No I didnt spend $385 for this serum. Instead I got a GWP tube of this. Ive only used it a few times so far (and have used it AM and PM), and I am only using a pea-sized amount or less in order to make it last. Its not as silicone-y as most serums. Its more like a light lotion. It has a distinctive scent, I guess that is the vanilla. Its not a sweet scent, but its more “earthy”, but by no means a “hippy” scent. Its nice. It spreads and absorbs beautifully, and gives my skin a nice glow. My skin get easily blotchy, especially near blemishes, and this was very soothing, I didnt have any irritation (or breakouts) so far. In fact, it seemed to calm my skin down and take away some redness. Dont get this near your eyes, or on your lashes, it might sting if in your eye (I have very sensitive eyes when it comes to products). Im hoping my little sample of gold will last me long enough to get more of a feel for this. I think the price for the full size is provocative to say the least. I wish I had that kind of money. But for now I will relish my sample tube while I can. It really does make my skin look and feel fabulous, though. Its lighter-feeling than EL Idealist, and much less silicone-y feeling, and I much prefer it over the Idealist. I think this is the most luxurious product Ive ever used, and the product itself certainly lives up to the hype. As to whether it will do anything for wrinkles… I really doubt it. But who cares about wrinkles when your skin feels and looks this nice?

As far as a hydrating serum I think it was pretty good, however for $385 I was expecting more visible results. I used this along with the sublimage cream and noticed absolutely no difference in my skin.

EDIT 3/29/07: Heads up, ladies. I purchased this product from Neiman Marcus Online AND THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT RETURNS OR EXCHANGES.
Like the first reviewer, I was using the Guerlain products. I think they are good but I really wasn’t seeing a lot that I didn’t see with other serums. In fact, I’d really dropped the idea of even using a serum because I wasn’t seeing any added benefits. After using a generous trial size of the Sublimage creme, I ordered both the creme and the serum.
First, you should know that the packaging is just a knockout. Beautiful boxes and heavy glass containers that have the ability to sit in the bottom of the box on a dressing table if you like to display your products. The creme includes a spatula and the jar is sealed and requires pulling off a foil strip. Underneath is the usual plastic “sub-lid” that you see with many jars.
These are really expensive products but they do look visibly different on the skin: glowing, not greasy. Pores appear smaller (of course, they’re not!) and you can use much less foundation because the skin looks good without extra help. In the end, I don’t know what to expect. I have really sensitive skin (very fair) with redness on cheeks, nose, and chin. I’m not really seeing less redness, just very smooth texture. I’m going to give this a try on the backs of my hands because they really need help that hand cream and paraffin just can’t conquer.
I have pretty low expectations of products: I’m simply looking for a set of products that clean without drying (they all say they do but we know better, don’t we?!) and something that creates smooth skin and minimizes the look of wrinkles. Shouldn’t be a tall order but having just dropped some $700…
p.s. The scent is fabulous – that great bourbon-y vanilla – not sweet just potent. Oh, and there is an eye creme as well.
If all of this has any appeal to you, you might give these a try. (I kept the receipt!) And I expect the generous sizes to last a good year.
