Love this product. It has become part of my routine. The color is perfect on my tanned to deep skin and looks amazing in the summer over light coverage foundation and no contouring and such. It is definitely long lasting and stays pretty all day. However, with oily skin, I have to blot a couple of times a day but this does not affect the blush. Either way, it definitely is one of my all time favorites.

I would call this a matte slightly darker peach coral color. This is my favorite of the Instain blushes as it is matte, and a true peach color that works well for my medium skin tone. It is long lasting and I would recommend for light to dark skin tones. It is a rich smooth formula it has a neutral undertone that I appreciate since alot of peach blushes tend to have cooler undertones.

I have three blushes from The Balm. This one has a nice color and it doesn’t have glitter. From the appearance it might look too orange but the color is actually natural coral. Not too orange for me. The amount you need to take from this blush is little, super pigmented. When I tried it the first time I apply like I usually do with my other balm blushes and the orange became too prominent so I need to cover it up many times with loose powder. Unlike many super pigmented product that hard to remove, this one is easily to remove with make up remover.
The packaging is like the other balm product, it has mirror and cardboard like texture with magnet. I like the appearance of this product,looks like a little magazine 🙂

I purchased four of theBalm Instain blushes when they were released years ago. Sadly, despite all of the hype, they had been sitting in my collection relatively unused until only recently.
The GOOD… I love the packaging which is very cute and compact. The packaging is clearly labeled on the side for perfect storage. The magnetic closure holds the cardboard packing closed tightly for travel. The name and rumors about this staining blush are not a hoax; this truly is a long lasting blush. I have applied this at the beginning of a work day and found it still applied at the end. I have experienced a blush that lasts, never mind for hours upon hours.
The BAD… The blushes are only available in matte formulations, some with micro glitter. While the micro glitter doesn’t migrate around the face, those who like an over the top luminous blush or one heavy with glitter will need to look elsewhere.
The UGLY… Theses blushes do stain which, while it doesn’t last past a face wash, can be hard to blend and can be bold. I use a duo fiber brush and lightly tap it in to ensure I don’t end up looking like a clown.
SWISS DOT… I love this colour. This is a matte blush in an adobe red colour. I love to use this lightly on the cheeks and I believe this would work for all skin tones.

I’m not gonna lie: The packaging made me buy this! It’s both cute and the perfect size for travel in a small makeup bag. The color is OK. It’s pretty and nice, but I can easily find dupes for this at a lower price point. But at the same time I like how compact this is and how large the pan is! I also love how the balm is cruelty free. Will try more of this brand for sure!!

This blush may seem a bit expensive for a brand that was dropped by Sephora and sold at Kohl’s instead, but you get a generous amount of blush that lasts forever as you only need to use a tiny bit to get a full wash of color. This particular color wasn’t really one I liked very much, sadly. It’s an orangey coral matte and I find that coral and orange as a general rule just don’t work well for me. As for the formula, it’s not quite stain-like so I’m not sure I understand the name. It wore off my cheeks a bit unevenly throughout the day and looked a bit blotchy and I suspect my oily skin may be to blame, so maybe it’s not the best product for my skin type. Also, the cardboard packaging is a bit flimsy and definitely starts to get tattered long before the product starts running out. Very cute, but not practical.

I try to stay away from orange-y/coral products since they don’t work with my skintone.
I have a love/hate relationship with the In-Stain blushes because they’re GORGEOUS but I have a hard time blending them out.
This shade looks great on the skin – it’s super natural and not as scary on the cheeks as it looks in the pan. It’s matte but it has a subtle glow from within.

I was feeling blue one day and my friend ran out and bought this for me and I’m so happy and thankful that she did because this is my holy grail blush. The packaging is very sleek and compact and it comes with a large mirror which I highly appreciate because it makes it easy to just throw in the purse for later touch-ups which are usually unnecessary because this blush lasts all day and night and that for a blush is a first for me. I love the color so much because it gives my NW20 skin a nice and healthy color. The formulation is out of this world! It’s so highly pigmented that my brush barely even touches the product and I get a decent amount of product and pigmentation. It’s so easy to blend so if you mess it up and add more blush in places than others, you can fix it and blend it all out and it would look absolutely beautiful. I don’t see myself running out of this in the next decade because you get a ton of product but if I do lose it then I’ll run out and buy it immediately without a second thought.

