
Overall I really wish I could’ve been able to use this product cause it seems like it would’ve worked well, minus the fact that I had a reaction to it. It smelled amazing and I loved that all the ingredients were explained on the back. Definitely good for people who want a natural lifestyle

I got the rose and vanilla scented stick at target on a whim because the scent was so lovely and I had heard good things about the brand so I wanted to like it so bad!! But unfortunately, it became yet another fail On my “find my HG natural deodarant journey” =/
I liked the consistency and creamy application. Granted i did try it during the spring time while it was warmer so it wasn’t hard to apply or as gritty as some of the people claim it was for them. All it took was holding it next to my armpit for a few seconds to warm it up and it glided on smoothly. It did keep the funk at bay and smelled lovely for a while. I loved it for about 3 days and then came the unsightly all too familiar painful red burning rash that came with the previous natural deodarants that I tried (Nooooooooo :’< ) the rash then turned into a super dark spot once the swelling went down a bit but It took me a week to heal the rash and lighten up my pits. Coconut oil and shea butter to the rescue yet again, but yeah... never again... I’ve been down this road before with other natural deodarants and was hoping i wouldn’t have to go through it again but unfortunately I did. Needless to say It was a no go for me and if you have sensitive skin don't even think about Trying it out... however, they do have a sensitive version which i have heard isn’t as harsh so I might be trying it out and will do a future update on that one if I do!

I’ve been using Schmidt’s natural deodorant now for over a year. I first purchased their regular formula in Vanilla Rose. Within 24 hours I started to develop a rash. Then I tried their hybrid formula, Charcoal Magnesium, because the scent was incredible. It has only half the baking soda as the original and has added magnesium as an alternative as the other half. That lasted about 3 days before I got a rash. So, next I tried their sensitive formula and success! I use the scents Geranium Flower and Waves which is a summer seasonal scent only available online on Schmidt’s website. The sensitive formula is much smoother than the original formula which I found gritty and hard to apply. I only use a couple swipes under each arm and, although I still sweat, the odor is kept at bay for about 10-12 hours, but keep in mind I live in Central Florida. No problems with staining of shirts, but my daughter has. I believe the company recommends thin layers to prevent that. These natural deodorant sticks are heavily laden with various oils and Shea butter etc.
HOWEVER, I found a wonderful natural stick deodorant I like so much better on Etsy by a seller who’s store is called NaturisticBath. I bought the Roses and Vanilla and am in love! This one keeps me drier and odor free longer than Schmidt’s. It’s also easier to apply. Costs a couple bucks more, but that’s ok because it works!!! Got the matching body powder and roll on perfume as well as I like layering my scents after showering.
But, I’ll keep using my Schmidt’s sensitive for variety as the scents I have are lovely and all in all it’s a great product! ????

Smells great and no animal testing. It doesn’t last as long as the best natural deodorants but the spray bottle makes it easy to reapply without grossing the deodorant on already sweaty under arms.

I’d like to warn of my horrible reaction to this product , breaking into a rash in both armpits that required 2 doctors’ visits and 2 different steroid creams. It’s taking weeks to go. I emailed Sukin and they offered me replacement products. A package of 3 items arrived, all heavy with the ingredients I suspect are the potential cause of unwanted reaction , namely fragrant oils Orange and Lavender. Fair play to the company for trying to make amends but I will be giving these things away. Initially I thought the deodorant was great but it’s back to Dove roll-on henceforth.

I live in a hot, humid climate all year round so a deodorant is a must! I was searching for an aluminium-free deodorant and have tried MooGoo before this. MooGoo helped slightly to reduce my body odour, but not entirely. So I tried this one. It does reduce my body odour, but not entirely. By afternoon-late afternoon the effectiveness is reduced. Plus, I stopped using this because it stings my armpits! So no, I won’t repurchase it. And it’s expensive for a deodorant. I’m now using the natural salt deodorant and I love it so far!

This is alright. It smells really really good. Vanilla and tangerine. And I love that it’s all natural.
However. There are some issues.
The application. For one I like the sprayer more than I like normal deodorant applicators. But, I find myself wasting product and using one too many sprays as you constantly have to pump to get the correct amount. Also, this takes awhile to dry and leaves your armpits sticky with product.
Doesn’t last. I sweat a lot at my job, so this stuff kinda helps, kinda doesn’t. The projection and longevity could be improved.

I’m all for aluminium free deodorant. I mean, it’s *a must* considering how dangerous deodorants with aluminium are. So when I found Sukin’s natural deodorant I was pretty stoked.
Now it smells divine, perhaps I got a particularly *orangey* batch but it smelt like oranges and nothing else. Which is great. However there was something in the formula that made my skin really irritated and itchy as hell (perhaps it was the tangerine oil?). I had to stop wearing it because of that reaction. However my partner tried it, really liked it and used it all up during winter (but with the feedback that he loved it but it wouldn’t be effective as a deodorant in summer).

