Well the plastic cover cap split within a week of owning, so I didn’t expect that to happen for this price product. Did I use the whole bottle? Yes. Would I buy it again over anything else? No.

I got a deluxe sample of this along with a Sephora order and, like all Algenist products that I’ve tried, it is really nice. My skin drank it up and there was no “break in period” (sometimes, I break out for a while when I switch products). It felt like an extra layer of moisture under my night cream. I also appreciated that it wasn’t fragranced and came in a small hygienic pump bottle. Although the deluxe sample was generous, it obviously wasn’t enough to note any wrinkle reduction, especially on my relatively wrinkle-free skin.
When Sephora first started carrying Algenist, it seemed like such a gimmicky luxury brand. Algae? Really? But, they’ve been promoted pretty heavily via Sephora weekly specials and I’m slowly coming around. Everything I’ve tried in the Algenist line has been really nice, and it’s clear that a lot of R&D goes into their products. I also like that they’re a biotech company that seems really obsessed with using plant matter as a renewable energy alternative. However, I still haven’t found anything in the line that I’d consider a keeper, although one of their sunscreens (UV defense fluid) came pretty close.
While I liked the Power Advanced Wrinkle Fighter Serum, I didn’t love it, and If I was in the market for a serum in the future, I probably wouldn’t repurchase at this price point. However, I will definitely continue to try products by Algenist. I like that they’re a “sciency” brand and I do think they’re on to something.
