I have always loved the idea of using facial oils – shorter ingredient lists, less harmful ingredient, and usually the implication of more natural ingredients; to be used for massage, and doubling as a moisturizer for the face.
However, after trying a dozen of oils since a young age – jojoba (well, a wax, technically), almond, apricot kernel, rosehip seed, avocado, tamanu… and the list goes on! – I can say that all oils break me out. Even when my skin was at its driest, using even one or two drops of oil gave me clogs. I tried using them alone, adding them to my moisturizer, or using a blend as part of the oil cleansing method, but always those damn clogs.
So, needles to say, I had given up oils forever (unless as part of makeup or cosmetics – then I do not have the aforementioned problem). I do not know why I tried this or it even catched my attention. I guess my skin was lucklustre and had lost the glow of youth… Quite vary, I placed a drop at the back of my hand. The oil stayed on top for quite a long time, but I noticed, as I was walking around in that shop, that unlike e.g. L’Oreal’s Extraordinary Oil (another oil blend), this really sunk in, and made my skin so smooth and moisturized. The smell, a quite strong fruity and sweet, yet pleasant smell was lingering. Decided to take it home.
Boy, am I glad I did! Let me tell you, this oil is a real gem. Because it stays on the skin for quite long (might bother some), it allows for a (quicker) facial massage. Best of all, my skin is left amazingly smooth, glowing, and no clogged pores whatsoever! And this is true even when I have used many drops (would destroy my face with other oils).
I use this a few times a week – I guess you could use it daily as a moisturizer, but I am of the thought that your skin sort of saturates with the oils and daily use is not needed (and maybe better avoided). This also pairs well with serums underneath. The smell is strong, yes, but my skin which is usually so sensitive to perfume has never reacted to this oil.
To make another comparison – I have gotten samples of two of the more/most expensive oils/oil blends from L’Occitane. They cost many times more, but were not nearly as good as this.
It contains a total of 10 oils, as well as sea buckthorn and raspeberry (and some other ingredients, but doesn’t bother me).
