Got a rash and an itch as soon as I used it. Absolutely no effect. I have used other glycolic acid products with no issue so I know it’s not that. Do not recommend.

Liquid Gold ain’t all that Golden.
I’m sorry for this frank statement but this has to be one of the most overrated products in the cosmetics industry. There have been many many MANY brands that have utilised Gylcolic Acid successfully long before the Alpha H brand was even conceived.
This is a result of media hyperbole from Television Shopping Network customers, where this is often sold and your trinkled down somewhat middle of the road beauty parlour with so so cosmeceutical inclinations.
It’s not a bad product but it isn’t the best either, and certainly not liquid gold.
This contains a measly amount of only 5% Gylcolic Acid, maybe a star back in it’s heyday but certainly not now when there is an abundance of AHA products on the market, even at your local pharmacy for a fraction of the price.
This contains Alcohol as it’s second ingredient, it is used here to increase penetration of the actives but all it contains is AHA, Silk Amino proteins and Licorice extract. Not exactly a generous formula and for the price your paying you deserve better.
If you insist on using this reserve its’ use for your hardy elbows, knees and feet. This is not something I would want to be applying every second day as the instructions call for.
Many are loyal devotees to this product and have indeed shown fantastic results, I just simply believe it’s formula is a bit behind and possibly harmful. The formula need a desperate update and the removal of alcohol.
I would not be repurchasing this.
P.S Most of the Australian brand ALPHA H revolves around Gylcolic Acid, be sure you are not over doing the use of this AHA as most of the products in the line and your prescribed regimen will contain some amount of AHA. Many lines become too bombastic with their holy grail ingredient, this case Gylcolic Acid and so utilise it in every product to the detriment to your skin. Sometimes more is not better, one should approach AHA’s slowly and carefully, I’m afraid with this line you will be getting nothing but an AHA overload! ouch! not good……

Coming to 4th weeks using the product. As usual, I will always read up reviews, watching YouTube reviews and IG before purchasing any products. I used alternate days. Packaging and the smell not an issue for me. I have combination skin, oily on T-zone and forehead. I’m not sensitive to any products. On my 2nd weeks, after using this product on the alternate days, there was a small tiny faint red dots appeared on both cheeks. I thought must be the hot weather here and started to get itch on both cheeks. I did not change any of my facial wash neither my make-up. On positive notes, I can see my face getting brighter and glowing. I’m not sure whether the Alpha H liquid gold was the cause of the tiny faint red dot and itch. Well, will wait and see and will skip using it for a week.

I wrongly assumed this was just glorified water, alcohol, glycolic acid and licorice in a bottle – it is a VERY basic ingredients list, however, this small combination of ingredients all seems to work somehow. I use this on an evening straight after my toner has dried by applying with a cotton pad and then once dried I skip the night cream and just leave this on to work. Yes it does tingle, for me I managed to reduce this by gently patting the liquid on instead of swiping it over my face and neck.
It isn’t magic, if your skin is used to stronger concentrations of glycolic you could probably give this a miss (it’s only 5%). I find it just sufficient to refine my skin texture and give a subtle brightening effect yet without any kind of irritation. I have to stress the results were not overnight, it did take a full 1 week before I could visibly see a difference but considering how gentle it was on my skin, the wait was not an issue. very good as a spot treatment! I just apply a drop to any bump that appears and it calms it down literally overnight. Long term I wouldn’t use this due to the high alcohol content but every now and again this is perfect to use as a skin pick-me-up.

This has a noticeable effect as soon as I use it. I have used it after cleansing without a moisturizer on top and i have loaded up on serum, moisturizer and oil after. Each time I woke up my skin was noticeably smoother, brighter and pores were refined. It also helps get rid of pimples. I will purchase again and again.

Ok wow! So at first I wasn’t so sure but my seriously acne prone skin clears within a week of using.
This is what happens to me when I start using it every other day. I have gone on and off it because I ran out or I was travelling for long periods and didn’t bring it. This happens EVERY time I start back up again.
Day before. Skin is dull and a mess. Cystic acne on my jaw and tons of whiteheads and blackheads on my forehead. Pimples all over my face.
Morning after Day 1:
Not really any difference. Skin doesn’t look brighter. Spots are the same.
Morninng after day 3:
Not really any difference.
Morning after Day 5:
Skin starts looking a bit brighter. Notice that no new spots have come. Current pimples seem to be healing except whiteheads on forehead.
Morning after Day 7:
skin is noticably brighter and smoother. Make up applies so easily. All acne has healed and for once my jaw is smooth! Doesn’t have those big cystic acne!
Morning After Day 9:
It’s usually around this time that I start to get asked for ID to buy alcohol (I’m 40). Whiteheads and black heads on forehead are seriously reduced. Red acne scars seem reduced.
Hormonal acne around my period doesn’t appear as well.
This in conjunction with using paraben free vegan make up, cleansers and moisturisers has revolutionised my face (I like ren and Tarte). I have spent a fortune on doctors, medication, expensive lotions and potions etc and this is the most amazing thing which cured me and has given me so much extra condidence. I bought it for £20
It is a small bottle but you don’t need much so it lasts a while and it’s worth every penny.

Biggest waste of money in ny opinion!
In the first week I used this, I started breaking out like crazy. Kept using it in the hopes my skin was just purging. I spent a lot of money on this product so I kept trying for 2 MONTHS, changing the way I applied it, frequency, amount, etc. but my skin just kept breaking out. I have combination skin that is not sensitive.
I decided to stop using it for a week to see if it really was the product causing my crazy acne, or something else – and after just 3 days, most of the acne had already cleared. Fast forward a full week and everything is gone except for the acne scars this product had caused and left behind.
For what you pay, the packaging is also so cheap. You’d expect something nicer when it comes with a $60 price tag. The only improvement I saw with this is that it cleared what acne I had on my decollatage, but I didn’t pay $60 for that. Don’t believe the hype, there are much better products out there. I know that I for one won’t be touching this thing again.

I don’t just like this product: it is essential. I have extremely acne prone skin and I’ve put a lot of energy, time and money to control it. I am now at the point now where it a under control and although I know other products I used contributed to clearing my skin I would’ve never been able to do it without this product.
I pat it on my face every night with my hands (more intensive) and leave it to work its magic over night.
Pro: When I wake any redness, acne or blemishes I had the previous night is removed, reduced and lighter in colour. If you have open wounds (spots) it will sting a bit (alike a toner) but nothing remarkably painful. The smell is not offensive. The bottle is effective if your dropping it on a cotton pad.
Con: I can see why the price (for some) may seem unreasonable however is believe it is great value for money

Thiss is ok. It does brighten and help acne a bit but don’t waste your time…. There are better products on the market that do more. The Ren glycolic line is in the same price range and much nicer. Or if you have more money to spend look at natura bisse.

Love this product. I like to try alot of exfoliating products, but always come back to Liquid Gold. I have dry and dehydrated skin with a bit of redness though the T-zone. I use this about once a week at night and wake up to glowy, refreshed skin.
I don’t have any cons with this product – the bottle, application, and product itself are all great.
