This is the type of mask that saves your face after a boozy night out – the type where you wake up to find you have some make up left on your face/feeling gross.
A pea sized amount massaged round your face, splashed with water – feels a bit tingly – then after one minute you rinse and voila and beautiful fresh face is revealed.
This stuff removes make up also, but I would recommend using it as a morning exfoliant 2/3 times a week as it leaves a lovely smooth base for make up.
I would buy this again simply because it lasts a while. I don’t know what the weird reviews about the smell are… I quite like the smell of it…

I’ve just tried a sample of this and had to write a review immediately to jot down some notes. I had put off using this sample for quite some time after receiving it with a Nordstrom beauty order. I’ve never heard of Ren and wasn’t sure even a 1-minute “facial” would be worth my time. [[ UPDATE ]] I snagged a bottle of this during Anthropologie’s 25% OFF Christmas Sale.
USE:
I massage the product onto my cleansed, but dry skin. There’s a slight roughness to the texture, but I like that feeling. I massaged for 15-30secs and ran my fingers under warm water very quickly and splashed onto my face as directed. I massaged my face again for a second or two, to spread the water over my face so the product mixes with it. The product immediately liquefies to a smooth, non-dripping almost gel-like texture. I left it on for at least a minute before rinsing. I didn’t have much trouble rinsing the product off my face.

Product: Interestingly enough, the product seemed more runny in the squeeze bottle than what was in the sample I had. You definitely have to make sure your fingers, hands, and face are COMPLETELY dry before squeezing anything into your palm and onto your face. Otherwise, the product will pill up when you massage your skin and the entire process is ruined.

RESULTS:
I couldn’t believe how soft, firm, tight, & smooth my face felt. I couldn’t stop touching my face. The bumps were less visible and my face looked brighter. And to get this fresh, amazing feeling after just 1-minute? Definitely could do this often or before going out. I kept thinking to myself, “what? I have to wait three days before I can use this again???” (as per the package noted).
SCENT:
As for the scent, it wasn’t unpleasant nor pleasant, but I don’t have a sensitive nose and feel I could tolerate unpleasant scents if the product works. Once I added water to it, it smelled more like Vitamin C/citrus scent.

PACKAGING: I am not a fan of the twist cap squeeze bottle because 1) the spout seemed really large, so every time I use it, I feel like the product comes out too quickly and I have no control. 2) The other problem with the container is that it’s a twist cap – I use one hand to hold/squeeze the tube with the product into the other hand, but in order to move onto the next step of using both hands to massage the product onto my face, I have to put the bottle down somewhere…but it won’t stand on its own without the cap, but the cap is already off at this point and I’d need the other hand to put it back on. I have to balance the upside-down open container between my sink faucet and the wall. It works for me this way, but it’s a pain in the arse. Might need to transfer it to a different container. They should really design the bottle to be a flip-cap with a smaller spout.

On my second tube, and dreading running out cos this stuff is pricey! But it’s awesome, especially when used in conjunction with the REN Glycolactic Mask. Using this after the Glycolactic Mask once a week, I’ve seen results- smoother skin, refined texture, fewer blackheads. Does have a sort of metallic smell, which doesn’t bother me. REN uses only 100% plant and mineral derived actives, and is no skin-unfriendly synthetic ingredients.
Also, it’s so quick and easy, which is a HUGE plus. If I’ve getting ready for a night out, I use this-depending on the state of my skin.
NOTE: This is NOT for Sensitive skin. They say it on the box. They mention it on all packaging. It’s on the website. There are multiple reviews which complain that they reacted- read the damn box. If my skin is feeling a little dry/irritated dues to whatever factors, I’l avoid this for the week and alter my regime a little. Because skin changes. If you can try a sample or delixe sample give it a go before investing in a tube and see how you go.