This is a blush that frankly surprised me. I usually shy away from anything in the peach/coral family as they don’t normally suit my skin tone or my personal style whatsoever. Lovely on other people but not for me.
I’m a fair-skinned, unambiguously blue-toned and blue-eyed, red lipstick-wearing kinda gal, whose wardrobe consists almost entirely of stuff that’s either red, navy blue, denim, black or white. Sometimes I’ll throw in turquoise or purple. Lots of stripes and polka dots in there too. Straightforward but strong colors and patterns; nothing muddy or warm. A lot modern, a little retro and a tiny bit of old school Hollywood glamour. That’s my style.
Coral blush…just seems weird. Especially with red lipstick. Not gonna work. No way! And normally, that’s absolutely true. Every time an SA has tried to push something coral (or peach) on me, I was just, nope. Not happening. Not me, not my style. Thanks but no thanks :/.
THIS coral is a weird little beast. It’s more on the pink-toned reddish side of things than most, more muted and burnt than sun-kissed. Think Downton Abbey, not California, I guess? Also, I have no idea why it’s called Swiss Dot!
Anyway, Swiss Dot actually works for me. It goes surprisingly well with red lipstick (and berry-toned ones as well). I don’t fully understand how or why it works, but it does, and I’ve been getting lots of compliments since I starting wearing the combo.
It’s an unconventional pairing (I think most people would be inclined to wear this blush with a much lighter and/or warmer lip color or something on the MLBB (“my lips but better”) side of things and that would look great too!), but it’s actually quite lovely in practice and I seem to be able to get away with it :).
As for the quality of the blush itself, it’s perfectly matte and also very long-wearing. I mixed in a little bit of another blush the other day and that one disappeared while this one stayed. So happy with the quality and lasting power of this that I’m planning on getting TheBalm’s Instain Toile next.

In an earnest attempt to really USE the makeup that I purchase, I made an easy commitment to use my Instain Blushes almost exclusively all summer long. I own Toile, Argyle and Swiss Dot, using Argyle the most because by applying my bronzer I can keep this looking like a bright pink or give it a warmer look by applying bronzer lightly over Argyle on my cheeks. Swiss Dot is my most recent choice because often I wear corals and, being a makeup addict, I had to have an Instain Blush in a warmer shade to go with my other, cooler shades (you know how it is!). I love these blushes, have no complaints about fallout or packaging (actually love the packaging – SO easy and quick to flip open to apply). And so very pigmented as well, not to mention the long-lasting application. But I have to say, I would not repurchase. Swiss Dot is beautiful BUT . . . I was surprised at its murky shade. This is the shade of the DARK side of the peach, not the ripe fresh color one expects with a peach shade! Not what I wanted, not what I hoped for; I did research the shade online but HAD to have a peach Instain so I bought it and hoped for the best. I find that instead of this, I reach for a brighter peach/coral blush, such as PF’s Happy Booster in Warm. I wish TheBalm would make an Instain Blush in a brighter peach/coral! I even wrote the company and told them so. I work under old library lighting and brighter colored blushes survive under this type of lighting; warm and/or murky shades such as Swiss Dot (and lots of plum shades) suffer under my work lights. One thing that I do to make this color work is first apply my BELOVED Bonne Bell Gel Blush in Peach first on the highest part of my cheek apples before my mineral foundation, then bronzer/contour and lastly, Swiss Dot. It works . . . but still I want that brighter peach shade. Especially at my age, I need that (dreadfully overused but so descriptive) POP of color to look fresh and healthy. We’ll see if TheBalm expands their Instain shade selection in 2015. That would be fabulous.
