This dried out my skin horribly and left it burnt. Didn’t help my acne much and would not recommend. My face is now red and irritated, and I have super dry patches. I have been lathering myself with moisturizer but it is very painful. Will never buy again.

Good product, thoroughly cleanses my face but can dry it a bit. Follow with moisturizer.

Great cleanser for the warmer months as I can be drying…it contains 4% glycolic acid. Leaves skin clean with no residue and removes oil and makeup. On my third bottle.

This was OK. It was a freebie with my NeoStrata smoothing creams, so I can’t complain about that, but it was a little too drying for me. The smell was also really unpleasant. I’m not sure I’m on board with glycolic cleansers when you kind of need the glycolic acid to remain on your skin for a sufficient period of time to get the exfoliating benefits. Maybe if you have oily/combo skin, this could work well.

I had really bad acne scars years ago and started using this face wash. Combined with the glycol acid lotion it worked wonders on my skin, fading my acne scars and a few disappeared. However with continued use it became too strong for my skin and I broke out, but nothing like acne scars. It was great but do not keep on using it (for more than a few months I would say) if you have combination skin.

My skin as of late has been getting used to salicylic acid in my face washes so it was time to try something stronger.
London Drugs had a special this week of receiving a free tube of this Oil Free Gel Cleanser, with any $35 Neostrata purhase. I was happy to be able to get two Neostrata products for approx. $40.
This cleansing gel was a good start for me, with 4% glycolic acid. I don’t have acne but I do have oily skin, and my pore have been looking clogged and tunnel-like lately. AFTER THE FIRST USE, no joke, my pores looked cleaned out and smaller, amazing! I’m on Day 5 now of using this Gel Cleanser and it’s very effective in making the top layers of skin peel off, revealing smoother and tighter skin. The tube says “Reveals smoother, younger-looking skin in just 10 days” and so far, it’s true.
The second Neostrata product that I got, Oil Free Daytime Smoothing Lotion Level 3, contains 10% glycolic acid, and I haven’t opened it yet. I suspect it’s going to be too strong, as the 4% glycolic acid Cleansing Gel already very adequately exfoliating the top layers and is making my skin peel. I will exchange it for Smoothing Lotion Level 2 at 8% glycolic acid.
I’ve noticed that now when I wear powder foundation, my face looks better too, in that the powder foundation is no longer sitting on top of “dead skin” on my face, and blends into my complexion much better.
The price is high for a cleanser (regular retail is $27) but it works, so I would definitely repurchase or even better, keep my eyes out for another London Drugs promotion.

I have been using this for quite a few months now, an have to say I’m dissapointed 🙁 I have super oily, clog prone and acne prone skin with visible pores and redness. While I don’t always have large pimples, I have small but visible bumps covering my whole face. This cleanser was not nearly as effective as I hoped. The bumps reduced slightly, but never a lot. My skin is still very oily and dehydrated looking, and my blackheads and open pores are the same. However, this didn’t cause me to breakout or have extra irritation, so it’s not bad, just not worth the price.

This is a really nice cleanser from Laura Mercier. It is gentle and oil free, so it’s good for oily skin. I don’t pick up on much of a fragrance (if any) from it. It’s gentle enough to use around the eyes. The drawback is it’s price, but it’s still a good cleanser.

This product is so good. It does what it says on the bottle and cleanses make-up off thoroughly- nothing more nothing less.
This can be used in the shower too which is a major advantage in my books. At first I thought it was nothing special but since I finished the bottle I’ve tried many other cheaper products which were disappointing. Nothing cleaned as thoroughly as this did – I use it over my eye area too and is the only product I’ve tried that removes everything and doesn’t leave any surprises for the next morning. I look forward to purchasing this again soon.

Too drying. Overrated. Overpriced. Too many superfluous ingredients such as colour etc. Even though one could argue the fact it includes numerous beneficial ingredients, I have come to the conclusion that just because an ingredient is deemed great for skin on its own, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a brilliant idea to mix 20 of them together. If anything, I think it overloads the skin and ends in irritation and break-outs.

This is a fantastic cleanser. Use it everyday now. I’ve had this for roughly 4 months. Let me give it to you straight.
Pros:
-lathers, but not too much to the point that it gets in your eyes, mouth or nose.
-cleans everything, without drying out the skin. (and I am very sensitive to this kinds of cleansers–i always believe that they will completely strip my skin of it’s moisture)
-adds back moisture. I researched pretty much all 46 ingredients and more than half are for adding moisture to the skin!
-good consistency.
-smell isn’t too overbearing.
-pump dispenser(although in time too much bacteria will get back into the bottle but hey! it’s better than a jar.)
-as funny as it sounds, i enjoy the lovely marine blue color.
-I don’t have to wet my face prior to applying the product in order for it to lather or to actually cleanse my skin.
Cons:
-I would normally complain about the price, however since this is so worth it, I wont. But perhaps for some, the price will be a huge turn off.
-Sometimes it’s annoying to have to pick up the bottle in order to pump out the product.
-It’s not available in many stores, i could only find this in Neiman Marcus, Sephora carries it, however only online.
I think you can get it at Nordstroms however!
To summarize, this is my hg cleanser. I believe it has been helping me to clear my skin!
UPDATE:
I realised that this was the culprit to making my skin sag. Let me just say, it never felt like my skin was so dehydrated, but after I switched back to my Dr. Hauschka cleansing milk, my skin retrived its moisture, suppleness, and overall vitality. Will only use from time to time when I need to remove heavy make up.
UPDATE #2
Either it was the algae extract or the sodium laureth sulfate which i know now clogs my pores, well clogged my pores. In the bin it went.

