For my dry/combo aging skin, cleansing oils are my favorite for removing the day from my face. Found this line at Target. I massage the oil onto my face to break up makeup. This oil is a bit richer/thicker than other cleansing oils, not as runny, and deep yellowish in color. It also doesn’t emulsify with water like many others, so you have to be good about wiping or rinsing your face clean; on the other hand, it’s great when my skin is super dry and this reduces irritation. I’m not a huge fan of tea tree oil scent but there is enough lavender to balance it. Comes in an unassuming, plain glass bottle painted white, with white plastic pump (good for squirting the oil onto your fingers or a cotton pad), and a clear plastic cap. $14.

This is one of the more expensive cleansers I’ve used so far and also a little different from what i usually go for. I normally go for the foaming water based cleansers, never tried a oil cleanser before. However there are somethings that i don’t mind spending a little extra on depending on what it is, you know? I haven’t read any reviews on this product and am a little surprised by the low ratings on this site.
Is a nice thin oil that is easy to use and apply, you dont need to use a lot, just a single pump is more then enough. Feels very nice and soothing on the skin, was also surprisingly easy to rinse off because i thought that since it is an oil cleanser it would be harder to get off but nope. Doesn’t have any added fragrances other then the natural scents of the ingredients used, i think it smells kinda like coconuts but its not an overpowering or very fake smell, like some of the other products i have used. My skin felt and looked unbelievably clean AND hydrated after using this which is a rare combo for my dry skin. As i have said in other reviews, most hydrating cleanser don’t add a lot of moisture or actually dries me out even more. I love what this does to my skin and I haven’t had any irritation that other reviewers experienced. I also really do like the packaging, is a nice clear bottle with a pump.
I am trying to switch over to eco-friendly and all natural products just because that is what i personally prefer to use especially after trying a few and i just like the idea of using products that dont have any harsh chemicals that will harm the earth. Overrall i am very happy with this cleanser and highly recommend people with dry skins to check it out if you are interested in a good all natural cleanser but don’t mind spending a little extra.

This stings my eyes. Cosmetics shouldn’t be painful or irritating, particularly face products that is supposed to be used near the eye area. It’s not worth it and should be everyone’s first criterias for beauty products. I will be avoiding this product in the future and I’m on the hunt for a non irritating formula. Pass on this one. Not recommended

Hmm, this hasn’t done any positive to my skin. Every skin is different. I would say that it is the same as regular soap. But way more expensive.

Unfortunately aggravated my Melasma, hyperpigmentation and rosacea. Will take months if ever to get back to acceptable cleat skin without marked redness and hyperpigmentation.

I’ve been looking for a good, clean, affordable cleansing balm/oil and this one fits the bill. Honestly, I still prefer Clinique’s Take the Day Off Balm, but this does a good job at half the price. The scent is a little strong, but I can live with it.
I use this as my first cleanser. I follow up with either Cereve’s cleanser or a miscellar water. I have to tell you, that cotton ball is pretty darn clean. There just isn’t much left for the miscellar water to clean up after using this. This takes off my eye makeup as well.

This is a great cleansing oil. Now that the cleansing oil craze has died down it’s also the only one under $30 at CVS.
Pros:
1. Smell is natural unlike some cheaper ones that smell like petroleum
2. Takes off everything including waterproof mascara that laughs at removers
3. Helps keep my skin clear
4. Lasts a long time without spoiling
Cons:
1. Price
I tried to just use my creamy cleanser to save $$ and I started breaking out for the first time in a long, long while. It’s totally worth it for me and it you are clog prone, double cleansing can be a game changer.

I don’t understand why this isn’t rated higher. I love this cleansing oil! It takes off all of my makeup without drying my skin out or any breakouts. I used to use DHC, but that really dried out my skin over time. This one is very gentle and effective. I don’t notice any eye irritation any more than any other cleansing oil.

I love DHC but thought I’d give this a go. I do love Trader Joe’s and have had a generally good experience with their products. This, unfortunately, is one of the duds for me. My general complaints:
1. The consistency is too thin
2. It’s heavily scented
3. It stings the heck out of my eyes, and seems to do so even after I have rinsed
4. It doesn’t remove makeup all that well, especially eye makeup (which has the extra hazard of #3)
5. It doesn’t emulsify really, at all. Very hard to tell if it’s rinsed off
So yeah. Not a great one for me. The pros? It’s very, very well priced, and doesn’t strip the skin. With that said, I can’t really say it CLEANS the skin because I can never tell if it rinses off. But, it also hasn’t made me break out, either. So I’ve given it two stars because it’s not great and I definitely won’t repurchase, but it wasn’t SO bad I couldn’t finish it.

