Bought this serum when my regular go to brand was discontinued. Was looking for something to add to my routine which would give me a moisturizing boost and possibly even out my skin tone.
At first I really liked it – goes on smooth, only need a little bit, sinks in quickly and feels light as a feather.
Getting to the end of the bottle now and thinking about repurchasing and I have to wonder, is it really doing anything?…
I’ve heard rave reviews from other people and it does feel nice on my skin, but like some of Kiehls other products I’m not sure it did enough to benefit my skin that make it worth the price.
Sure it’s been an alright serum, but there hasn’t been a noticeable wow! factor for me.

These reviews just goes to show that everyone’s skin is different… I really have been enjoying this product, so I will explain how I have been using it, and maybe that will be helpful for others if they decide to purchase. A little skin history, I’ve had dry skin for probably the last five years, and it has been very difficult to find products that not only work well with my skin, but also work well under makeup. I have zero patience for pilling, or greasy residue…. three months ago I started using curology (which has been fantastic), and started taking supplements to level out my hormones/help with acne, which caused my skin to go from dry, to VERY oily… the thick creams and serums I was using before started to leave me looking like a grease ball… so back to the drawing board for the perfect skin care routine. I went through a bunch of gel moisturizers that had hyalouronic acid to maintain moisture, and they all would either pill, or burn my skin…. I went to sephora one day and came across this, and decided to buy it… by that point I almost gave up.. the first day I used this, I was impressed by it…. out of the shower, I use a toner, and then applied one pump of this while my face was still moist from the toner.. this helped it spread and not feel heavy… I then used a gel moisturizer (biossance squalane gel) and then applied Pixi jasmine oil with evening primrose… this combination kept my face from producing too much oil, but still giving the moisture my skin needed. My overall thoughts is that this did what it said it would… my face looks plumped, and it doesn’t irritate my skin, also does not cause me to break out. If you are thinking about getting this, I would say get a sample, and see if it works out for you.

The product is an emulsion that is created in a way that will be able to deliver ample and lasting hydration for many hours after application, yet has a light, pleasant and elegant feel that settles into a very flattering and natural finish on the skin.
The product structurally (and also marketing-wise) is very similar to another L’Oreal owned brand, Biotherm Everplump moisturizer, Skinceuticals Metacell Renewal B3, LRP HYALU B5 cream.
It contains high quantities of Glycerin (15%) and the silicone emollient dimethicone.
It contains very few actives in the form of cell-fuel: Adenosine and Shiso Extract.
In this respect Skinceuticals Metacell Renewal B3, LRP HYALU B5 cream will be a much better choice.
I find it too greasy leaving an oily residue on the face after application and even after it has absorbed into the skin it feels somewhat heavy. Although it feels moisturizing and hydrating enough, aesthetically it is a miss also considering the high price-point it is marketed at.
The only good thing I find about it is the airless packaging and the lack of fragrance and colourants.

It’s very overpriced glycerin for sure, and contains way too much silicone for my usual preference, but what can i say, it works as a simple hydrator for my dry skin!
It’s not sticky at all (one of my biggest worries), i didn’t find it leaves a film like other reviewers mentioned, maybe because I always place this serum in the middle of my routine (so after toner or other silicone-free watery serum/essences, but before milky serum, oil and moisturizer). The serum turns into little water droplets when in contact with the skin. I’m glad there is a 75ml size available, which works out to be quite an acceptable price when I buy it on sale (a few times a year Kiehl’s has a 20% off in my country), at €52, it equals €20.8 for 30ml, which is frankly much cheaper than many other hydrating serums. I find glycerin to work better for me than hyaluronic acid, because every hyaluronic acid serum out there makes my face feel very tacky and causes pilling (I mean, glycerin is usually also very sticky but this serum manages to not let it be). This serum, despite its high silicone contents, does not pill, provided that I use some milky serums on top.

I finished this since it was pricey but it did not adhere to my face, tiny water droplets forms once you rub in but it felt like another layer which was too heavy. It has this weird thing whereby it forms a layer over your face, it looks almost like a film. I prefer the Kiehls ultra cream or the ultra balm, both of which I love. I would not recommend since it is super expensive for something that is less in performance than the Clinique Moisture Surge serum which is better in performance, I’m using that now and it sinks in quicker with zero residue. The best however, is still the Laniege Water Bank Essence EX, which i will go back to since I’m done exploring with moisturising serums.

There’s a reason why this product has 2 stars on MUA and a near perfect rating on Kiehl’s website. I tried three times writing this exact review there and the company blocked it each and every time because it’s not positive. I used this product for two weeks twice a day and really saw absolutely no noticible improvement in my skins texture or hydration, but the reason I opted to return it was that although it states it can be used under the eye contor, when this product touches there it made it feel as if my skin was burning so bad that I needed to wash it off. Would 100 percent not repurchase.

I bought this in the winter and I used it as a serum underneath my moisturizer and foundation. The results were amazing, my skin looked more glowy and hydrated, my foundation went on smoothly and overtime my skin in the morning looked clear, hydrated and smooth. I wouldn’t recommend using this product in a night time skincare routine, if there is too many products layerd on top of this then I have a feeling that it won’t let all your other products soak in properly. It’s perfect for the day time when you do your morning skincare routine. In the winter, this product really hydrated my skin which was my skin savior because my combination oily skin was feeling a bit tight and dry. Now that it’s summer time, I wouldn’t wear this product underneath my Makeup. Instead I will use the kiehls ultra facial oil free lotion and skip the foundation and use instead the kiehls tinted moisturizer. Ps: this product is also great in the spring time and autumn, winter but definitely not summer time.

I’m just finishing up my second bottle of this.
I use it mainly on my forehead which is dry. The concentrate leaves a film, and doesn’t absorb into the skin. I’ve noticed no difference to my skin’s condition after having used it nightly for 7 months. Will not repurchase.

I’m oily acne prone skin, but after I gave birth it turns out combination skin that oilly on T zone & dry on my cheak, it is noticeble flacky patches when I make up. I came to Kielh’s counter they used a strip to test some area on my skin and advise this product. Whoolala, thanks good it works, after a week using it in morning & night I notice the make up surface is smoother means no dry dull remain. It doesn’t break me out that’s a good things too.I will buy it again, worth the money.
