A couple weeks ago I saw the new brand Versed at just one of my local Target stores. The brand looks affordable, decently packaged, as well as fragrance free. I had to pick up a few of their products to see what they were like and how the brand performed. Naturally, I started out with the Versed Stroke of Brilliance Brightening Serum, which is a licorice and Vitamin C based serum.
This “serum” doesn’t feel like your typical serum. It has an almost jelly texture to it, and a few drops are enough to fully cover your entire face. The Stroke of Brilliance Serum absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a too sticky finish. This serum worked well under my moisturizer and also under my typical sunscreens. The only slight issue I had with the texture was on days I used a thicker mineral sunscreen, it did pill a touch. I’m not too upset by that because I did have several layers of products on and many vitamin c serums can pill (especially those with a more thicker gel texture as opposed to those with a more watery or oily texture).
So far I’m enjoying this affordable serum, although I do have a few concerns regarding the brand. Not all the products in the Versed lineup are necessarily the deal they might look like. One I noticed insantly was the Vitamin C Powder, which cost $19.99. If you check out The Ordinary’s or Good Molecules’ vitamin c powder they are at least half the price. So for less money you can pick up the vitamin c powder from some more “prestige” brands, and also will have the option of returning it if you need to.