I LOVE this as my morning in the shower cleanser.
I don’t ever go to bed with makeup on, so I’m not trying to melt off any of that.
It has a light, slightly organic scent. That is a nice change as most things are WAY too fragranced for my tastes. It has nice, thin consistency that’s not too viscous like many of the face oils. To be fair, it may sting your eyes. I haven’t had that issue, but I use only a single pump for my face & neck. It rinses great & leaves my skin feeling clean & moist with no tightness.
Not sure how it gets 2 $$. It’s by far the least expensive cleansing oils I’ve found.
The packaging is pretty typical of Trader Joe’s – basic and simple. My only problem is when you get to the end of the bottle there’s about 3 days more use that the pumps can’t dispense.
I try to buy 2 every time I go to TJ!

I love the packaging and price of the product. It is a very thin consistency so it was easy to spread around and removes makeup well like most oil cleanser. The major problem I have with it is that it stings and burns my eyes really bad and the stinging lingers. Even after washing it off, my eyes continued burning. Also, it didn’t rinse off as cleanly as other oil cleansers.

Now as an oil cleanser I really like this product. My skin has gotten really dry over the past few years and this adds much needed moisture to it. I’m usually really sensitive to coconut oil and it breaks me out, but this doesn’t. It leaves my skin feeling really moisturized.
Now, the reason I’ve only given this a 3/5 – my eyes burn like HELL after using it. I don’t get it anywhere near my eyes, but my eyes burn and water like crazy for several minutes after I wash my face. It’s miserable. I’m assuming it’s the fragrance that is doing it, although I’m normally not sensitive to fragrance at all.
It’s a shame because I like how it feels on my skin, but I have to work up the nerve to use it every day. I’ll have to try a different oil cleanser.

I bought this based on a recommendation but it simply just didn’t work out for me. I’m bummed because I like the consistency and the fragrant but this cleansing oil does not does what it claims to do – at least not for me.

I can get past the fact that it doesn’t really emulsify or having to double cleanse but the fact that this oil cleanser broke me out is a no go. Can’t even finish the bottle because it breaks me out…

This was my first foray into cleansing oils, and it was a very inexpensive option. It cost about $6 for 4oz. and it has lasted me about 4-6 weeks. My cleansing routine is to use eye makeup remover, then this oil, then my Soap & Glory Vitamin C face wash. I feel that it helps to break down and remove my sunscreen and spot concealer (I don’t wear foundation), but it doesn’t remove mascara and eyeliner (hence the eye make up remover first). It goes on with an oily feeling that I rub in all over my face, then I splash with tepid water which makes the oil emulsify, then I add my face wash. My face feels clean and soft after rinsing and not at all dry. I like this enough to keep using it, and I bought another bottle on my last TJ’s visit.

I’m a big fan of DHC’s olive oil cleanser, so when I saw this at TJ’s I was hoping for a lower priced dup. No such luck. It is an effective oil-based cleanser for taking off foundation and powder, leaving my skin very soft. However, it’s also got a lot of volatile fragrant oils that are extremely irritating to the eyes. When I buy an oil based cleanser, I buy it with the expectation it’s going to help me take off my eye makeup along with the other makeup, and I think TJ’s knows many women feel this way because they neglected to put anything on the packaging warning about eye irritants. This one’s a pass for me. I will finish up this bottle, and I can gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a cleanser to take off foundation without stripping your skin, but if you’re looking for a cleanser that can also gently remove eye makeup, this one ain’t it.

