I bought this quite some time ago, used it for a few days and thought it might be breaking me out so tucked it away in a drawer where it sat unused. Fast forward to a few months ago when I developed a patch of dry itchy eczema on my shin and was looking for something to help that. I pulled out this PC HA booster, applied a drop or two and then topped it with a drop of SIBU sea buckthorn oil (another product I’d bought but not really used much). I was shocked to find the eczema completely healed less than a day later after just the one application of these two products!
Being as I suffer from very dehydrated rosacea prone skin, I decided to give the HA Booster another go on my face, this time via split face test so I could more closely observe its effects. After a full month of use, I can say with confidence that this product doesn’t cause (me) breakouts and does increase the hydration levels of my skin. Each night, I used two drops for half my face (so equivalent of 4 drops for full face) on freshly cleansed skin and followed up with my Estee Lauder ANR serum. The booster is quite thick out of the bottle and the dropper sometimes doesn’t pick up much product (will be interesting when I get towards the bottom of the bottle). I could see mixing this with a variety of products to further boost hydration and I’m interested to try it under something more occlusive such as the sea buckthorn oil once I determine this particular oil doesn’t cause any issues on my facial skin (testing it now).
This isn’t the least expensive product and I do plan to try a Hada Labo HA product for comparison given the lower price point of the latter. That said, a little goes a long way with the PC Booster so I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad value and it does have clear hydrating and healing benefits for the skin. I will repurchase until or unless I find a better HA product.

This is a very viscous liquid in a dropper bottle. It feels a bit oily but absorbs quickly. I does work well mixed into moisturizers. It makes my skin raw and irritated so I can’t use it every night but the next morning my skin does look more hydrated. In the end, it’s too expensive and too finicky to be worth the extra step in my skin care routine.

Note: Paula’s Choice has reformulated the packaging from what is shown here due to complaints about difficulty getting product out of the bottle. I have the “old” bottle (the one shown here) and had no trouble. The secret is to squeeze the dropper while in the solution and let it sit there for a few seconds. I imagine it will be difficult to get the last of the product out of the bottle, but I haven’t gotten there yet. Anyway, I understand not everyone’s skin reacts well to hyaluronic acid, but mine loves it, which is good because I have dry, dehydrated skin due to a medication I take. I also live in the humid South, so HA is perfect for me. I find it works best to mix it in with a facial oil or moisturizer. PC’s is not the cheapest anymore, but it works well with my skin and is always free of irritating ingredients and fragrances.

Gahhhh! This is a GREAT product, trapped in a LOUSY bottle. The dropper is terrible to use. It also behaves as if there’s no product in the bottle -even when freshly opened. I end up just tapping it out onto my fingers. I gave up on this because of the awful application method, but came crawling back after realising it softened and hydrated my skin. It’s a clear, odourless, watery jelly that absorbs fairly quickly into the skin. I really love that it seems to make my always dry and sensitive skin feel more hydrated (I hope it’s not a placebo!). I chuck this on my face after a shower with 4 other PC products (plus suncreen!) so I can’t confirm which is the hydrating culprit. I do notice if this is missing from my regime, my skin doesn’t feels soft so it must be doing something. There’s a lot of science backing up the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid in improving skin and at my age I need all the help I can get! Whereas I dropped a lot of other PC products, this one is on my permanent repurchase list. I only wish they’d fix the packaging. The dropper needs to go!

I love this! I love how plump and hydrated my skin feels after I put this on. My makeup glides on easily as well. I’m addicted. This has a very nice clear semi-gel like texture (a tad bit runnier than a gel). It absorbs nicely into my skin. I put my moisturizer almost immediately. I can’t tell if it provides any permanent changes or improvements to my skin but the immediate results are fantastic. I don’t like the dropper dispenser as when you apply this to your face and then try to close the bottle your fingers are slippery and few times I almost dropped it. The only other thing I dislike is the inconvenience of having to order it online, otherwise amazing product. It is scent free.

I have a very strong feeling that- for whatever reason- this product is causing me to break out. I have not had large, lump-sized, painful, pimples in years- not until I started using this at night over my 2% BHA treatment. Maybe I am using it wrong? I love Paula’s Choice skincare products (most) and have been using them for over a decade now. It is always surprising when one of her products doesn’t deliver for me, but this one definitely falls into that category. I am going to discontinue using this and see if my new-found adult acne becomes dormant again.

I think this is a great product especially if you live in a humid weather like i do. I have acne prone and oily skin and i didn’t break out from using this product. It makes my acne marks go away too! Highly recommended for friends who have acne prone and oily skin!! it makes your skin soo smooth and hydrated and not a greasy ball.

Boy, am I glad I didn’t pay for this, a 3ml. GWP size. Used alone after cleansing, it is not moisturizing enough; top it with a moisturizer, yes, but then my moisturizer does the job by itself already. All the talk about hyaluronic acid holds its so many hundred of times its weigh with water, perhaps. but applied on top of the skin, it either sucks the moisture in the air (assuming the relative humidity is high) or from the skin, making it more dry, theoretical speaking. How can it “plump” fine lines from that ?
This is C$45 for a tiny 0.67 oz !!!
The best I like, its not sticky.

I didn’t like this booster. It balls up under my sunscreen and it feels tacky on my skin. I wouldn’t repurchase.
