Clear gel that rubs in easily without a trace, teams well under makeup. Effective and seems to help heal blemishes faster. Strong scent of natural Tea Tree oil. I wouldn’t use it everyday as a primer as others suggest, because Tea Tree oil can be sensitising over time when used constantly. But I’m happy to use for blemishes and the occasional scratch (I have a kitty). Its cheap too, because you get 1 oz / 30 ml for the price of other 10 ml products. On my second tube now.

I use this as a foundation makeup primer. It’s kind of sticky and smells amazing (very natural). I’m not positive it’s doing anything for my hormonal acne but I am sure it’s not hurting it either. My skin responds to sulfur better than SA or BP. It’s kind of a pain to find in NYC and the health food stores can have outrageous prices so I order in 2’s online.

Nelson’s Acne gel really does work – it’s like “zit-be-gone” ina tube. Light gel, no scent, cooling and non irritating. RECOMMEND!

I’ve always had mild to moderate acne issues.
I went to the dermatologist and doled out plenty of money for harsh topical treatments. (My acne wasn’t severe enough for accutane or anything like that.) I went on hormonal birth control for a while, and that helped, but it made me a little crazy, and changes a whole bunch of things about the way your body works and responds to things. (I’m a hardcore coffee lover, and on hormonal birth control I couldn’t drink a single cup of coffee without having insane heart palpitations and bad anxiety- hormonal birth control changes the way your body synthesizes caffeine!)
Then I went to the spa. I spent plenty of money on facials, acid peels, microdermabrasion, etc. The peels helped a little (salicylic) but they’re expensive and a little uncomfortable, and your skin needs time to heal after those.
Add to this the hundreds of dollars I spent at Sephora trying everything the employees at Sephora recommended to me . . . yeah. It was frustrating.
Cue heavenly chior music. I found Nelson’s pure & clear acne gel, as well as the acne treatment tablets, the face wash, and the moisturizer. This stuff WORKS. This line- the whole line- works better than anything I’ve ever used on my face. I love it. I still get moderate breakouts around the time I ovulate or right before my period, but they’re so much better than they were. I love this entire line of products.
The gel is cooling and smells a little like tea tree oil, but it’s not overwhelming. It behaves beautifully on the skin and can easily be used under makeup – I thought the gel would roll up and pill like some makeup primers do, but it doesn’t. It’s cooling, and it does work really well. It’s not instant relief- if I have a few blemishes, they’re still there in the morning, but they’re so much smaller and less red and they really are few and far between. I think the face wash and the moisturizer help as well, and they’re also very gentle and pleasant. I also take the acne treatment tablets (sulfur 30c) and I really think they tie all of it together. They taste very mild and sweet and they truly have zero side effects.
I buy all of this on amazon or at my local health food store, and I plan to continue using this stuff forever. I absolutely love these products and they’ve made a huge, huge difference in my skin. And compared to the stuff I’ve purchased from sephora, the prices are really reasonable. I would highly recommend everything in the nelson’s pure & clear line to anyone struggling with mild to moderate acne.

I’ve used this for a week and my skin has become worse. I believe that this is the purging period since I’ve heard that it’s common in products that contain sulfur. I use it all over instead of a spot treatment because I have little whiteheads that would not come to the surface. I do not have cystic acne but I deal with hormonal breakouts. If you have hormonal acne, I would suggest taking a supplement such as borage seed oil or estroblocker (it’s expensive but regulates my hormones).
I’m going to continue to use this for at least 8 weeks since it’s received such great reviews. I would also recommend buying the tablets. I just bought them so I will see how the combination works. Don’t give up on a product if it makes you break out more, usually it’s a purging period which brings all the pimples that were forming to the surface causing more breakouts. It can occur up to 2-3 weeks. I’ve already purchased 4 more of these to have them on hand since the store I go to is always out of stock. I hope this review helps someone.

I have been using Nelsons acne gel for years now. It is definitely my HG acne treatment product and the ONLY thing I use to keep blemishes at bay. It calms every blemish really fast with no irritation to my sensitive skin. I can even use it near my eyes with no irritation. Any red bump (pimple, shaving rash, hive) I have on my face and body goes away quickly without leaving a mark when I use Nelsons acne gel. They better not discontinue it ever or I will cry! My husband tried it recently too and was amazed at how quickly it healed his blemishes- better than salicylic acid products. Easy to find at Whole Foods or Sprouts for $7.99. (BTW, I have fairly clear skin with occasional small pimples- not big breakouts or cystic acne. My skin is sensitive and can get easily irritated from using the wrong products.)

I have oily, very acne-prone skin that is not sensitive. I started buying this product about a year ago based on the reviews here and have gone through two tubes. This is available for about $6 at Whole Foods. I applied it twice a day after cleansing. This works very well under makeup and does not pill. However, for the better part of the past year, it stopped working for me. I toughed through breakouts and kept using this, but it seemed to have no effect on my angry, red and sometimes painful spots. After countless angry breakouts, I finally gave up on this. I recently started using Acne.org’s BP and AHA and so far that has been working much better for me and I haven’t gotten any new breakouts.

This really works. I don’t need this often, but keep it in the house in case either my husband or I have a breakout. I’m surprised that it works, but it does.

I have been using this product for a couple weeks now. I have very acne prone skin. Being a college student I really don’t have the extra money to spend on expensive prescriptions. I read the reviews on this product and bought it for 1.25 after using a $5 coupon. I love it! It has cleared my skin pretty well so far. Other reviews have complained about the stinging and smell. It stings a little for the first minute, but it is worth it! And I personally like the smell and my boyfriend does too. You really have nothing to lose using this product.

I’d been seeing a dermatologist for the past year. My acne cleared up tremendously and I decided that I could give up my prescription-based products thinking that my skin was healed. Big mistake because my cystic acne returned a month later returned after I stopped using the products. I didn’t (and still don’t) want to go back to expensive chemical-laden products. I read up on this product and decided to give it a try. Within hours of applying it to my pimples they began drying up. I’ve only been using it as a spot treatment but think it might work as an all-over preventive treatment as well.
The only reason I wouldn’t give this product 5 stars is because of the smell. It smells like tea tree oil, which has a strong medicinal smell. Thankfully the smell dissipates within 30 minutes or so. Overall, I love it!
