Went on too “cakey” 🙁 + didn’t give me that dewy finish I want! Ended up returning the product

I did not care for this BB creme. I knew right away I did not like the light version because it is very light/ pasty in color & did not spread easily over my skin. So yes, this is a very thick consistency. Too bad, because I love Derma E’s other products!

This is my holy grail for skin care! For starters, I am a very light skinned red-head. I use the light tint which blends out to match my skin tone perfectly! My face is slightly darker than my neck, so it is very hard to find a product that can adequately match both shades, yet this product does it. I am not a girl that likes thick-cakey foundations, so the amount of coverage that this product provides is absolutely perfect! It evens out my skin tone, and brightens my face without making it look like I have any make-up on at all. This does not do much to cover blemishes or dark circles, but that’s not the purpose of BB creams anyways. It feels very moisturizing, and the SPF is a must for a fair-skinned girl like me. Though it is a bit pricey, I found it for pretty cheap on Amazon, and stocked up on the product. Even with the price, I feel as though I am pying for a high-quality product as this is 100% vegan, sulfate free, and GMO free. So it doesn’t have any of those nasty chemicals that are found in most other products, which has helped clear up my breakouts. I cannot express how happy I am with this product, it is the best product I think I have ever used.

I got this in the light tint and that color does work for me. I am very fair and very cool toned. It comes out of the bottle looking super dark, but doesn’t appear that way on the skin. The coverage it gives is almost a bit too heavy, it is close to a foundation to me. I also found that the amount that comes out with one pump is way too much, half a pump works for me. I do like the ingredients and it seems to be improving my rosacea a bit. Can’t get enough sunblock in my opinion, so I’m happy to have that in it too!

Just OK, not disappointing but not amazing either. It’s one of those BB Creams that just seems like glorified tinted moisturizer at the end of the day. Was sheer coverage, basically evened out skin tone and made everything look a little more smooth (like a tinted moisturizer). I did not have any issue with it appearing grey on my skin, though I did set it with a matte powder that had pigment to it and that may have helped the color. I think I prefer Clinique’s tinted moisturizer – though I’m not fond of their color selection, they have a wider diversity of shades available and never broke me out when I sampled it last summer.

I am actually reviewing the Medium tint, which I love! But first I will provide a review for the Light tint, which is beyond awful!
I have tried quite few BB creams but I wanted to switch to a natural one. Usually with bb’s and tinted moisturizers there are only two or three sheer shades and I have fair skin so I always get the lightest tint, so when I bought this I didn’t even bother to try the darker option. MISTAKE. I can’t imagine ANYONE having skin light enough for the light tint — it’s literally grey on your skin. I even made my super fair redhead friend try it and it made her look equally grey. You will have to be ultra cool-toned and very very fair for it. It also settles into your every pore and fine line in an awful cakey way because it is too thick and not moisturizing or creamy at all on your face. It’s definitely too dry for California. I would literally give this product a ZERO rating. I wouldn’t wear it if you paid me. I was also looking forward to the pump packaging and it didn’t work. I have to pump as hard as I can about 5 times, un-jam the pump every time, and eventually a tiny tiny dot comes out. I think this is also because it’s too thick.
That being said, I went back and tried the medium tint and it was a totally different story!! The formula feels completely different. The pump works great, the product is thinner, super moisturizing, soaks in great, and provides sheer coverage. It looks dark when you first pump it out but trust me it rubs in and lightens up. The coverage might be too sheer for some people — definitely doesn’t provide the coverage of my other bb favorite, L’Oreal Youth Code. For the price ($40/2oz) I’m not sure if I like it better than Youth Code ($13/2.5oz) — it does have a more even coverage as far as fine lines and not settling into them goes, but that’s probably because it’s much more sheer. I also like the high spf and the quality ingredients. It also doesn’t have the light flowery fragrance that I love so much about Youth Code, but I know some people are into the unscented thing. I think you can find it online for about $25 and I would be very satisfied with that price point.
