I have hypersensitive, congested, oily, acne-prone skin with mild redness that gets way worse with irritation. Normally my acne clears up just fine with Benzoyl Peroxide but I didn’t like the staining or drying factor. Even though my skin is really oily and congested my skin is too sensitive for really stripping products. This lotion is so lightweight and leaves my skin feeling matte but not stripped or dry. At the end of the day my acne is clearing up and soft skin is left behind. I don’t combine this with any other moisturizer because I don’t need to but someone with dryer acne-prone skin may want to.

It’s a bit drying but it does work within 4 days on me

I love it no breakouts, I’ve been using for 3 years, no breakouts no dryness, the bad thing is no SPF, have to wear make up for outdoors. Still using anyway. Iight weight, absobs fast, no odor.

So good! Really helps unclogging my pores and bringing to the surface the deep cystic (hormonal) acne that I tend to suffer from. It brings the gunk up and once it comes to a head (within a day or two I notice the bacteria/pus coming up) I’ll tend to them with a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment to penetrate the pore and kill the bacteria. Picking is the absolute worst thing you can do for cystic acne so it’s a great product to add to my regime whenever I get any of those flares ups. I also suffer from sebaceous filaments and it loosens up those suckers too. Def recommend to anyone with oily skin and any kind of acne ????

I think this product good for oily skin, those who are facing the problem of blackheads, whiteheads and acnes hidden under skin.
My face after a few day supply 2 times per day had improved patency: less oil, reducing acne and smoother…
If you have pimples it’s not working.

There are a few Neutrogena products I absolutely love and cannot live without- but my experiences with Neutrogena in general are like a roller coaster! Either the products are outstanding, completely useless, or scary bad. But I still think Neutrogena is one of the better skincare brands you can find virtually anywhere- and I WANT to like their products because the prices are reasonable, and the products that are good are REALLY good.
Unfortunately, my experience with this product falls into the “scary bad” category. I tried to add this to my skincare routine (for acne) only after using glycolic acid pads that contain a small amount of salicylic acid almost daily for 3-4 weeks first. I had no dryness/irritation issues using the pads. I only applied this lotion to the non-sensitive parts of my face that usually tolerate anything…it didn’t hurt when I put it on, in fact it felt kind of good, cooling and refreshing.
Imagine my horror when I woke up to burned/dark skin everywhere I applied it. Not cute! The burned/dark skin did eventually peel off (in like 3 days) but until that happened it was UNSIGHTLY, and uncoverable with make-up, and I had to stop using everything else I normally use on a daily basis (except Cerave lotion and cleanser).
“Back in the day” before I understood how important moisturizing is for acne prone skin, I experienced some dryness, irritation, and mild peeling from some acne medications. But I would describe what happened here as more like a chemical burn or something. When I looked online at pictures of people who had 20% salicylic acid peels- THAT is more similar to what the areas I used this on looked like but this only has 2% salicylic acid.
It goes without saying, I will not use this again!!! Maybe I need to try a lotion with only 1% or .5% salicylic acid. But this was an awful experience.

I was really scared to switch my face regimen because I have developed sensitive skin since I’ve turned 30 and am having a reaction to a cortisone injection that’s caused severe acne all over my face. Every new product I’ve tried has made it worse temporarily besides my tried and true aveeno clear skin products. However, they weren’t doing anything to clear it up, just not making it worse. I bit the bullet and tried the Rapid Clear face scrub and this stuff and wow! Usually after a big flare the skin dries out and flakes off everywhere making it impossible to cover with makeup. This is the first time it hasn’t done that. This stuff really calms the angry red mess immediately and now after 2 days of use 2x/day all I see is small pinkish spots where the acne was! I am so hopeful about this product line. We’ll see if it prevents new flares now but if so it’s totally my holy grail! Thanks neutrogena!

Didn’t notice this product giving me a significant reduction in breakouts, but I didn’t break out more using this product. I would apply on pimples and it wouldn’t go away using this product. Product contains 1% salicylic acid which is supposed to prevent blackheads/clogged pores.
Pros: moisturizing and didn’t dry my skin out. prevented more breakouts perhaps? didn’t break me out more. affordable and easy to use dispense pump as it stands upside down.
Cons: didn’t reduce my existing acne/breakouts. didn’t do anything for blackheads/clogged pores.
My skin type: combination/oily. Break out with a new pimple everyday, blackheads/clogged pores on t-zone, but I do not have major breakouts and skin is pretty clear. Occasional pustule/cyst.

I have extremely dry, acne prone skin. I am a licensed esthetician but I don’t have the time to allow my skin to peel in my daily life and spot-treating never works with my skin.
My skin had been a war zone recently from horomal stress and diet. I’ve nevre had acne flare up as badly as it has recently! No matter what I did to change it, nothing would happen. Light peels just werent cutting it alone. In an act of desperation to get my skin under control, I picked this up at Ulta with no hope that it would work.
To my surprise (and I’m telling you… SURPRISE) the next day my acne went down dramatically. I kept using it and now have been for maybe 2 weeks and I only have maybe one pustule on my chin and everything else has cleared up.
If your skin is dry like mine, I recommend cleansing with a gentle cleanser and then applying on dry skin. Allow it to dry and then layer your moisturizer on top of it. It works magically!
If you are suffering from bad acne, you can alternate between this and a moisturizer with more antibacterial properties like La Roche Posay carries.

Made me super shiny and did not help with blemishes.