Pros:
– All natural ingredients (No aluminum and paraben free)
– Smells nice, I could only smell the vanilla though, not the tangerine and mandarin.
– Won’t stain clothes
Cons:
– It does not last as long as your regular deodorant, so I don’t believe that it will last on a hot day either.
– Bit on the pricey side, but then pretty much or deodorants are expensive nowadays for Australians.
– Bottle looks exactly the same as the Sukin’s face mist toner, so be careful getting them both mixed up, you don’t want this on your face.
Overall, if you’re a big sweater or your job involves a lot of moving around, don’t bother with this deodorant.

i LOVE the fact this is way more natural than regular deodorant. the smell is earthy- spicy yet citrus-like- i’m not a huge fan of the scent. it’s good, but if it’s a hot day or you’re going to the gym, it’s not as effective as regular deodorant. you’ve gotta touch up throughout the day. this is the only reason why i’m contemplating NOT re-purchasing it again…

I have always been a natural deodorant user, and unfortunately this one did not make the cut. I don’t struggle with BO nor do I sweat that much, but even this deodorant wasn’t strong enough to completely mask the end of day smell that I get.
I have this in honeysuckle rose, since I read a review that said this was the mildest scent they had. I am not a fan of this scent, I find it sort of mixed in with the sweat smell and became this odd flowery yet damp smell? It also doesn’t dissipate completely so it does compete with my perfume somewhat which is a big no for me.
However, it was cheap so not a huge loss. Good packaging, didn’t experience any leaking or product getting stuck. It also goes on smoothly with no irritation, and also does not pill up in the folds of the underarm or stain clothes. Will not repurchase or recommend unfortunately.

Wow! Pleasantly surprised by these deos. Works well. They glide on well without a ton of residue. They smell great and do a great job at keeping you fresh all day. This worked wonders for me and I feel great using a deo that is more natural.

This was my first line of deodarants that I tried out on the beginning of my “finding my HG all natural deodarant journey” a couple of years back. The apricot one was the first one that I tried and at first it was ok buuuuut then discomfort ensued:( I knew that since it was an all natural deodorant that it wouldnt absorb sweat like an antiperspirant would but really just mask the smell of sweat and beginning my aluminum antiperspirant detox was aware of the unpleasent first steps that would occur. As expected I did notice a funky smell after it weared off. But alot of people need to realize it isn’t necessarily the product that does this to you it’s the bacteria that harbours in your under arm area. No sweat absorption means increase in bacteria, hence the funk you may smell with any or most natural deodarants i have come to find. Just wash your armpits with antibacterial soap before you put it on once a day atleast i find that it helps keeps that problem at bay. Also, since there is no absorption it may cause some under arm stains on your clothes which is another complaint. But the worst of all was that it started causing a very painful red and swollen rash under my armpits. At first i thought this was perhaps just part of the detox process with having switched to a natural deodarant but found out that it really is just this deodarant after trying the lavender one sometime later down the road and just ending up with the same rash. I did some more research on it later to find out that it has some more irritating ingredients that caused those rashes for me propylence glycol which unfortunately was the first ingredient listed. It’s too bad coz i like most of the scents and have easier access to buying them at the store than most natural deodarants but sadly its a no go for me. Needless to say, if you have sensitive skin I would definitely steer clear of this deodarant.
P.s So far I have found that the only natural deodarants that work for me are only found online. My favorites thus far are by the organic and independently owned fields of heather brand as well as lavender moon by spirit nest. They have a creamier consistency, smell great and don’t cause those painful red rashes. But if you like a more water based consistency similar to toms, arm and hammer has one called essentials that is similar in texture but doesn’t cause the red rashes (at least not for me) just throwing it out there for anyone who is on the lookout for a better aluminum free natural deodarant

When will I ever learn. I always want to find that amazing natural deodorant that keeps me from being stinky, but so far it has been an expensive, fruitless search. This is another one to add to the failure pile for me. I liked the way it smelled in the stick (Honeysuckle Rose) but shortly after I put it on, I started to sweat and then stink. It did nothing. Well, it did do something–gave me a red itchy rash…not good.

