   This serum uses 12% Ascorbyl Glucoside, in a sticky glycerin base, with citrus oils, and an sweet orange biscuit scent. This yellow runny gel absorbs quickly, leaving skin very sticky and shiny. Doesn’t irritate my sensitive oily combo skin. Doesn’t ball up under makeup as much as comparable The Ordinary 12% Ascorbyl Glucoside. The scent of vanilla biscuits and orange soda reminds me of sticky toddlers and lingers for hours. Maybe this appeals to Miranda Kerr as a mum of 3 young children under 5, but I personally found the scent really annoying.

   I’ve used it for several months and have not found it brightened my skin at all to reduce pigmentation and age spots. Doesn’t give my skin a “tingly” feeling like my Ascorbic Acid serums do…I wonder if it is effective at all. I see the reviewer before me doesn’t get many benefits from Ascorbyl Glucoside formulas either. Maybe skin needs the acid form of vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) to actually get results? Things that have worked for me previously include Ascorbic Acid serums (6 week shelf life), and “Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum Complexion Correcting” serum.

   Ascorbic acid is very effective at antioxidant protection + collagen boosting + fading hyperpigmentation. But it is very sensitive to light and air, so it becomes ineffective at around 6 weeks after production/opening. Hence the new Ascorbyl Glucoside form of vitamin C that Kora uses here. Its supposed to be a shelf stable answer that benefits shops AND skin. But it seems to me really a benefit designed allow shops and manufacturers to let old stock sit around on shelves for years and still be able to sell that product at high prices. It doesn’t seem to be a solution that actually benefits the customers skin in reality. Would not repurchase.

   Even though I’ve found several Vitamin C Serums that my skin loves, I still feel the need to try every new Vitamin C product that comes out!  I must be a glutton for punishment, LOL.  I was initially torn on the Kora Organics Noni Bright Vitamin C Serum, however the ingredients list helped me make my decision.  Although, for the steep price of $68, it should be amazing and I should absolutely love the serum.

   The Kora Organics Noni Bright Vitamin C Serum contains 12% ascorbyl glucoside, which is a water soluble form of vitamin c.  I have had better luck using other forms of vitamin c, especially with hyperpigmentation, however, ascorbyl glucoside still helps skin fight off pollution and free radical damage.  Kora Organics has also included ascorbic acid which is another good form of vitamin c.  For the rest of the good news, this serum applies nicely, absorbs quickly, and layers well with other products such as foundation and sunscreen.  

   My bigger concerns with the Noni Bright Vitamin C Serum is the amount of potassium hydroxide (lye) used, the amount of fragrant ingredients including citral, capsicum, and a small amount of denatured alcohol.  I feel like the Kora Organics Vitamin C matches every good beneficial ingredient with something that is potentially irritating.   The scent of this serum is strong- smells like mop and glo, very strong lemon scent, however, it does dissipate quickly.  This does have a lot of fragrance ingredients-orange peel, lemon peel, clary sage, citral, limonene, and linalool.  Overall, for the steep price tag I expect more brightening and less fragrance.  I wish Kora Organics would have focused on including more antioxidants and skin brightening ingredients as opposed to fragrance ingredients.  My video review can be seen here: s
