   Contains 10% L-Asorbic Vitamin C concentration, packaged in a glass jar with 30 capsules so basically a one month supply if only applying once a day. Pretty pricey when you break it down into a per application cost. The capsules are quite sturdy/thick and opaque in color to protect the efficacy of the vitamin C. The serum is much thicker than I thought it would be. It feels very silky and smoothing on the skin, like a dimethicone primer feels.

   The first time I used this my daytime moisturizer (Embryolisse) seemed to just sit on top of this and not penetrate my skin as usual so I’m not sure if the primer is acting like a barrier for other products. I used Pixi Rose Flash Balm over it at night and this made the products pill up terribly if I so much as touched my face after application. I thought since they both have a silicone feel they must not play well together. I tried it again the following night with about a 30 minute delay before using the Rose Flash Balm and didn’t seem to have any issue with pilling as before. So this was how I used the remaining capsules.

   I really liked the convenience of using one capsule per application and I like how soft and velvety my skin felt after applying the serum. There was a slight tingling on my skin so I know that the vitamin C was definitely still “active”. When I calculate the cost of these capsules it would run me approx $400 CAD per year and that’s a lot for a vitamin C serum when you get right down to it. I’m all for investing in quality skin care but I’m not convinced the price supports the effectiveness of this product. Especially when this is but ONE step in my overall skincare routine. I might still splurge on these on occasion when they are on sale because I do enjoy using them.

   I bought NeoStrata Vitamin C Concentrate at Shoppers Drug Mart on sale and the cosmetician gave me a full-size sample of NeoStrata’s Foaming Face Water. Downside is I use one capsule every night and there’s only 30 in the jar. I’m almost at end of 1st jar, so will probably buy again, but I’m also going to research other options. It’s easy to twist the end of the capsule off and squeeze it out. It glides on nicely and is spreadable. I’ve already begun to see fading in sunspots and overall nicer texture so I recommend giving it a try.

   I love capsules, so easy to use, I find you must keep the cover on the jar or they will dry out a bit and they will harden making it difficult to open. I like that this is 10% vit c, and after my skin gets used to this, I can move on to the one with 20% vitamin C. I find this much more hydrating than the vitamin C serums I’m use to. I would prefer it was thinner, and I find one capsule is barely enough to cover my skin and neck – maybe that is because my skin is super dry? I use this over my glycolic 5% smoothing cream, before my foundation primer in the morning.

   30ml of 10% Vitamin C serum packaged in 30 individual capsules. That’s great!
   I have finally managed to put together a well rounded skincare routine, but as a male I also like to keep it nice and simple. Not only I’d rather not waste time, but more products tend to pile and become visible.

   Prior to this I have used Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate which is similar, but this is better. The texture is smoother, more transparent and does not appear white. It is also much cheaper if you get it at Shoppers Drug Mart with a 20x on Optimum points when they also have the occasional 30% off on all Neostrata products.

   I apply this around my eyes before sunscreen and after my BHA exfoliant. It provides additional sun protection. Since I only apply a small amount, I like the individial capsules. With Kiehl’s, I’d basically just be clearing the nozzle each time. So, I just cut a small corner of a new capsule, take the amount I need, then put it down on a small tray of Vaseline face down. It seals well the opening and I can get up to 4 individual uses from each one. The serum remains stable and each capsule is like opening a brand new product.

   I find this burns my skin so I use a totally different serum first, then put the vitaminC over top, I find it much less irritating this way.
   I also find that for a serum it is quite thick so I use it at night ONLY!!!

   This has a strange, slippery texture. It seems to cover your skin in a silck film, which makes me think it just sits on the surface and does not get absorbed like liquid vit c serums. It also makes other products you try to apply on top slide around and changes their color slightly. For example, my sunscreen is slightly streaky and gives more of a white cast when applied over this than over other serums.

   Overall, I’d say there are other vit c serums out there that are easier to use and also have a higher concentration than this so I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

   This product comes in capsule form and is meant to be used like a serum. I initially bought this because I heard that it was good for improving the appearance of hyperpigmentation/melasma (because of the 10% high-potency vitamin C, also known as L-ascorbic acid). The first batch I bought I only used every other day at nights only because I was afraid it would temporarily darken my skin, cause redness/irritation, etc. Now that I’ve built up a tolerance for it (about 2.5 months), the second batch I bought I have been using twice a day, every other day. I think the package says to use it morning and night everyday but I heard that it is better to apply any vitamin c serum only every other day. As far as any improvement in my hyperpigmentation/melasma, I have yet to notice any significant difference – I continue to use it because I usually give skincare products 3 months to “work its magic” before deciding if it actually doing anything for me. However, the serum does make my skin feel soft and smooth after applying to my face and neck, it hasn’t broken me out, and although it’s pricey, the product will last a few months (depending on how often you use it). A bad point is that you have to cut open the capsule to get all the product out.

   I will update again after finishing the second batch.