This product is HORRIBLE. I typically do not even wear deodorant as I don’t sweat that much and work in an air conditioned office. However, in the summer, or actives (like weddings, where there will be dancing, etc ) I’ll wear deodorant.
This deodorant makes me smell terrible. At first I thought maybe I was eating something that was causing a change. But, then I read reviews very similar to what I was experiencing. I then decided to do a “test”. I showered and went without any deodorant – even worked out (I did rinse afterwards.) No smell. The next day I used the deodorant and did NOT workout – and I had horrible smelling armpits by mid afternoon. Like “stress sweat” smell. It was nasty.
Yuck! Never will buy this product again.

I use Tom’s toothpaste. I love their environmentally friendly, vegan and natural approach (I’m currently attempting to leave behind any non-vegan, unnatural products.) I like the company, in theory I should like their deoderant, but holy absolute shit, this is the worst deodorant in the entire world. It actually makes me smell worse. Now, I do sweat a lot (I naturally have a tendency to sweat a little more AND I live in a hot climate) but in the past three days that I’ve had this product the weather has been extremely mild and I’ve spent very, very little time outside or moving around a lot. I smell so bad while typing this that I now want to go take a shower. My body odor has never smelled even half as bad as they do when I use this. I may as well go without completely.

I purchased this in Rose + Vanilla. I absolutely love the smell and it did keep my armpits dry. I used it for a few days before I started reacting to it. I noticed my armpits were starting to itch and I thought maybe it was because I may have irritated them while shaving, no. My armpits NEVER itch so I was already alarmed. The itching progressively got worse and I mean the itching was getting to the point where all I wanted to do was scratch and wash them. I had developed horrible rashes. My skin was bright red and it almost looked like my armpits had burn marks on them.
I have never had a reaction this bad to any product. It took days, maybe even a whole week for everything to go back to normal. Once I stopped using it, the rash went away and the itching stopped completely. I wanted to like this so badly..but no.

I picked up the 3 pack of these in the rose vanilla scent on a whim at Costco for $12. I have tried a few other natural deodorants and they have not worked for me. I sweat a lot and workout regularly so I need one that keeps me dry and doesn’t stink. This one is great for that and I find I don’t need a lot to keep me dry and smelling fresh. I have not experienced any irritation or under arm darkening as others mentioned. This does have a very strong fake rose scent upon initial application but it does fade to a faint slightly sweet rose smelling scent which I don’t mind. My usual old spice in the wolf thorn scent hasn’t been working well on me lately and I think I have found my replacement with this one. Well priced for natural deodorant too but I’m not sure if other stores sell it and for what price.
wingedWildfowl4
I’ve tried most of the scents and formulas, and I like all of them – they keep me smelling fine and without irritation. I prefer the sensitive formula though, as I find it easier to apply and also can be used straight after shaving (the bicarbonate of soda can be a little harsh on freshly shaved skin).
I’ve been using Schmidt’s deodorants for a few years now (I alternate sometimes with Pacifica’s wipes or my own concoctions) and am very happy with them.
dreadfulPepper9
It is not very effective as a deodorant. I would consider it lightweight. It failed miserably when I worked out and I have to touch up periodically throughout the day with mild activity. So I mainly use it at night and when I am staying home. It smells very earthy which I don’t particularly like and finding it hard to warm up to. The mist also takes forever to dry.
enviousSalt4
I used to use the generic brand from the supermarket, but most of them are leaving me with rather bad body odor at the end of the day. So i decided to switch to something different such as natural based deodorant. This sukin deodorant is surprisingly good. I love it how it is gentle to your skin, it doesn’t cause any irritation, and it doesn’t cause any bad smell at the end of the day. It comes in a pump spray that gives you nice gentle mist and refreshing instead of aerosol spray. I also like the fact that the bottle is environmental friendly and cruelty free. It is twice the price (NZ$12.99) than the ones you get from supermarket; however, the quality is much better. Would I buy this again? yes =).

I LOVE IT
nice smell
very refreshing
great for normal day
not recommend if you are gonna hit the gym or do sweaty activity.
awedApples7
Very surprised it keeps sweat away in hot humid days, no rash or irritation. I must one of the few that doesn’t get side effects. I usually cannot wear any antiperspirant deodorants due to bumps irritation!! I usually have sensitive skin anywhere with perfume artificial lotions , facials and armpits.
ps: Another trick on none deo days I wipe Lime juice on my underarms after showers. And keeps odor away for me! I do sweat but no smell
ecstaticLizard4
I wish wish wish I could say I love this product, because I really love the brand and what it stands by. I also love the fact that Toms stays natural and is free of harmful chemicals.
The unfortunate part is that it doesn’t work for me or anyone that I know!! Toms literally makes my armpits smell worse when I apply it then go work out. It’s scary how bad I smell. I stand by the company and if it works for you, kudos and I am jealous but in my experience it doesn’t do anything to mitigate odor.
excludedShads7
simply does not work.