i bought this cleanser on ebay for 11 bucks and i figured if i didn’t like it, so what it was cheap. anyways, i was pleasantly suprised to find it cleans your face very well. i like the texture of the gel and it lathers nicely. you need 2-3 pumps and it comes in a generous 8oz bottle so it will last few months. it takes off your makeup and does not dry out your face. i have oily blemish skin and although i havent noticed any clearing of the existing spots. i will continue to use this for now but i dont think i will pay 35 retail price.

This is my HG cleanser and I haven’t looked for another one for some time now. Whenever I stray I always come back to this one. This is a nice, gentle gel cleanser that is not stickey in texture. It does the basic job of cleansing my skin, purifying it and leaving it smooth. This cleanser leaves no film on the skin. I think it is a good price for how much product you get and its hygenic pump packaging makes it so convient and easy to use. I know some derms and skin specialists that often recomend this cleanser to use w/ retinoids . I don;t use them but since this cleanser is so gentle I think this would be a good option for people using any retinoids. This has great ingredients(list is @ lauramercier.com) but they probably are basically going down the drain. However, that may help it not be harsh or irritaing like some other cleansers.

I was looking for a gentle cleanser for my combo acne prone skin and bought this as it was recommended by Paula B. I find it to be too drying and leaves my skin feeling tight. It is too expensive for what it is. I much prefer my Clinique liquid mild cleanser.

I’ve been using this product for 3 years now. Since it is a little expensive, sometimes i switch for a cheaper cleanser , but then i remember that it is the only cleanser i know that helps to control my acne and my oily face. After a couple of days , you will see a big improvement in the glow of your face and it will help scarring the acne. This product made me fall in love with the neostrata brand and i often refer my friends to it.
relievedThrushe4
The cleanser is good but not AS GOOD as the clarifying gel cleanser that Neostrata has. The oil free one didn’t remove my makeup well at all (I use eye makeup remover but this cleanser could barely clean my face makeup off) and I would end up having to wash my face twice to get it clean. If you’re looking at Neostrata, I would recommend the clarifying cleanser over this!

I received this as a small sample sized tube at SDM and left it in my drawer unopened until I ran out of my biotherm cleanser 2 weeks ago. After using this for 3 days, I immediately went out to buy a full sized tube and stopped using my regular face cleanser. Within 3 days, my skin was noticeably brighter, all my white heads were cleared up, my skin was smoother, and every pore was tighter. After 2 weeks of using this cleanser, my skin has been more clear than it has been for months. The texture of the gel cleanser is a bit watery and it smells a bit like chlorine, but it REALLY REALLY works. The results are better than a light chemical peel at the spa because it’s a gradual every removal of dead skin cells to give you better, brighter skin every day.

I love this cleanser! I have ‘normal’ skin with occasional break-outs and very little oiliness, but some uneven tone. I have been using this for about a month. This cleanser makes my skin so soft and really clear and even looking. It does not leave my skin feeling dry or tight. It is expensive, but definitely worth the money.

After reading good things about this I just had to try it, specially now when I’m trying out the tips that many famous skindoctors has writen about my skintype (oily-very oily). It is quite obvious that Paula recommended it in here book 🙂 It contains a lot of good stuff, and is fragrance-free and for my skintype.
After using Cliniques liquid soaps (mild-regular) for a year I wanted to try this for a change.
This cleans the face good, removing oiliness, sunscreen etc. I use it over the whole face (even the eyearea), and it works for that. It lathers a bit, and you need 2-3 pumps to clean the face.
First my face did feel dry or more dehydrated, so I’m guessing that this is a bit stronger than my past clinique cleanser. That is the strange part of my face, it is very oily but very easy dehydrated. But after using for a while, my face feels a bit more normal.
I wouldn’t use it in the winter, this is more a summer cleanser for my face. And I’m likely going back to Clinique when this is finished or becomming autumm/colder, but still recommending it for the more oily skintypes.

This cleanser is perfect. Seriously. It’s the cleanser I always return to after I experiment with crap cleansers. After using this, I believed I just happened to have great skin that was perfect and I could use anything. SERIOUSLY. I BELIEVED I NATURALLY HAD PERFECT SKIN. I switched to neutrogena oil-free acne wash. (I have very oily skin, but i only breakout from time to time) My goodness, was my skin awful after that! I went around using different cleansers for a while, and I realized it was THIS cleanser that made my skin so gorgeous. Now, I use Shu Uemura cleansing oil (another wonderful cleanser), but when I want a nice, gentle, refreshing clean I use this. (Prob. about 4 times a week in the evenings)
IT’S AWESOME!