I really like the Clinique Take the Day off cleansing balm. I went through two containers and I read about this Burt’s Bees Cleansing oil and for the price I had to try it. I was a bit nervous to try this because I am allergic to Burt’s Bees lip balms. I tried this because of the price and that this is an oil. Clinique Take the Day off is easier to scoop out into your hand, but I find that sometimes that getting my waterproof mascara off, Clinique struggles. Then I purchased the Clinique Take the Day off for eyes and still the waterproof mascara did not come off. This gets expensive, Burt’s Bees I can use on the entire face, neck, and eyes.
The pump is nice with the locking device so if you had to travel with it, you can without the product spilling out. I like that. The product is an oil, so make sure to pump into your hands and cup them or the product will run out. I will use one pump and then rub into both hands and then rub into the entire face and eyes. This stuff is better than Clinique because it removes all my makeup… even waterproof mascara. I will apply this all over my face to remove makeup and then I will sweep the excess into the roots to ends of my hair. My hair feels nice.
I use Neutrogena acne wash after this product so I have not noticed any breakouts and/or issues using this. This product can be a bit drying on the skin in the winter. After removing makeup, washing my face, I will apply moisturizer to put hydration back into the face.
Here is the weirdest awesome side affect of this product. I have been using this for over a month. I noticed that my eyelashes have gotten longer and fuller. Since I sweep this through my hair, I am wondering if my hair will get fuller. Will update later.

At the end of last year, I had switched out my facial regime with a new one from Paula’s Choice. My skin was looking absolutely amazing and I was sure I had finally found my HG routine. Fast forward to me wanting to try out the double cleanse method using an oil since I had heard such good things about it. I ended up with cystic acne all over my chin and cheeks. I started taking things out of the Paula’s Choice line thinking maybe I was having a reaction to something there. Nothing was working and my skin had never looked worse. Well, I ended up running out of the Burt’s Bees cleanser so I just stuck with the PC cleanser. Lo and behold, my skin completely cleared up and began looking good again. I ended up adding back and using the PC regime as recommended and have had zero issues since cutting out the Burt’s Bees. Never again….shame on me for not researching ingredients as I now see that Burt’s Bees contains coconut oil, which is a known to be highly comedogenic. I wish I had just left my routine alone to begin with….now I have to deal with the scarring left behind from all the cystic acne. I would not recommend this cleanser to anyone.

Way, way too drying. I wouldn’t use this on the eye area – it says not to on the bottle – so I’m reviewing this for how it performs on the rest of my face. My skin feels so stripped after this. Probably a good choice for very oily skin, but for me this gets a pass. I wanted to keep using it, but at this point I feel like it’s been a couple of months and I got my money’s worth. This product is very potent; half a pump is plenty for the whole face. So, in that respect, it’s good value.

I found I prefer oils (or balms) that emulsify to that milky white then rinses off than the warm washcloth take-off technique. That being said, I was excited to find the TJ’s oil on a recent grocery run and with the price, the oils list, and the emulsifying description, it was an obvious go.

• Texture is on the thick side, which is fine but I prefer a thinner oil because the slip allows for a nicer facial massage while I cleanse.
• There’s a strong scent. Overall the floral notes are pleasant, it is very strong and I focus on the smell during cleansing. Possibly an irritant to those sensitive to added fragrance.
• Eye irritant. After using many oils and balms to take, “the day off my face”, I was shocked how this oil irritated my eyes. Stinging and watering was unexpected when one of the “pros” of using cleansing oils is the removal of ALL eye makeup (waterproof and non-).
• Very little milk-white emulsion when I added water. Also, did not rinse off as well as I expected. There was a heavy residue left on my face I would expect from a wipe off balm, not from a rinse off oil.
It did break down the sunscreen, the foundation, and waterproof eye makeup I regularly wore. However, I gave up after 4 nights of use because I was displeased overall with the product due to the points above. Though I could’ve returned it to TJ’s (they have a great return policy), because I apply all my makeup using my fingers, I keep the bottle at my sink to double cleanse my hands after the makeup routine — the “good stuff” then is saved for my face.

It’s fine, leaves my skin soft and even toned. Doesn’t make my skin red at all, even followed by foaming gel cleanser. This is unusual for me.
Doesn’t emulsify, or remove my mascara very well. Origins cream to oil cleanser does those things well, but is expensive.
Don’t know if iwill repurchase, but will definitely use up the bottle.
Ialways follow with second cleanser.
**Update**
I found a way to use this that i really like. First i massage one pump of the Origins cream to oil (love, $$ ????) all over my face, then i concentrate on removing my non-waterproof mascara.
Once i can tell that the mascara is broken down, I then add 1 pump of the Trader Joe’s oil, massage a bit, and rinse.
Follow with second cleanser (Cosmetea gel, currently. Rose & something, it smells great and does not stip or irritate my skin)
