I really wanted to like this product.
BUT!!
I have combination skin, very acne prone, very sensitive. I go pretty light on makeup during the day, with just a little bit of Clinique Stay Matte liquid foundation and some blush, mascara, eye liner, etc. This cleanser did a fabulous job at removing everything in one wash. However, it also really dried out my skin to the point where it was becoming uncomfortable. Areas around where I was breaking out (e.g., chin and jaw area) also looked very dry and worse than usual (and I’m not using any prescription acne treatment.)
I didn’t hate this cleanser. But I certainly didn’t love it either. I’m going back to Paula’s Choice Moisture Boost Cleanser until I can find my HG product!!

I think this is a good cleansing product. The cleanser is creamy but surprisingly removes the dirt and grimes of the day. It also rinses easily.
My skin felt soft after washing but it did feel as if there’s something on my face and I would guess that’s the hyaluronic acid and ceramides. It didn’t leave my skin squeaky clean like other products.
My confusion with this product is that according to Paula Begoun, anti-aging ingredients in a facewash are useless because they’re just washed away. I’m not sure why then did she load up this cleanser with anti-aging ingredients that made it expensive. Are customers just washing aways their money down the drain with this product?
There seems to be many contradicting statements coming from Paula’s Choice that leaves the consumers confused.

This cleanser is not as drying as other cleansers. However, it caused me to break out (especially in weird patterns/places I never break out), it does not remove makeup well as it claims, and it makes my face oilier than normal- I think it leaves some sort of residue.

This is my HG cleaner. I have been through about 3 or 4 bottles of it now. It takes off most makeup but I do feel like I need to double cleanse if I only use this (note: I only use my hands and water to wash my face. I tried a clarisonic and it gave me cystic acne). My skin is combo but I use retin-a (so I get dry flakey patches at times) and this doesn’t strip my skin or make it sensitive. It doesn’t break me out. It’s really a solid basic cleanser that gets the job done. I want to believe the anti-aging ingredients are helping my skin as well. I typically use cera ve in the morning and this at night. I also use the Paula’s Choice regular/not anti-aging version of this which is usually in my shower because of the flip top lid. That one is a little cheaper and I think they work about as well, but I pick the Resist version for the anti aging ingredients. This seems like a simple and short review but honestly finding something that works was a challenge for me and Paula’s Choice has been amazing for me. Before this I tried a lot of very popular cleansers. I think I tried Fresh and Purity and both broke me out. I tried First Aid beauty and it did not break me out but I also didn’t feel like it cleaned as well. Estee Lauder perfectly clean is nice but it’s a bit stripping. I used cetaphil for oily skin for a while, which gave an esthetician I visited heart palpitations.
Anyway, I like this one a lot. It’s not too expensive as there are always sales going on. I highly recommend it. I bought if my sister who has really oily skin and she has been enjoying it too.

I tried Paula’s Choice Resist Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser because I have enjoyed other products in the Resist line. This cleanser is a fragrance-free, thick white cream which foams slightly when water is added. I regret that it took some time for me to understand the best way to use this cleanser was to dispense only a small amount, less than one whole “pump”, and emulsify it with some water by rubbing my hands together before applying to face. The creamy foam spreads easily on the skin, and normalizes combination / oily skin by removing sebum without overstripping. However, if it is used directly from the bottle without properly diluting, or if too much product is dispensed, it is significantly more drying, which can eventually cause irritation or excess oil production. After using an entire bottle, I did not see any significant difference between this product and the more affordable PC Skin Balancing Cleanser. Having said that, I think if the Resist cleanser is properly metered out, the price per usage may even out, leaving the bulk of the choice on whether the Resist product improves skin due to its extra anti-aging ingredients. I did not see any real difference in my complexion, so I would repurchase Skin Balancing instead.
Although the packaging of the Resist cleanser feels heavy and luxurious, it is kind of a pain to handle. I know that people were begging for pump dispensers, but I find that the product thickness means having to put a lot of pressure on the pump, and the tall, narrow bottle can easily slip. As an alternative, holding the bottle to pump doesn’t work well with damp hands. I definitely prefer PC’s shampoo-bottle style for facial cleansers.

I got the complimentary trial size which is a nice travel mini. Mine didn’t foam and it had a lotion like feel. I have combination skin, tending towards dry but with an oily T zone. I am prone to milia and hives, but not sensitive to BHA, AHA and retinoids. It didn’t irritate and it was reasonably good at taking off some makeup (I do not wear long lasting or waterproof, and I also use a separate makeup remover. For eyes, bliss lid and lash oil free gel which doesn’t irritate milia prone skin). I am a fan of Paula’s Choice (particularly her BHA 2% liquid. Her 8% AHA and her retinol body cream (which I use on face as per MUA recommendations). But, I cannot see buying even a moderately priced cleanser when there are so many other less expensive options that perform as well or better. (I rotate through a combination of CVS dupe of the Garnier micellar; Cerave hydrating, eucerin hydrating and unscented glycerin liquid soap). When I was younger and had oily skin, I used purpose liquid cleanser. I have not tried this yet in the wintertime when I need more hydration, but will probably reserve it for then. Note: The PC website says this reduces the look of enlarged pores. Uh, no. But I don’t think anyone expects it to do so. I will take MUA Eire1’s suggestion below of mixing cetaphil with Cerave for a similar feel.

This cleanser is really great. I had originally bought it for myself but received a ton of cleanser for Christmas and so I was using other ones for a while. However, I gave this to my boyfriend to try to get him to take better care of his skin. He had tried other cleansers before but hadn’t really enjoyed how they made his skin feel. He loves this cleanser though. I actually miss this a lot and have ordered one for myself. I like it better than my expensive Sephora brand cleansers. It foams but does not dry out your skin and I feel completely clean when I use this (I am never worried about left over makeup).

This cleanser is pretty nice, but I just don’t think it’s worth the high price tag. There are so many great drugstore cleansers, and even Paula’s Choice skin balancing cleanser performs similarly and is a much better deal. this cleanser has quite the luxurious, creamy feel, and does a great job at removing makeup and not leaving your skin over-dried. I find that I get much better results out of my toner if I start with a PC cleanser. That being said, you really don’t need to invest so much in something that isn’t left on your face. overall a decent product though!

I just bought my third bottle of this wonderful cleanser. It gently removes all my makeup without stripping my skin. It washes off cleanly and has no scent. I use this product at least twice a day in the morning and evening and it usually takes me less than a full pump to clean my entire face. The only downside for me is the price but they usually have great sales and so I feel like it’s a great buy.

i really wanted to like this, but it clogged up my pores something fierce. after about 2 days of using this, my skin was really bumpy and i had a bunch of whiteheads. the only ingredient that i feel might cause this would be the soybean oil. i think this would be more suitable for people with dry, sensitive skin. not so much if you struggle with congested skin. i might try this out again in the dead of winter, since it doesn’t strip your skin and does actually make my face feel pretty clean.
packaging is your basic pump bottle. one pump is enough for your whole face. doesn’t really foam up that much and has more of a creamy consistency. removes makeup pretty well, but you should probably double cleanse. i don’t notice a scent.
